I have been wanting some delicious katsu chicken. So I came to this place. I ordered the number 3 chicken combo. The BBQ chicken was deliciously sweet and soft. The katsu chicken was crunchy and warm. Both meats were tender and yummy. The steamed vegetables were yummy and very warm. The rice was also tasty and paired beautifully with the meats. The macaroni salad was also tasty. I like to mix the teriyaki sauce with the hot sauce which makes it a delicious mix of spice and sweet. The mayonnaise sauce is also very creamy and goes well as a dipping sauce for the chicken. The service was ok. The ambience is quite spacious and does have a nice Hawaiian vibe. read more

Stopped by to pick up a dish to go while working in the area. I ordered the beef and chicken combo over a small bed of steamed broccoli and cabbage. It came with a scoop of rice and macaroni salad. The restaurant is spacious and clean. I noticed they advertised that they make menudo which was very interesting. I asked the cashier if the menudo was good and he stated that he hadn't tried it but that they do get a lot of people that buy this Mexican dish here on the weekends. Let me start off by saying that I was getting hangry! There were 6 of us that came here after the track and field event at the high school. The restaurant was easy to find with the help of GPS. There's a large digital menu board above the cashier counter where you place your order. The food comes out pretty quickly for there only being one cook and one cashier. I ordered the Hawaiian Mix Plate with the beef short rib, bbq chicken, and the bbq beef. It came with steamed, macaroni salad, and sauteed vegetables. I had their spam musubi and their BBQ mix plate. Honestly it was amazing. Not dry on the rice like other places. Only thing I'd change was the bottom salad under the meats. Needs a little more seasoning but cooked well. Service was amazingly fast. I placed my order on the phone and it was ready once I got there. I was really surprised at the quality and portion size of my order. These Hawaiian BBQ places are usually skimpy and greasy fried, but that was not the case. I ordered the seafood mix, which came with a few shrimp, two pieces of fish, a large piece of BBQ chicken, rice, veggies, and normally it comes with macaroni salad, but they happily subbed extra veggies in its place for me. The shrimp and fish have a nice breaded texture that is not greasy, and the BBQ chicken was grilled fresh, and was tender. I could barely finish my meal. All in all a really good value. read more

Ok we were in Lodi California and was trying to see what we were doing for lunch !! We said let's try this place since we have been in Hawaii and loved this food!! Ok first of all the service from the young lady was very good and nice!! And the place looked like a little gem!! So I had the loco moco which is one in my favorites and my wife got the chicken combo plate and we got crab Rangoon appetizer!! Omg it was very tasty and the don't skimp on serving size!! This used to be my go to Hawaiian barbecue spot being that it's so delicious and I didn't mind driving 20 minutes away to get it ,However, today I have to say I was disappointed ! The quality of food is not the same. The sauce is watered down. The amount of food is not the same very expensive. And it does not taste the same at all. Solid 4 star experience and really only rating for the food...place is located in not the best pet of Lodi off of Cherokee Ln....first hiccup was the fact I ordered online and when I arrived they didn't have a copy of the order. All good the nice young lady apologized and got things rolling. I had the island fire chicken with a gyoza appetizer....solid food choice and the chicken brought some nice heat and great flavors. Loved the fact that it had grilled broccoli and cabbage mixed. It was served with the traditional mac salad and rice in which both were cooked and prepped great. If it wasn't possible to make the substitutions, it would have been nice to receive a call (even though I'm not sure why they couldn't have honored the request, I was willing to pay for a substitute) instead it was just ignored. I have been here a few times with my boys and we typically prefer to get take out. There is plenty of room inside to sit down and there are some nice murals on the wall but no real "ambiance". Wait times very but my boys always enjoy the food. On our last trip this week, I wasn't too hungry so I just got two spam masubi and they were delicious and filled me up. For $4 what more could you ask for? I usually get the Chicken Katsu and it has been pretty dry in the past but luckily I like it that way...not sure if everyone else would. My boys love the macaroni salad and recommend replacing the portion of rice with extra mac. I'm sure we will keep stopping by here every few months or so for take-out. It is a nice change up from the usual. I would definitely recommend trying it. read more
