I waited to review until I had gone a few times. Honestly, the Nicest people with Great prices... but what is MOST impressive is that normal gel nails last more than 2 weeks here. At most salons I get 3 -7 days max before one starts to peel. They take their time and use quality products. Super impressed after four visits. I snuck in a fancy Westlake nail salon in between and the quality just isn't the same. This is my only salon nowZ definitely recommend Kay's in Oak Park! read more

Do not go here! Run away save your nails if you have natural nails turn back while you still have them! I have attached photos of the color being off the color peeling and the nails filed None of them have their license is out because I don't think any of them are actually licensed to practice nail design I'm going to call the health inspector on them actually because she was only supposed to do a polish change filed my nails so thin they all broke off I even told her how happy I was to have long nails for Christmas she even commented on how strong they were but because she filed my gel polish off so hard she filed my nails so thin on the side I can't even grow them out anymore without breaking all the way down she's completely destroyed my nails she's thin them out cannot grow them out anymore and they were almost an inch and a half long naturally I left there crying I had a modeling gig two days later that they were expecting my long nails and it was a complete letdown I've lost out on work because of this woman and I asked her to be nice and and soak my nails but apparently she didn't have enough patience nor did she actually use gel polish remover she's soak my gel nails in acetone first of all so you know that they're not licensed to do gel color My nails still hurt they crack everytime I hit them on something I literally look at my nails and get so depressed I want to make sure that she is never allowed to touch another person's nails again! She should be in a different field he has no idea what she's doing she literally filed my pinky to a stiletto tip and I will be attaching photo so you can see the difference I didn't ask her to file my nails I just wanted a polish change this was absolutely uncalled for rude and I can't even believe that they charged me for it the paint came off everything was peeling they couldn't get the right color and they charged me for a chrome color that didn't even turn out right they kept me there for an extra half-hour trying to get it right which they couldn't do and still charge me not acceptable I don't even care if you give me a discount you should not have charged me at all to ruin my nails and for me not to have the nails that I was so happy to have for Christmas and New Year's thank you very much for ruining my holidays read more

I have been getting my nails done for the last 20yrs and this has to be by far the BEST acrylic set with gel that I have ever had in my LIFE. The guy that did them took his time, was very detailed oriented to make sure every nail matched on each side, didn't try to upsell me on every little thingand shaped them exactly how I wanted. They are thin and natural and the color is perfect. After having such a bad experience a few weeks ago at a place that left me with an infection in my nail, it was so refreshing to have a person take pride in what they do and really do an excellent job. I came in to get my acrylic nails taken off and to get a manicure. I came in on a Monday they were kind of busy I had to wait about 15 minutes (which I was okay with). So then the lady tells me to have a seat at her chair. I waited another 15 minutes while she started someone else's nails. She rushed taking my nails off, I had to ask her if she could go back and take off the rest of the acrylic on my nails. After she finally got all the acrylic off she shaped my nails, badly gave me a massage. Then I told her I just wanted clear polish. She asked if I could pay first, I said no problem. I asked Her how much it would be and she is first says $31 and I asked well how much was the nail take off and how much is the manicure she said the nail take up was eight dollars and the manicure was 13 so I was like don't you mean it's $21 and she was like oh yeah I mean $21. But if I wouldn't of caught the mistake she would've clearly charge me 10 extra dollars so I paid and then she proceeded to finish with my manicure and she told me that she's only going to give me one coat and I said well don't you think you should do two coats since I just took off acrylic nails then she finally gave me two coats of clear polish. It was such a bad rash job I will never be back here again this is my first and last time coming. read more

I got my nails done by a handsome young man named Kevin I believe. Even though it was busy, they did their best to get around to me, and were honest about the time wait. The salon was clean, and my nails were painted neatly and if I wanted something different, kevin did what I wanted. I cant speak for the other workers, but I was happy with my manicure and appreciated being made a priority. The atmosphere is also relaxing and the equipment is CLEAN. I got a gel manicure on Saturday. By Monday my nails were peeling. I went back on Tuesday they fixed them for free. It is now Wednesday and all my nails have peeled off. They lasted less than FIVE DAYS. So upsetting and such a waste of money. I can't speak for their other services but their gel polish is a rip off. read more

I live in Los Angeles, but I'm from the area originally so I'm out here from time to time. Before coming here, I had never gotten a gel manicure (but really... I was missing out and I can't believe it took me this long to try gel...) I didn't want to write my review until after I got my manicure and then got another one (so I could tell how long it lasted and their quality vs. others) and let me just tell you, this place is amazing. I got a gel manicure, spa pedicure, and my eyebrows waxed for $55... you just can't beat that deal. Other salons I've been to have charged me $50 for a regular manicure and spa pedicure... Also, everyone working there was super polite. No one was having conversations with other employees, they all really focused on just you. My gel manicure was a little peely on the sides after a week, but I think its because it was really hard to get perfect in the huge massage chair. Next time, I may get these services separate. All in all, this place provides excellent value and I can't wait to go back! read more

