Then, at 6:30 pm, you have four lanes devoted for lap swimming, however, two of these lanes are issued to a high school team which is supervised by a coach. So the truth is that from 6:30 pm to 8pm you offer 2 lanes for city lap swimming; unfortunately, that's not all. I spoke with David this evening who identified himself as the supervisor for the pool area; he is a respectful and a friendly young man. I explained to him that in the two lanes offered for lap swimming there are people doing calisthenics and jogging today but last week there were snorkeling. He explained, he meant to have his lifeguards enforce lap swimming but he has not done it yet. So in fact the Los Altos Pool offers the citizens of Albuquerque one lane of lap swimming on Friday from 6:30pm to 8 pm. I hope they update the description of what is actually happening so adults driving here are not surprised every week.

Sadly, the staff could do a better job of keeping them clean, but they're not disgusting or anything. The pool is 25 meters, not yards, which is nice. The water is the warmest of all the pools which is great for someone who hates cold water. Sometimes in the winter, the air can get too cool (true of all city pools), so even though the water is warm, the air is not (sometimes). Still overall the best pool in the city for lap swimming. Wish they had better hours but that's a staffing issue and hopefully that will get better.

We have been going to the Fish Factory for 6 years - we have graduated 3 kids so far and it is…read moresimply THE BEST! Practically speaking: the year round classes, the warm pool the amazing curriculum and how they keep track of where each child is skill level wise and building off of that every week, is astonishing. I grew up on a swim team and the way the classes are laid out at the Fish Factory are different - and so much better because of it! Children first learn safety skills. And when they get to the swim strokes it's broken down in such a way that it is far more intuitive for kids. We travel a LOT and my kids are the best swimmers in the water compared to 95% of anyone else and are far younger as well. My littlest knows not to jump into the pool without permission and how to get to the side and pull herself out if she fell in. These classes don't look like the 2 week sessions teens teach. They are taught by adults who are paid an adult salary and the quality shows. Not to mention they all clearly love kids and the water! I can't say enough good things about the Fish Factory - I can say I will literally cry when my youngest graduated and we don't have a reason to come here anymore.
