I drove 30 minutes (which isn't terrible, I know) to get there. As I walk in, I smile to the guard to which I was promptly asked to leave. I asked why and was told no men were allowed. It was only for women. I asked to speak with Lyn. She comes out from the start with an attitude and says it's ladies only. "It's not my fault you can't read." I asked why, to which she replied " we have women changing in here and I don't want them feeling uncomfortable." I told her it was discriminatory and she said "thanks so much for telling me that" and shut the door. Now, I will start by saying I want any gender, sexual orientation, etc... to feel comfortable in any space. What I have an issue with is that she is turning away purchasing customers because something may happen. Are there no dressing rooms? Are the women just undressing in front of anyone? If that's so, there's a problem right there. If there are in fact dressing rooms, that is your job as the owner to make sure the customers are safe. As a gay, nonbinary individual, the last thing on my mind going to a sale is taking a peak at women, or anyone, for that matter. No where on the estate sale.net ad did It say no men were allowed. I saw the ladies only picture, but figured it was referring to only female clothing. If a trans woman were to come in would they be turned away just because they were born male? I'm assuming you keep it vague on the rules as to not get in trouble for discrimination. Lyn, I'm thinking because you sale high end goods that you feel you can treat others with disrespect and make up rules as you see fit. You are no better than those that are buying or selling to you.