Very impressed with this place. Pedicure bowls have disposable plastic inserts for extra hygiene. They also use a tool for power sanding and buffing of feet and calluses. Not just the rough stone with a couple pass throughs. These ladies put their best work forward and the pedicure lasts. They are very nice and willing to do the mani and pedi at the same time. It's in a good strip mall near other stores and restaurants and easily found. This is my second time back in the last couple weeks. I tried 3 other salons and was not impressed. This is my new nail spot! Btw-they give a neck massage with the mani. Callus treatment is only $6 additional. Very affordable place with great service. Worst experience I've had at a nail salon! First the girl who was doing my toes jabbed the nail tool into my big toe so hard my toe began to bleed, then once she saw it was bleeding she began to panic a bit and kept putting alcohol on it (which burned SO bad) and placed this white powder on it which just hurt more. After the bleeding begun to slow down she rushed through my pedicure so fast it looks awful! She then kept saying 30% off so I said thank you and didn't bother with complaining. Then the girl who was doing my finger nails wanted me to pay and said my total was $30. I thought wow there prices must be high if that's 30% off, but no they didn't give me a discount they still had me pay full price. As I realized that, I became a bit upset and thought well at least my fingers will turn out alright. They didn't, the girl rushed through then used a brush to try and clean up her work. I'm sorry I usually try not to complain because they were just doing their job after all but I can't believe how bad it was and this was my first experience here. They also all just stared at me when I left not even saying goodbye. I will not return there are much better nail salons in town. read more

I love kay's nails but I have a few complaints. I got acrylics and t cost $26 which is a very reasonable price. Unfortunately I did not receive a massage like they do with regular manicures that cost much less. In addition I feel my polish was done a bit sloppy but overall my nails look pretty good! I've been going here for about a year, and it's the only nail salon in the area I go to! I get my nails done every two weeks. I call the day of or the day before to make an appointment, and they always make time. If you're going to be coming in before a holiday or at a busy hour, I really recommend calling for an estimated time. I've gone a few times where people have had to wait to get their nails done. Not the staff's fault at all, sometimes they just get busy! That's why making appointments is best. I get acrylics and have always liked how they're done, regardless of who does them. I did gel nails here twice but I prefer acrylics. I'm going to do a pedicure soon; I really like that they use plastic inserts for their spas. The salon is always clean, there are tons of magazines, and there's relaxing music playing. The staff is polite and nice; if you want to talk, you can, but I prefer to just be quiet and zone out to relax while I get my nails done. Once I came in on a Saturday and by Tuesday one of my acrylics had popped off and Ken, the owner, fixed it without question. I really appreciate that! Hi, I just got my nails done and they are HORRIBLE!!!! I went in and asked for a acrylic set, nothing crazy, no gel or design. He did them so quickly and messily. He cut them super short and made them all uneven. He smudged the nail and instead of fixing it he put more paint on top like u couldn't see it, even though it makes it even more noticeable. Also, he didn't even fully paint the nail. I will never be going back and neither should you. read more

I had stopped getting gel manicures because I found my fingers sore from the electric device. She did a 2 time soak and just used a file. Much less invasive and no soreness! The place is very clean. 1. it's ok to speak your native language while working on customers, but try to keep it low and maybe customers do not wish to have conversation with you. still, it's rude just start talking to each others as if customers does not exist. the shop that more mindful about this does better in business. 2. gel manicure definitely not their specialty , the cuticles aren't cleaned up, i had to do it myself next day, the colors weren't covered all the nails and corners not filed nicely. also don't expect customers to have even arms to one side to work on. it's terrible almost seem not prepare to serve gel customers or know how. 3. hospitality got a huge point off, didn't let me off the chair until I paid with my credit card. I couldn't step off until they had me sign off the slip as if I wasn't going to paid up. THAT was a big turn off 4. when doing pedicure, kindly use words to remind people to either raise their feet or whatever needed, I can't read and super occupied when my hands are being worked on , so don't be a mute, speak to customers. if these things are improved, maybe will be better for their business. read more

Went in for a dip manicure. I had gone to this place since I was in high school and figured they would do an excellent job. I walked out with nails that were far from what I had expected. The nails are uneven and the "gel" top coat is less than shiny or even. I'm honestly disappointed that I spent 40 and gave a decent to only have to get them done again. I would say if you want a gel manicure you would be fine but who knows. Lesson learned, not all salons know what they are doing. Also I feel that their color selection was subpar. Where I usually go (out of state), has hundreds of colors to choose from. I feel that this salon is dated and they rush. I'm sad that it has turned into that. read more

I love this little gem of a nail shop! Vivi is absolutely the best! They give you a long massage and use hot stones INCLUDED in the price of your mani/pedi as well as neck massage!! I got a gel fill here in August 2010 and the next day I had a brown dot on my right hand....two days later it was swelling up my arm and I had to be rushed to the hospital for MRSA and was told that had I gotten there any later, I would have lost my hand. Wonderful place! First time I've been here. Loved the plastic inserts for the pedi-spa's, makes it extra hygenic. The girl that did my feet did a fantastic job, especially on the foot massage! My nails could've been painted better - nail polish doesn't go all the way to my cuticle, and they should've done another coat. So product gets 2 stars.
