All the mics had dead batteries, and the place wasn't set up when we showed up at published start time. Then the system wasn't remotely calibrated or balanced. The bartender that helped us was doing his best but some boss somehow expected this poor kid to bartend in one room and set up karaoke simeltaneously in another. I wouldn't go back especially since there are so many friendlier, nicely run karaoke places in Kona. Ambiance: 10/10 wether you're a family or a couple a great place to come in and have some fun. Bowling, games great food! This is like Aiea bowl on steroids! Service: was solid no complaints everyone was very nice and food came out at very reasonable time. My only thing I will say is the Katsu sauce is extra and I didn't see that anywhere on the menu but they let me know and gave it to me anyways so I appreciate that. Talk about breaking your stride... and a waste of my paid time! then to be placed by bumper bowlers & inattentive parents to lane etiquette was enough to say I'd probably never consider league bowling here. There were many open (10+) lanes but the FOH didn't care - it was about the BOH not being able to provide maintenance???!!. Lanes were mediocre at best and house balls were as expected chinked up beyond repair & shoes... Nevermind those we got were wore out & wouldn't give them to a homeless in need! Obviously don't come here expecting an oil pattern on open bowling... $55 wasted here by locals looking to be slightly entertained. Highly recommend making a visit here especially with kids. We had a couple hours before our flight home and looking for something to do in the area. My kids don't usually like to bowl but this time around, the incentive was getting tickets for every spare and strike they got. It made it more interactive and fun for them. We came in a super busy night so we weren't able to bowl but had some excellent food at chubby's diner!

While I hate to write a negative review, I believe in providing honest feedback to help improve a local business that has so much potential. Our group of 14 visited on Friday night, and I'd like to share some observations that might be helpful for the management. First, the check-in process was quite challenging. The staff member at the front desk was not very welcoming, and her manner came across as abrupt. She was wearing a face mask, which is strange and off putting to a guest, and her tone was very soft, making it difficult to hear her instructions. Unfortunately, she informed us that we couldn't check in at our reserved time because the lanes weren't ready yet, and we had to wait to get shoes or make payments until the lanes were available. While I understand there can be delays, a warmer greeting and clearer communication would go a long way toward making guests feel more valued and appreciated. Regarding the shoes, we noticed that the rental pairs seemed heavily worn and stretched out--probably from extensive use. Upgrading to newer shoes or maintaining a cleaner inventory would greatly enhance the customer experience. On the positive side, the lanes themselves were in excellent condition, and we had a great time bowling. The bartenders were friendly, attentive, and added to our enjoyable experience. The overall atmosphere at the lanes was inviting, and we appreciated that part of our visit. However, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of promotional engagement or acknowledgment from the front desk staff, especially after paying a considerable fee -- around $275 for one hour across three lanes. The staff member took our payment and didn't even look up to say thank you or greet us afterwards. Small gestures like that can make a significant difference in how customers feel about their visit. Management: I believe staff training focused on customer service and communication would be very beneficial. Improving these areas and could help turn KB into a more lively and thriving hub. The venue was quite quiet on a Friday night, and I feel that with better engagement and hospitality, it could become a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. In conclusion, while there's room for growth, I see real potential here. The lanes are great, and the staff at the bar were excellent. I wish the management team success in making the bowling alley a vibrant, welcoming spot. Over priced and lanes break down. Keep in mind that shoe rental does not include socks even though it says shoes and socks. Staff isn't super friendly. Every time I make the trip over to come here I wish that I had gone to the one in Volcano instead. I am amending my stars to 3 stars due to Summer's kind response. This bowling ally was Big Islands pride and joy. I've been to concerts here, and frequently took my kids to the arcade and bowling when we visited from Hilo. It's a modern bowling ally with an arcade, bar and billiards. Great setup but I was taken back upon my last visit. Things have slipped, and there's a sense of apathy floating around that has not gone unnoticed. The arcade is where things started off poorly, it's usually my daughters favorite part. It's not a huge arcade, but it has some fun games (when it works). To my surprise it seemed like half the arcade was out of order or malfunctioning. I counted, and it was a total of 15 which is bananas. It takes a very long time to get to that point where nobody is bothering to repair anything. If I had know the state of disrepair, I wouldn't have loaded a bunch of money on an arcade card. We ordered some food, and it was pretty disappointing. Mac and cheese tasted right out of velveta box but even that would have been better. The burgers were not good, chicken wings were not good. Staff inflexible, wouldn't allow more than one kind of sauce for the wings which seemed silly. One highlight was the fries, those were indeed tasty. The food seemed a lot better in past years. I also went to the bathroom to discover the handicap stall flooded with poop everywhere. Looks like it was there a longtime unattended. I highlighted the issue to the staff, and an hour later, still nothing. I told them a second time, and let them know that's pretty gross that nobody has bothered doing anything after it was brought up. Anyways, after loading up a card for the arcade, with half the machines broken, mostly bad food, and having to stare the unattended poop chillen in the bathroom floor, we decided to skip out early by opting out for bowling. read more

