I am an art teacher and rarely get my nails done during the school year but I have been really just wanting to get a gel manicure badly so I decided to look up nearby nail salons. Avalon is located only a mile from my workplace so I decided to give them a try. I've heard great things about them from a few friends too. My favorite part about my visit here were that I was a walk-in and they were able to accommodate me right away. The host/woman at the desk was friendly and had me pick out my nail colors. I selected a dark blue and glitter (galaxy, ya know?!) and had a seat. The nail technician (I want to say her name was Sarah) wasn't very talkative and got to work immediately. My other favorite thing about this visit is that she was quick! I loved being able to walk through the doors, get my nails done and leave in 30 minutes. So awesome. My nails look great too! My only complaint is that the nail technicians work space was super dirty. It had dust particles all over it which was making my hands itchy. It just felt dirty. Next time, if this happens, I'll be sure to speak up and ask her to wipe the space first. I was pleased with my $30 bill, which after a tip was $36. That's almost $10 less than I was paying at my former nail salon.

I paid for our pedicures and since the nail girl had started grinding off the polish left on one hand I had to pay for the manicure as well. I find this explanation unsatisfactory, given my thorough efforts to convey the desired outcome. A more significant concern arose during the nail service. I have a protective rubber base on my natural nails, and I distinctly instructed the technician not to file it off during the polish change. I reinforced this instruction with further photographic evidence of my existing base, and the technician explicitly confirmed understanding. To my dismay, she proceeded to file, removing the rubber base entirely and reaching my natural nail, causing unnecessary thinning and potential damage. To compound the issue, after acknowledging their mistake, I was informed that a new rubber base would be applied at no additional charge to rectify the error. There's a whole little strip mall area I had no idea existed. A hidden gem! Regina answered my call and she owns the business and does nails. She gave me a wonderful pedicure and gel manicure and was a joy to chat with. She said she's owned the business in that location for 28 years. There is a massage therapist, facial esthetician, two nail technicians including Regina and she rents out space for three hairdressers. It was $70 total for a gel manicure and pedi. It was a Sunday so the salon overall was quiet and it was really just Regina and me the full time in the nail area. PS. Her dog Bella is so cute and greeted me upon arrival. She just chilled in her dog bed the whole time.
