Held my Baby's 1st Birthday at KBXtreme and it was perfect! The communication and attentiveness from Nichole helped so much in planning this event. We rented out all three party rooms in the back of the Arcade. It was perfect for 40 people. Each room can be rented if you need one for a smaller gathering. They offer incredible party packages. The food is catered through Chubby's Diner their food is always good. We set-up the party room. Paid for four lanes for two hours complete with shoe rentals and paid for 20 x $10 cards to give to the kids of the party. Getting that private room is great. Comes with tables and chairs. One of them has a full size refrigerator. The service was amazing and the party went smoothly. Highly recommended for any event. read more

These guys are pretty amazing! Checked out the new arcade games where we spent a couple of hours playing kid-friendly games for 5-6 years old and ate dinner there. Portions were huge so we had left our food in the take out boxes and placed in the counter facing the arcade bc normally it'll still be there after we played at the arcade but someone was on a cleaning streak and had thrown it away. Went to the cashier and the first girl didn't know what to do but the manager was happy to comp! That was never our intent but she was so sweet about it. She even brought it to the arcade! I wish I had taken her name down!! As for the arcade, the guy who helped us was pretty awesome, he helped us with getting some prizes from the counter behind him and was very generous in giving us an additional 50 tix so we can get the inflatable sword my little guy wanted!! While on vacation in Kona for two weeks my husband and I brought our six and two year old boys here about seven times. They absolutely loved it and both said "the arcade" was their favorite part of the trip. Very clean, fun facility with lots of games for kids to enjoy. Bowling is easy and great for the family. Highly would NOT recommend this spot. Shuts down bowling lanes without notice - apparently a league can come in and take over ALL THE LANES. No notice or warning, not even a sign. Alcohol restrictions within the facilities - can't even walk a few feet from the bowling alley to the arcade with a beer in your hand without an employee coming over and taking it out of your hands and tell you it's not allowed in the arcade area. Wtf? 2 stars because the bartender was cool at least. read more

I've been coming here since I was little, bowling, arcade games, and the famous "chubbies diner". Well... now KBXtreme started owning the diner part and the food went to trash. Everything is different, the food is so gross and generic. Cheap quality ingredients and low quality as well. I'm so disappointed it's sad. I'd like to know who the old owner was and have them open a restaurant and serve the food the way it should be served. All in all it was horrible and I'm never eating there again. 17 years of coming to this restaurant, and I'm done!!! read more

Ultimate go to spot. Everything from grindz at Chubbys diner, Bowling and Arcade fun for the whole family, then an awesome bar with karaoke/game area. Basically fun for all ages!! The diner even serves you at your bowling lane!! Only down side is how strict they are at the bar area. Yes-everything must be a legal-BUT they bartenders do NOT have to each take a turns questioning you for ID...one time especially I was pointed out infront of my group of friends, there was like 10 of us, and asked for my ID and ONLY MY ID, after I was already checked...I was personally offended and definitely recommend for them to get that under control. They also don't allow children or "under age" customers at the bar area. My whole family was once asked to move tables just because my younger brother was not of age. That was my only bad experiences with the place. All the other hundred times I've been has been fun and obviously I keep going back...so it's a winner!! read more

This review is for the restaurant in Kona bowl, not for the bowling alley. So unfortunately there is a restaurant in this bowling alley called Chubby's. It's a small cafe in the Kona bowl. From yelp it says its located in Hilo but it is actually in kailua. The phone number is correct on the yelp business page but the location is totally off. And if you are not from around here it is a little hard to find because its behind some buildings and there is no huge sign to let you know its there. I'd have to say the food is good to be at a bowling alley. I got the chili and rice and it filled me up nice. ..that rhymed... It comes in a bowl with the rice on the side. Also it comes with a side and i got the macaroni salad. They at tuna to the mac salad and that made it pretty good. read more

