Currently my favorite Lodi sushi place. We've been coming here much longer than we've been living…read morehere, and the quality has remained consistent. We can usually depend on it being busy as they offer a small dining area with limited tables outside, so when we do walk in we do so prepared. They do have a reservation system but to my knowledge we have not used it. We just walk up and greet the staff person at the door to check in, and they tell us what the wait is like. If it's over a half hour we usually kill time in Raley's. It's usually not longer than a 20 minute wait. If you are a large party, things might get cramped, but I've seen them pull it off with gusto. We've never had a party larger than four and it's been great. I really like the folks who work here. And the food is great too. They have a few tvs and a little sushi bar at the back, and the noise level is about average depending on how many children are dining with their families. Komachi has a dedicated vegetarian menu and I've tried most of the things on it. I love that they have marinated shiitake rolls, my fave of the standard veggie sushi innards. Yummy! My favorite rolls on the menu are the Garden Roll (steamed asparagus, avocado, cucumber, kanpyo, and shiitake), Shittake Maki, and the Rich Jumbo Roll (fried asparagus, fried onion, avocado, cream cheese, and cucumber). Appetizers I have tried and enjoyed very much include the Agedashi tofu, fried brussels sprouts (I have to remember to have the fish flake removed from this dish though), and of course, wakame (seaweed salad). They do have ramen, donburi, bento boxes, teppanyaki (the tofu one I look forward to trying soon!) and salads as well if you're not in the sushi mood. I like their seasonal drink menu, featuring wine, soju, and beer. Komachi is also reasonably priced. Yeah, pretty much everything I'm looking for when me and my boo are craving sushi. Vegan Corner: several items can be made vegan upon request, but there is not a dedicated menu. Bathroom Report: noisy pipes will not hurt you, at least it's smelling fresh right?

We were seated immediately which was nice and the place was bustling. The server checked on us periodically in a timely manner throughout the dinner. My friend and I both ordered the sashimi-nigiri combo and though we got the sides of salad and miso soup right away, the actual sushi took quite a while to arrive. The miso soup was also a bit too salty and grainy for my liking. My friend and I were deep into our conversation but the lengthy time it took a while just to bring out our one orders each became noticeable enough for us to wonder where it was. My big takeaway from our experience with the Nigiri and Sashimi: not prime quality. I have been to other sushi places for nigiri and have had better quality and tasting fish elsewhere. This was kind of bland and sad. I want to come back to Komachi and give it an honest shot with the other items on the menu, but my usual favorites (sashimi and nigiri) did not impress me at all... I hope I can return to update this review with better things to say..

I've been craving for the unagi since I left. I'm not even typically an unagi lover. Service was amazing, water refills constantly, patience when we were looking over the menus, and prompt clearing of the table for more dishes to come out. The decor is beautiful, love the photos on the wall. Booth seating was comfortable. Food was spectacular. It is my new favorite place for ramen. A5 Wagyu- 10/10 melted in my mouth and with the hit of wasabi elevated the flavors. Loved it. Didn't love the price. $34 for 2 servings. Chicken skin 8/10 could've been more crispy. Flavor was on point. Had a bit of a kick to it. Tan tan ramen 10/10 best tan tan I've had here. The noodles were perfect, had a bounce to it, the flavor was there, I added corn, bokchoy was so delicious, the meat was amazing, the egg was cooked to perfection. Great portion. Chicken thigh 10/10. Great flavor. Very juicy. Cooked great. Chicken karaage 10/10. The meat was very tender and juicy, and fried perfectly. The sauce served with it was delicious with the squeeze of lemon. Shitake mushroom... I did not eat. But my husband enjoyed it & says he would order it again. Unagi- 10/10. Wow this was sooooo good. It was buttery, savory, and sweet. Perfectly cooked. Flavored really good. Pork belly 9/10 love that it came with green onion. Just wish it was a bit on the crispier side. Flavored well. It melted in my mouth. Chicken gizzards-- bland. 1/10 Beef curry 8/10. Wish the beef was stewed or in cubes. Served with rice. Husband and I were not a fan of the sliced beef. Flavor was good. Potato and carrots cooked well. Not a fan of the sweet radish. Sunomono 8/10 jt was delicious and delivered the acidity needed to palette cleanse in between Soba noodles 9/10. Loved that it came with tempura. Cold served noodles. Well flavored and noodles cooked well. Great portion.

What a cool little spot!…read more My wife and I enjoyed ourselves. I love Izakayas, but there are only a few scattered all over the Sacramento area. While Tanuki did not have all the dishes expected at an Izakaya like Bichoyaki, it still has excellent yakitori and donburi. All the meat skewers were excellent, with chicken thigh, heart, and skin standing out. I highly recommend coming here and supporting a cool little spot that adds something new to Elk Grove, not to mention the nicest staff.

We were the only customers and got there around 6:30. My only critique is that there were a lot of employees and we were the only patrons, yet our two servers did seem distracted and forgot a couple of things throughout the meal. I'm giving grace for that because it was a very slow night and they were probably just chit chatting in the back. I would've had no issue giving this 5 stars if it wasn't for that one small thing. Service otherwise was very friendly and quick The food was fantastic! As a Japanese American who's been eating sushi since I was in the womb, I have to disagree with the yelper who recently said the rolls are too small and too expensive. The rolls we ordered were huge and the fish was very fresh and on par with M sushi and Komachi. Is it a luxurious loungy city style vibe? No. But the food is great and the prices are fair imo for the extremely fresh and delicious fish. We ordered two bowls of miso, salmon tataki roll (I only wished for more onions!), the spicy crunchy scallop roll (my new favorite roll in Lodi), snow crab CA roll, and I think the last one was a dragon roll with unagi. They were all great. We were def pleasantly surprised by Yume and will absolutely be coming back.

To be honest the only way I am giving this a 3 star was the service. The ambiance was super clean as well and no issues there. My biggest concern was the food except the unagi which was delicious. The Ramen if I was to rate it would be 2 out of 5 stars. No great flavor and a complete disappointment. I would come back to try more sushi but definitely not the ramen.

We sent my niece ahead of everyone because we had a birthday at the table with a cake and candles and to let them know that we brought it and would like it for our dessert. They mentioned that there would be a cake cutting fee and my niece says says that it's fine. We can cut it ourselves. During the entire dinner, our waitress was nowhere to be found. We had to ask her for refills. She was absolutely not attentive, but the part that was the most egregious was when she brought out a birthday ice cream and we sang, I let her know that we had brought our own cake for this so she goes to get it and just plops down a brown paper bag that we brought everything in right there on the edge of the table. I couldn't even believe it! I told her we had candles in there, and I was hoping that we could use the cake we brought with the candles to sing my dad Happy birthday. She goes back and comes back with the candles unlit and struggles to light them in front of everyone. It was just really lackluster and for such an expensive dinner you would think that there would be better service. I've literally had better service at Chilis..
