After three years since moving to LA I finally found New Sun Auto Service and they turned out to be stellar. They do a whole suite of different services. I went for brakes services and air conditioning. Didn't air conditioning service after all but the brakes service went speedy and the manager J. Rodriguez was super friendly and broke down all my options beforehand and let me decide what package was best for me. Service only took couple hours in and that was perfect because I could get a nice leisurely lunch at the world-famous Pink's hotdogs one block away. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon. They aren't just mechanics, they do body work, upgrades, and custom work if you want to improve your car, not just maintain. Great experience! Couldn't recommend them enough!

It's one of the best decisions I have made this year. Will was able to come out with a day or so and run a diagnostics check, quickly locating the issue and showing me the results. He explained to me what the issue was, discussed options, gave me a full quote and a price - highly competitive. With me agreeing to what needed to be done, he ordered the part (Saturday) and came back the next day (Sunday) to install it. Incredibly helpful and so polite, he showed me the new part, walked me through what he was going to do and afterward even showed me the part he removed and explained the wear and why it was actually perfect timing. Within hours I was up and running again, good as new. I have NEVER had service like this from a dealership in all my years of being a car owner and driver (and that's several decades). Will also flagged other things that I needed to be aware of (including needing an oil change - which I will be getting him to come and do) but at no point pushed for me to do them there and then - zero pressure, just guidance. He repeatedly asked if I had any questions and was keen for me to understand what was happening and why - superb! He even cleared up the work area after he'd finished. Flawless. Aside from the convenience and Will just being an incredibly nice guy, his attention to detail and service are second to none. Friendly and knowledgable, he works hard to make sure you understand what he's doing, and is professional and polite at every step along the way. The woman who helped me that morning was stood behind the main desk and clocked eyes w me as I started coming in from the man door. In that moment, she decided to leave out of the back door. No greeting, no hospitality, just left. So I sat for around 5 minutes. She came back with a man I hadn't met yet and he greeted me while she ignored me and I watched as she grabbed her belongings, avoiding eye contact the whole time and acting like I was invisible. She tried to leave before I addressed her. she was forced to let me know she's going on break. Aha! Why would I give money to a company who treats their clientele like they're an inconvenience ? He told me this check up could technically take days. This wasn't told to me that morning and you'd think that piece of information is important. I took my car and a receipt to prove they did nothing on it and happy to take business elsewhere - somewhere where they take better care of their customers.

After the repairs, the splash shield was missing. When I brought this up to the shop, I was told they had nothing to do with it and that it may have already been missing when the vehicle arrived. The problem is, I personally saw the part on the vehicle when it was dropped off. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures beforehand, which I regret. The shop also told me they don't replace missing parts. That leaves the customer in a difficult position when a part is missing after the vehicle has been in their possession, especially when the customer has no way to prove exactly what happened. What makes this even more frustrating is that my insurance company won't discuss the part directly with the shop, leaving me stuck in the middle trying to resolve something that should have been handled professionally. I'm not accusing anyone of intentionally taking the part because I cannot prove that. However, the way this situation was handled has completely damaged my trust in this shop. Customers should be able to leave their vehicles with a repair facility knowing that all parts will be accounted for and returned with the vehicle. I strongly recommend taking detailed pictures and documenting every part of your vehicle before leaving it at this shop. I wish I had done that myself.

The next day, they called me saying they fixed the radiator, but there was an internal leaking issue that the mechanic couldn't figure out and that I should immediately go trade in the car before the engine fails. He gave me zero plausible or any technical explanation for what the origin of the issue was and added another 100 dollars to my service fee. I decided to take my car to a mechanic who is more accustomed to dealing with Subarus with the incredibly vague explanation I received from the mechanic rather than go sell or trade in the car because one person told me he can't fix it. The next day, I received an actual explanation of what the issue was, which was a cross contamination issue with the coolant and engine oil that can happen with the specific engine that Subarus are equipped with and he was able to give me an actual quote to fix the issue rather than telling me to trade in or sell the car. Furthermore, he said that changing the radiator should have only cost me a couple hundred dollars max and that the issue with the engine could have been prevented if I went to an experienced mechanic in the first place! I was overcharged by more than double the actual price of parts and service and literally told to go trade in the car after paying $880 dollars, which I had to haggle down from $900 after the price increased overnight. Please don't come here for any repairs as they are not qualified to provide proper service, yet will overcharge you without any agreement.
