When I called yet again and finally spoke with the owner, she let me know that the people who can service it will be by in about a month. WHY was this not mentioned before? Had I known it would take this long, I would have found another location to take it to. Very unprofessional and it shows that they try to take on too much & don't have the bandwidth for the jobs and repairs they do get. I do not recommend this jewellery store.

While I have to keep up with technology in my work life, and I do like Yelp and the conveniences of things like GPS to show me the fastest/shortest route to where I'm driving, at heart I am a luddite. I like the life of simpler times, and I also like analog watches. I view them as functional jewelery. I also feel that watch repair is a dying art, and I want to do my part in keeping it alive. Vahid also repairs jewelry and sells some jewelry and watches in his store too. Although I personally found the jewelery styles not contemporary enough for my tastes. The items looked like things from the estate sale of someone's great-grandmother, lol. I will buy my jewelry elsewhere, but I would not hesitate to come to Fooshin for my watch and jewelery repairs. When it came time to get it serviced, he took me to this little shop on Merivale. Fast forward 40+ years - apparently this shop has been here since 1974 - it has a new owner who's been behind the counter for 10 of those. I've visited many times to get various things done to my timekeeping devices. The service is always excellent - it's fascinating watching him practice his craft, as he makes it look so easy, and what he charges for his service and products is more than fair. I have several luxury watches…read more(Tudor, Hamilton, Ball) and when I need a bracelet adjustment (e.g. removing links from a metal watch bracelet), I will only trust Frank to handle my luxury watches. I also have two specific examples of how Frank saved the day: 1. I have a pair of earrings made of semi-precious stone with a thin gold wire running through a tiny hole drilled in the top of the stone. The gold wire on one of the earrings wore out and snapped. I took it to an upscale jewellery store for repair and they said they couldn't do it because the hole was so tiny and the wire was so thin - they didn't have wire small enough to fix it. I took it to Frank instead. He took one look, said that yes, the wire was tiny, but he could special order the right wire if I was willing to wait two weeks. He fixed it and it's been perfect ever since. 2. I received a vintage, 35-year-old quartz Mickey Mouse watch by Lorus. It didn't keep proper time, as it lost 20 minutes every day, despite having a new battery. Brought it to Frank, he cleaned it, serviced it, replaced the rotted gasket, and it now keeps perfect time. Don't be put off by his modest storefront - it's not the jewellery he sells that's the draw, it's the expertise of his repair service that's important. There's nobody I would trust more with handling my expensive pieces for day-to-day minor repairs or bracelet/strap adjustments.

The whole experience was amazing. The pricing, quality, numerous solid gold chain options, and the service left us so happy. Nawal did all of our bracelets and she was beyond friendly - she seemed like a long lost friend and provided amazing service, especially to my 9 year old niece. I was so happy with the experience that I brought my mom in the next day so she could get some permanent jewellery too. Nawal helped her curate a set of anklets, a bracelet, and a custom necklace with birthstone pendant, all permanent, and all solid gold. My mom and I had so much fun that I bit the bullet and got another piece as well. We've looked around Ottawa for good options for permanent jewellery, but didn't find as many options for solid gold, as we did with Magpie. If you're in the market for permanent jewellery, I highly recommend Magpie. Ask for Nawal! She'll keep you laughing, all while getting a piece of jewellery you'll absolutely love.
