Wow. AWFUL. Worst customer service EVER. We went in to buy donuts, should be noted that we are very regular customers and normally don't have any issues. We went through the drive thru ordered and she gave us the wrong donuts. We parked, went in and we politely asked to switch them out as we hadn't touched them just opened the box and noticed they were incorrect. She proceeded to say that they were ordered incorrectly and blamed the issue on us which was not the case. I asked her kindly if we could order new donuts and she grabbed the payment we had already provided and shoved it in my hand and refused service. Absolutely ridiculous reaction to a paying customer who kindly pointed out a mistake and even offered to reorder new items. She used her hand to shoo us out of the building and told us no. We will no longer support a business who treats its regular customers, or any customers like this. read more

Having grown up in Ventura it's a shame that today was only my second time visiting this cute little donut shop. While small, it's great that they not only have a drive-thru but also accept credit cards for purchases over 5 dollars and it was amazing how much we got for that. Two cake donuts, one cinnamon roll, a bear claw and a giant cinnamon glazed twist. Everything tasted fresh and delicious with friendly service to boot. read more

KD Donuts are the best donuts in Ventura! I always get an old fashioned chocolate donut when I go here and it has an unbelievably satisfying crunch and crumble to it that you can only get from a freshly made donut. Every night you can smell them baking more donuts for the next day and the scent is intoxicating. They also have some delicious fritters that are massive with great fruit flavor and the perfect amount of cinnamon in them. The only downside to this place is that sometimes when you try and go through the front door it is locked and you do not (ha, another pun!) feel very welcome. This is remedied by the fantastic donut though. They also have a 24 hour drive through right on the side of the building for all of your late night sweet cravings. I always would get donuts at KD in high school since it's right next to the popular mall shopping center and tons of houses. I still stop by there on my way home from work. The employees are always very nice and generous. The same man is usually there when I go around midnight, and always helps me right away. Great prices and a large selection. Open 24 hours! read more

In town visiting a friend, we desire drunken donuts at 2am. The guy serving us donuts is chillin in some awesome fish swim trunks , Hawaiin t shirt, and an apron. Seriously this guy is living the dream. We asked for a dozen and a milk, guy comes back with a donut box that we can't close. This place has been around since I was little. We've long since moved from Ventura however whenever I come home to visit, my sisters and I would make it an event to go to KD's donuts, and they would recognize us (10 years later). Although within recent years I believe the owners have changed, the recipes have not. KD donuts are the most delicious "Americana" you can buy ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Absolutely yummy! I came here the other day for the first time for some doughnuts. The first thing I noticed was how rundown the place was. For example there were oldhand written signs with poster board half taped to the wall and peeling off. I asked for a half dozen doughnut holes. As the lady put down the doughnuts on the counter one rolled out. She simply put it back in the bag, gross! Then I noticed when I got home I only got 5 doughnuts and not 6...Overall I was not happy. read more

I know right?! Who writes a review on Donuts??? I guess that would be me. First off, I love donuts, but I'm pretty particular on which place I go. I mean Fosters on Seaward is open later than most shops so its great if you want a late dessert. And Thompson's Donuts by Vons is great if you like a frosted glazed donut with frosting on top, they frost everything... But K D's donuts are FRESH!!! and even though they don't frost the entire donut, the donuts I do get there are the French Cruellers, if you don't know what this is? Its a donut made with custard, they take longer to make and they cost more, but man are they worth it!!! I also love just plain frosted cake donuts and this place does it justice. And its only 9 bucks for a fancy dozen.... (fancy - meaning you can get cream or jelly filled, twists etc) in addition to the regular cake donuts! They have donut holes that are to die for.... love love love them! read more

My friend introduced me to this place and now it is my go-to for donuts in the Ventura area. Simply delicious...they have standard offerings that are everything you expect and want in a traditional donut shop. The 24-hr drive through is really convenient, plus it means you can get hot donuts since they make them in the middle of the night/very early morning. I like that they seem to use better quality cooking oil than some of the other donut shops in town. I recommend the plain old fashioned, which has a hint of citrus to make it more special. But, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you choose. I've been happy with everything I've tried so far. read more

I waited weeks to visit this place and had high expectations. There are several donut shops closer to my house than this one but I decided to make the drive in hopes of scoring some great donuts. I arrived mid-day and the sign said the shop was closed for an hour. No big deal. I went to the mall to walk around for a bit and came back to (gladly) see the open sign lit up. The sign next to it said to please use the drive-thru. Cool, I thought. This would be an interesting experience. I pulled up to the drive-thru and since I have a low car I had to get out and order. It was kind of weird. I felt weary to get out of my car because there was a homeless man hanging out around the back but oh well, not the donut shop's fault. I read that the staff is extremely nice and helpful, but the lady that took my order wasn't nice (she wasn't mean either). I was trying to figure out which donuts I wanted because I don't know the names and they don't have a display at the drive-thru. I felt like she was getting irritated, but it's totally my fault. I'm a clueless donut-picker. They were out of the ones I wanted so I ended up with 2 white cake donuts with chocolate frosting and an apple fritter for my girlfriend. The cake donuts were very good, they looked homemade and tasted fresh. They had the nice crunchy-on-the-outside and fluffy-on-the-inside thing about them. Better than the average donut. My girlfriend's apple fritter was huge! I didn't try any but she said it was average. Our total was $3.25, which is a great price in my book. All in all, it was a weird experience but the donuts were good and cheap. I'll just go earlier and hit the indoor shop hours next time. read more
