The massage area was clean, warm, and comfortable- it was extremely relaxing with great pressure. Afterwards, you put on a wrap and go into the headspa area (take flip flops if you don't want to walk barefoot). (The lotion is not scented or greasy, after the massage a hot towel is placed over your back to wipe off the lotion. So nice.) First is a steaming while you receive a face, arm, hand massage. Then a shampoo, conditioner and rinse under head spa- delightful! She did a rough blowdry afterwards and my hair felt amazing. They have their own parking lot. So I was on vacation in Asheville, NC and I had a terrible headache and neck ache. I took Advil and it did nothing. I was supposed to go downtown, so I asked my friend if I could find a place to get a quick massage for my head neck and shoulders first that would hopefully alleviate the pain and she said sure. I looked on Groupon And I saw this place had a neck and shoulders massage! I called and the woman who answered was quite rude, I did ask her if the special on Groupon was good for headache and neck pain and she said yes. Just seems like I was bothering her by asking one question and booking an appointment. I let it go and made the appointment and we went there an hour later. I also need to preface this by sharing that I wear my hair curly. The whole process takes about 1.5 hours total and it lasts me about four days. I was on day two hair and I even said to my friend I hope that the massage doesn't mess up my hair... So I was escorted into the room with my massage person, and she did not really speak English, so that was awkward. So the whole time she was silent. The lady who answered the phone kept coming in and out of the room, asking me about the price on the Groupon since I kindly offered to pay them directly since I know that Groupon takes a large percentage. They made a lot more off me than they would have, you wouldn't think she'd go on about a few cents (yes this a happened during massage.) Anyway, the table had this weird contraption over it, and I just kept praying that she wasn't going to wash my hair, since again she didn't speak English well. So she started with the neck and shoulders massage and it was pretty good and helped a bit with my pain. But then the majority of the rest of the time was spent washing my hair with the contraception and all sorts of nonsense. Now had I come in for that or been aware it would've been ok. But I specifically asked if the head and neck massage was good for headaches. Washing hair isn't going to do anything for headaches. Anyway, I was pretty horrified and the poor lady had the hardest time brushing out my hair because of course it's curly. Then to my shock and horror, after a half hour of that, she actually rough blow dried it after which made it even worse. So when we were done, I came out of the room, and my friend just stared at me, trying not to laugh. I paid and got out of there and cried all night to my friend about my curls. What a mess. Again, not the therapists fault. It would've been lovely if I knew that was what I was going in for!

The location is close to downtown and has it's own parking area. I went to Amber because I was having some intense neck pains. She spent almost the entire hour working on that part of my body trying to help relieve the pain. I really appreciated how she went back and forth between using hot and cold temperatures and she seemed very present during the whole massage. She used a nice pressure and seemed to be very in tune with my body and my muscles. I felt SO much better after the massage and was completely relaxed. I can't wait to go back again.

I had exhausted all of my groupon options for cheap(er) massages and I took to Yelp to find a great local body work practitioner. Omra was a page back, but I really liked the sound and look of the place so I decided to schedule myself an appointment. Amber, my masseuse, scheduled me an appointment within three days of my call, which I'm sure you know around here is a big deal, some places are booked out for weeks ahead of schedule. She was willing to fit me in on the end of one of her standard scheduled days, so I was grateful before I even stepped foot through the door. Omra is located at a great space with an actual parking lot. Man, that is awesome. Up a couple of flights of stairs in a large shared building and you enter a magically relaxing room. It's cozy as cozy can be. It doesn't feel sterile, it feels loved, and well maintained. There's decorations all around the room that give this place a homey charm. It's like being invited into someone's house. Thoroughly relaxing. I'd love to give you the play by play of my 75 minute massage, but the fact is, it kind of knocked me out. I was put into this kind of weird half awake half dream state, where the massage felt like the longest, and most brief thing that has ever happened. The amount of pressure was perfect, even when I thought I wanted a bit more pressure to work out some sort of knot or twist I felt within my muscles I felt them relaxing and easing up. Super pleasant. I can't say enough nice things about Amber and Omra Bodywork. Truly. I've always ping ponged between places offering groupons, which I'm sure were a way to get me in the door of many of the spas, sanctuaries, and massage houses here in Asheville, but I never felt connected to them. Their rates without the groupon were well out of my budget. However, my full priced treatment at Omra was only slightly more than I've spent on deals at other places in the past, including the tip! I don't look forward to the next time that I need a massage, but at least I feel confident knowing that I have a prefered source of aid and relief when I do.
