A few weeks ago it stopped working for some reason. I took it to a reputable jeweller and I was told that it needed a replacement movement, but that the replacement unit would not have the illumination feature because it wasn't available. I decided against getting the repair done and I took the watch to another reputable jeweller. This jeweller also checked the watch and told me the same thing. I also decided not to have the repair done. As I mentioned, this watch is very dear to me and I wanted it to work as it was intended. A friend of mine recommended Master Jewellers to me as he so very pleased with their service. I took there and I told the lady how much I cherished this watch, also mentioning the information that I was given from the 2 other jewellers. The lady was familiar with this model of watch and told me that the illumination feature is separate from the movement and it would be retained if a new movement was needed. I agreed to have the inspection and repair done. A few days later she told me that the watch only needed a battery and the existing movement was operating correctly. I was so pleased!!! Not only did it not need a replacement movement that 2 other jewellers told me it would need , but it only needed a battery ! This watch is now woking perfectly just as it had been for so so many years. I highly recommend Master Jewellers to everyone, especially if a treasured item is involved. They are so courteous and honest , such wonderful service !!

Fast forward 40+ years - apparently this shop has been here since 1974 - it has a new owner who's been behind the counter for 10 of those. I've visited many times to get various things done to my timekeeping devices. The service is always excellent - it's fascinating watching him practice his craft, as he makes it look so easy, and what he charges for his service and products is more than fair.
