I stopped today (and last year), Same issue. Tips they use were 1 size too big, after telling them (thin and square ends (but not wider than my finger). I told the girl - these are wide (looked like you hit my finger with a hammer). - she did nothing - I told her I HATE them like that!! Response "your finger wider at end" - In hey Tammy voice - in my voice "strange my finger was not wider when I drove up". $150.00 later - shitty nails and I am filing the hell out of the wide, pan head nails! I would not suggest going to this place if you want your nails to stay looking nice for longer than A TOTAL OF 4 days. I asked for a full refund because I got a full set of acrylics of which two completely popped off within four days of getting them on I went back to ask if they could fix one nail tha they wanted to charge me another $40 And this is all after over pricing a set of acrylic nails that typically cost me $60-$80. I am very new to the manicure scene. I love having beautifully painted nails but have always been wary of spending money on this. Well....Three weeks ago I decided to treat my 6 year old niece to a manicure and although she had a giant smile on her face the whole time and left showing everyone her cute pink nails, I was the person who was truly inspired. Haha, well you see as a mid-thirties art teacher, I wash my hands a million times a day which means that in order to have pretty nails, I must repaint them every day or two which as you can imagine is a pain in the tushy. Well, believe it or not, it turns out that getting your nails done professionally is actually worth it. I'm super late to the scene, I know, I get it. BUT, I am a changed woman now as I currently have perfectly painted, gorgeous purple nails with pink and blue sparkles. I really enjoyed my experience here at LA Nails. The instant I walked in, I felt welcomed and everyone working and everyone getting treatments seemed very genuinely happy and friendly. have gone there before and had pretty good experiences,...but today I went to have gel nails done and they do not look good I asked for a French gel manicure...and when I got to my car, in the daylight I saw that the clear gel was the top of my nails and the white (for the French tip) was not. The white tip looks like it was created by sand...no two nails look alike!!!! I wish I could upload a photo to show I called them and had him come out to see what they looked like outside, and he said...I should look at them in my car...not in the direct sunlight!!! By far the worst nail salon I have ever been to in my entire life. I get pedicures every 2 to 3 weeks and have for the last 30 years. I the nail technician who did my pedicure started to take my gel nail polish off with a pic... Followed by a really heavy nail file. After she cut me and burned me, someone else had to step in and take over. I had an open cut on my foot and she put an alcohol-based solution on it. Not only that, but there was no lotion on my heels... And then they overcharged me. I asked for an express pedicure that was supposed to take 30 minutes and instead took almost an hour. Then they charged me $15 for the gel polish. The chairs they used were super weird... And you almost put your feet in some kind of stir up. What's more, I had a crooked nail and all she did was file it after the polish was already on it. Worst pedicure ever. Do not ever go here. read more

The salon was not busy, and I was able to get right in. I told the tech that I was looking for a new salon to call "home." This is my favorite place to get my nails done in Asheville. There's lots of places that do good nails in this town, but I really just love the husband-wife team that runs this shop. They're a hoot-and-a-holler. I've been going to this nails place since before I ever moved to Asheville. They used to operate in a divey nail shop down the street with semi-functional massage chairs and flickering tube lights. Back in the old days, they were the least luxurious place on the block, but I always loved them. Why? Because, let's face it. Most mani/pedi's are mind-numbingly boring experiences...Not these guys! Before I even moved to AVL, they told me every good spot in town for hiking, tubing, dirtbiking, buying wild honey, ramps, you name it. And also the mani/pedis were always great, non-functioning massage chair notwithstanding. Since those days long ago, the proprietors Dee and Andy have brought over some extended family from Vietnam, and moved into a much nicer place down the street from their old shop. This time, they have all the amenities. It's still not a super fancy place, but they did put up some outrageously ornate crystal chandeliers, all their massage chairs and whirlpools are working properly, and their clientele remains fiercely loyal. There's always something good on the TV, too. They watch a lot of King of the Hill, but I've also seen a bunch of shows about ATV mishaps, sharks, tornadoes, and basically any other low-brow entertainment that a self-respecting redneck might enjoy. One time they gave me a pedicure so good I went for several months before I had to change the polish. It just kind of stuck there and looked awesome. Dee is brilliant at nail art. There's definitely fancier, quieter, more spa-like, and more meditative nail salons in town, but you'll never find a place with so much exuberance, humor, and neighborhoody good vibes, and that's why these guys are my favorites. read more

I am honestly shocked about how good most of these reviews are. I will agree that the technicians were very sweet, but that's the ONLY positive here. The place was out of the way and very dirty. There was nail dust on my station and my technician didn't use a towel under my mani (probably why). The selection for colors of gel polish and SNS was tiny - barely anything to choose from! But I would be willing to overlook all of this if my $45 SNS mani had lasted more than 7 days. I have two nails that have cracked. This has never happened to me before (even with having SNS on for up 4 weeks). My friend that I went with got gel polish and her thumb chipped off a day before my first nail cracked. Why bother writing reviews on Yelp when negative reviews can be remove without any intent or purpose. This only questions Yelps practice also. I wrote a review about LA Nails that was removed. The practice at this salon is dangerous to your nail health. Instrument are not sanitized properly, setting you up for nail infections and fungus. Nails are clipped rounded perfect for ingrown toenails. I plan to contact NC State Board and report their business. read more

I had the opposite experience from the lady from Austin. I moved here about 1 year ago, and I have a very unusual problem that I was so concerned about because I was moving and would lose my nail tech from ATL. Dee is fabulous, as is the whole staff and Andy is a riot..(Dee's husband).. but also a good nail tech. For me, it was one of the few places(and for a very reasonable price) that is able to actually give me an acrylic toenail. I had to have the sides removed on both of my big toes many years ago.. then finally my tech in ATL tried using acrylic to fill it in, and it worked! I was so happy to FINALLY have normal looking toes! Living in the warm climates, for women, its practically a must! Not sure if they changed anything since 2012 - but you should give it another try now if you have not. Dee is able to give me the acrylic nails I need on my two toes - and the mani and the rest of the pedi is top notch as far as I'm concerned. They have the nice chairs with the tub attached, and always clean.. They are also fast - if you are in a real rush, one of the techs can actually start or completely do your fingers while your feet are getting done - you do get the soak/scrub/massage and all that I have had in 'high end' salons but at a price I can afford! I just get a plain manicure, but even if you are getting more done on your hands, they can at least start while you are getting your pedi - if you want - up to you. They are constantly updating the space inside.. so don't let the outside fool you - it is nice in there..(the outside isn't horrible, just not very 'snazzy').. You can always go in and discuss what you want and not make an appointment until you decide too. They often let customers walk in, I have done that only once because I was sort of doing errands anyway.. and it was not a problem. I usually make an appointment, which is always a better idea though. They use the disinfecting cleaner and soaker in the tub that I have seen in much more expensive shops. I have been getting manis and pedis of various kinds for about 30 years now, and they are one of the best!(as was my tech back in ATL).. to wrap it up - I am very happy with them. Cute little shop with nice people who run it. However, the acrylic nails I were given did not even last 2 days. My thumb nail broke off. I went back and was charged to get it fixed. On top of that it looks very different from the rest of my nails. My pinky nail fell off 2 days after and I refuse to go back as to not be charged over $40 for a 2 week manicure. I'm going elsewhere because these did not last and they're wonky. read more