Talk about a big nice bowling alley! It's very different from the ones on Oahu. It was weird that on a Sunday night it seemed empty. I would say there 7-10 lanes being used out of the 20+ lanes in the bowling alley. Off to the corner there is a restaurant called Chubby's There also was a cool looking bar. Overall the place looked modern with the fancy lights and there were fun factory style games for young kids and giant tvs playing sports. Music with a lot of bass was playing. Came here when we were vacationing during the summer and wow, I wish we had a bowling alley like that here in Oahu. For one, it's huge! & very modern and clean. I also like how they have an arcade and small diner. It was also cool how when you bowl you earn tickets that you can get prizes for. I can't forget about their oxtail soup!! One of the best I've ever had!!! They give a lot of meat and the broth was perfect. I can't wait to go back next time we're on Big Island. read more

We visit Kona every year and always make it a point to go this bowling alley. The food is yummy and reasonably priced. The bowling is fun and very user friendly. My kids LOVE the arcade and we were just there today 7/13/18 and the young man working is very helpful and polite. Whenever we had problems (machines that took our coins or ran out of tickets) he was always very quick to help and never made us feel like we were bothering him. He also was very patient with the kids as they redeemed their tickets. read more

This place is super awesome. Came here on a Sunday night to bowl, and then again during the afternoon for the arcade and some food. Expect to pay ~10 for a meal. From what I saw, portions are very decent. I only got fries, but they were really good! By the time we left the diner (Chubby's Diner) it was PACKED, always a good sign. The staff is really nice and helpful. Our first night there, the attendant was so great helping us get set up to bowl. After 9pm there is a deal, $10 per person for unlimited bowling, plus $3 for shoes. Our group of 5 bowled for nearly 3 hours, it was so much fun, even when we gutter balled! Even my 3-year-old niece was really into it. The bowling and bar area are super cool. Laser lights on the walls, very modern design. Near the bar there is a TV and lounge area with an Xbox (I assume one can play), as well as the standard bar and stools. The drink prices are okay, I wish they were stronger for the price. They do have cheap domestic beers, though. The arcade is what you would expect, with all the standard games. Nothing special, but not bad, either. KBXtreme is on my list of must-stops when in the Kona area. read more

This has got to be the most modern bowling alley I've seen. There's a $10 special Sunday to Thursday night from 9 to midnight. It includes shoes and unlimited bowling. They also have kids zone with games that spit out tickets. The lanes also have ticket spitting machines. Whenever you bowl a strike, you get 8 tickets. A spare, 4 tickets. So I had extra reason to do my best. Haha. After a game, you also get tickets. I racked up 300 tickets in about 2 hours of just bowling. Then I went to redeem it for prizes. If you need something to do in Kona, this is the place to be. The arcade is like Fun Factory. The games give you tickets you can trade for prizes. Even when you bowl, you earn tickets. The place gets crowded at dinnertime. The line for food can be 10-15 deep. The portions are large so if you eat in, there are take out containers. The Teri beef is excellent. The meat is soft and the sauce is just right, not overwhelming. The mac salad is old school, with tuna inside. The hamburger steak was served with mushrooms and onions. The fried noodles with bbq chicken was good. The noodles had a good flavor with the char siu and chicken mix. The place is well maintained. The bathrooms are clean The people at the bowling counter were nice and helpful. The people at the food counter were nice too. read more

We came here at night on Sunday since it was lightening so bad! Such a great deal! We got all you can bowl for $19 each including shoes and the best part is you get tickets whenever you make a strike/spare! We played a couple arcade games and ended up spending our tickets on some disappearing ink that I wanted to spill all over my sister once I got home. Your never too old to play jokes on your siblings right? Our Kalua pork nachos were the size of my head (big) and stuffed with toppings galore. The chewy brownie Sunday comes in this giant cup/bowl with God knows how many scoops and the strawberry shortcake were so delish! Just like how you'd make it at home. This would be a GREAT place if they fixed a few things. First, I understand that dealing with kids going crazy in an arcade is just not the best job. The woman with the crazy hair behind the counter just kept staring at me like I owed her money. I felt super uncomfortable. Second, the place was so packed I barely could play any games and just to get to the ticket counter I had to wait about 15 minutes. Also, the restaurant in there (chubby's diner) gave me really stale fries. When I politely asked for new ones (I don't mess with people who make my food) they brought out the same plate with the same stale fries (microwaved) and thought I wouldn't notice. I ended up eating it anyway. Overall I'd come here again. Just not on a Saturday night and not ordering fries again. read more