This was honestly the last thing I thought I would do on a family vacation... But I'm glad we ended up coming while we vacationed in Kona! I'm pretty sure our intention was mainly to bowl but since there was a restaurant, I guess we got more than we bargained for! We do our fair share of bowling, so we pretty much have our groove down when it comes to this family activity. We have been to bad bowling alley's and definitely know what we like and don't like. Clean shoes for every size in the family, check. Balls that are 7lb or under (for baby doll), check. Lanes that have automated bumpers, check. Kids bowling ramp, check. Cosmic bowling with lights and music, check. All bases covered here! Not only did we have loads of fun bowling, but we played arcade games as well. And besides all that, there was the food. For all the fun we had that day, we really built up an appetite and alley food here just ended our day right. Fries, grilled cheese, Korean chicken, ox tail, and steak... all comfort foods for us! Everything was (no pun intended) RIGHT UP OUR ALLEY! Staff was all ok. Facility was clean. Parking is alright. All in all, we had a great experience here and whenever we visit Kona again we'll definitely have another family night here for sure. My husband and I like to shoot pool and there are very few places that have pool tables. Every time we go one of the pool tables are broken and the one that works is slanted! To play the games you have to get tokens but most of the time the machines do not work to insert money, only a credit/debit card. We keep going back hoping that things will be fixed but they are not. These are both not valid reasons to have poor customer service and misleading pricing. Food: we ordered a 16" pizza for $26. Already overpriced. We received a 12" pizza. Upon asking why we were given the wrong pizza it was explained to me by a very standoffish server "I'm sorry you didn't hear when we told you that we are out of 16" pizzas. The crust is much better and that is why we charge the higher price. " Where do I start? First off the sorry was not a sorry. It was a demeaning interaction that was only mean to serve the server to save face. Secondly the menu should change if you are out of something. Thirdly charging $26 for a personal size pizza is crazy. So we had no choice but to purchase another personal pizza for the birthday party because there was no other choice. Thanks for making me feel terrible for questioning all this. You made a mistake by not communicating the change properly. How about saying something like "we are sorry about the mix up. How can we make it right?" Then we could have discussed options. Now I have to call my bank and dispute - out of principal. Our lane kept malfunctioning. For minutes at a time. The first instance I alerted the front desk and asked for more time because we were down for so long. They said sure. Only when I got back to the lane they added 4 minutes. We had been down for more than 10 already. The lane malfunctioned more. I asked again and was met with someone who acted as if I was being dishonest. I ended having to argue to get more time so we could finish our game. 1. Our lane was down for long periods 2. The bowling alley was more than half empty. 3. The attitude could have been totally different. Imagine if the person at the front desk said something like "I'm sorry your lane keeps going down. I understand it's not just about the time you are losing. How can we make this right?" To which I would have replied "thanks! Can you please just add enough time so we can finish our game?" It would have cost the alley nothing! And it would have made for a happy customer. All a customer wants is what they are told they should be getting. Mistakes happen. Problems happen. It's not about those issues, it's about how you make them right. I will think twice next time we have a birthday party. There are plenty of other places that would be happy with us spending $300 and not make us feel bad about it. read more

We made a reservation for cosmic bowling for 2 hours to celebrate our 2 granddaughters birthdays. Check in was fast and we got settled into our lane. Once we started bowling our lane had issues. The pin machine kept malfunctioning. Not picking up pins, pins were falling when being set up, machine was not sweeping pins, etc. we stopped by the desk several times to let them know of our issues which they said they'd call the engineers to look at it. Not once were we offered another lane and when I inquired about moving they were reluctant in making this an offer. So we continued to bowl and the issues continued to happen. I again stopped by the desk and was told they'd add time to our bowling for the inconvenience. Because of the issues we were having we were not able to complete at least 4 frames per bowler for each game. Well they never added any time to our game as they said they would and right at the end of the 2nd hour our lane closed down. It was busy and all lanes were full so I assume they ended our game so they could sell the lane to another party. I can't imagine you have league bowling with these crappy lanes. Located behind Sack-n-Save Kona Bowl has everything for everyone, Arcade area, lots of flat screen TV's, Full bar, Restaurant,Karaoke Room and a room in back for small parties. After a night of drinking and bowling we tried out the oxtail soup from the restaurant(Chubby's Diner). I really don't know how they fit so much meat in one bowl! It's was really good drunk food! 5 start for Hawaiian arcade! I always visit arcades and Espelly hunt down pinball machine's. This place is a bowling alley. A really nice one to be honest. It has new lane's and couches around the lane area. They have a large full bar and a food area. They have pool tables and arcade games. The arcade had a lot of new titles. I was a little suprised. They also had a few older games but nothing that stands out. Now for the bad everything game cost 4 tokens!! Geese a dollar a game is quite a bit to ask. I know these newer pinball's are always asking a dollar but they at least cost a lot more to maintain. They have two pins. A Walking dead and Iron man. Both are in really nice condition. The pins are over by the pool tables. They are not with the regular arcade games. The sad part is that the tilt is set WAY to tight. Walking dead and Iron man are both newer stern games that are made to play fast and dunk the ball a lot. That is becuase most pin players will give the game a nudge to keep the ball going. Nudging IS pinball. They need to loosen up the tilt just a bit. That way the game is a little more playable. I didn't try the food so can't comment. Hawaiian heaven. Let me just say, I never EVER turn down an opportunity to eat here. Everything I've ever tried has been delicious! The teriyaki beef is tender and yummy beyond words. The short ribs are to die for. The fish is fresh. The korean chicken is bomb. The pancakes are tasty. I've been up down around and back on this menu and I'm always left satisfied. I came to KB EXTREME for the first time and was amazed at how big the place was! Our bowling ally in Hilo recently closed down so our only choice is Volcano or KB! I had the oxtail and it was out of this world. The portion wasn't to overwhelming and could be easily shared amongst 2 people.
