I spotted this shop a few weeks ago on a Grocery Outlet run and have been meaning to try it. Today was the day. They sell lottery tickets and proudly display winning tickets on their walls. There was a woman behind me that told me this has been her favorite donut place in Ventura and has been coming here for 20 yrs. The cashier confirmed it been the same owner for 20 yrs. I got a maple bar and a chocolate old fashion. As other comments have said, these donuts do not have that strange oil aftertaste that some shops do. They are also sweet but not overly sweet. Maple bars will always own my heart so it was my favorite of the two but the chocolate old fashion was also really tasty. Both were soft and freshly baked tasting. They had some really large donuts and specialty ones but you can't go wrong with a basic maple bar or old fashion. Yes, the donuts are going to cost you $2.50+ per donut but just like everything going up in price, it's only expected that a small donut shop ought to do the same. I am more than happy to support local businesses especially when the product you receive is good quality. read more

8-25-24 Walked in and did not see any regular milk (had pretty much every other drink) every donut shop ive been to in my life over the decades always had milk. So i took my business somewhere else. First I'll start by saying the place was clean and at 3 pm on a Saturday they had customers eating donuts at the tables. My friend and I decided to do a taste comparison of maple bars and glazed donuts of two local donut spots. We randomly chose KD Village Donuts and Sun Village Donuts. The difference: APPEARANCE: SV- fresher looking & perky, maple was not as thick as KD. Normal size KD - droopy (could be because of the weight/size), maple was thicker on donut, very big TASTE: SV: buttery, maple tasted the same on both KD: you can taste the oils aftertaste, and it was a little crispy outside because of the oil FLUFFLINESS/DENSITY: SV: lighter and less dense KD: slightly dense SWEETNESS: SV: Less sweet than KD, still sweet. KD: very sweet, especially the glaze. SIZE: SV: Normal size KD: very large donuts WINNER OF MAPLE BARS: Sun Village Donut WINNER OF GLAZED: Sun Village Donut Side note, my friend also got the very large cinnamon twist from KD and it had minimal cinnamon. read more

I bought three regular donuts and it was over 10$. other shops that have the same quality and set up are half the price. The last time I had donuts was back in the 90's. The Winchells donuts. Never found one that is good and tasty until today. Sun Village Donuts . So far the donuts that we tried today are very very good. I just started coming here a couple of weeks ago and have already been back four times. Lol! I am not a big fan of sweets, so I haven't tried the donuts yet! I will soon, though! Maybe I will buy a variety of them for the family to try just so I can try a tiny piece of each for the sake of trying them. Anyways, I come here for the boba! The green tea boba is my favorite and the boba always fresh and warm! The drink is not overly sweet, either! I still need to try every other flavor they have. I was hoping to get the blueberry cake that day but they told me it was only seasonal to October/Halloween (which is coming up so Ill be back!) Ended up getting chocolate glaze donut ($1.75), maple bar filled with custard ($1.75), and a sourdough ham, cheese, and egg sandwich (~$3.50). Love love these donuts! I was hoping to find a good donut shop when we moved to Cali and I'm so happy we have one so close to our place! The 1st time we tried this place by boyfriend picked up a various dozen for breakfast and then we went a 2nd time before grocery shopping at Ralph's. I love this place because it's just a good simple donut shop no $4 for a single donut or cruddy donuts covered up by mounds of toppings. So far we've had the chocolate cake donut, maple bacon, Boston cream, chocolate long john, frosted & sprinkled, sugar twist, a few others and this big idk what it's called but it was topped with chocolate chips and stuffed with this amazing chocolate filling. Every single one has been delicious! I believe a variety half dozen cost us about $8 and some change. Yes sometimes they do close early due to them being out of donuts but honestly to me that's just a sign that they sell a good product & they're not gonna throw together a few sloppy batches just to stay open a few more hours. Even if it's just one I definitely recommend picking up a donut from them next time you're wanting a sweet treat. read more

It sucks that early in the morning they have a small selection (about 30 minutes after opening) and right before closing they do as well. Don't bother calling in the evening about what they have because they stop making them sometime in the afternoon and despite what the employee says, they do not have a wide selection closer to closing time. read more
