I was told by the owner Pablo that the diagnostic was 89 dollars and that it would go towards the payment of the service. That was a lie. They charged me separately for both and when I asked about it he lied to my face about the cost of the service. So I asked specific questions about that but he didn't answer directly. Then he said the diagnostic charge only goes towards the service if the service costs more than the diagnostic charge which is completely different than what he quoted me initially. I won't be returning because I don't trust shady business owners. I'm grateful to have my car back and everything seems to be working fine. So be careful because they can switch things up on you last minute. read more

we have been coming to Pablo for many years now and we are pleased with his service and affordable prices. Service seems to be his mantra. Once we had a leak in a radiator around 5:30 PM. I called Pablo and he said he would wait for the tow truck to drop off my car. And when you are waiting for a tow truck to pick you up, it seems to take longer than expected. But Pablo waited for me well after closing time. Another time I occasionally heard some rattling in the back of my car. Took it to Pablo, but he could not detect the sound. I took the car back and on certain occasions heard the rattling again. Back to Pablo and he suggested to take a drive together and take him to a stretch of road where I would hear the sound. The sound was most pronounced on a stretch on Stocker Street, we both heard it, Pablo found the problem and fixed it for a good price. I went to Pablo's shop because I was told that he does reliable work, and charges fair prices. The first time I went to his shop I pulled in, and was completely ignored until I said hello. That was the first red flag. Pablo gave me a quote (for a turn signal replacement) and it was fair but I just didn't have the money at the time and had to wait to come back. The second time I came back (I still needed the turn signal replacement, and now my horn wasn't working AND was not welcomed nor did he acknowledge that I was standing there with nobody around) he quoted me $100 more to fix the horn as well since he would already have the steering wheel off to replace the turn signal. After my car was done, I arrived at the shop and he pointed to the cashier station saying "I need you to sign those papers" Once again no greeting (I'm not even needing it to be friendly at this point). I told him I wasn't comfortable signing anything until I looked at my car. And he said verbatim "why does it matter if you look at the car you're still gonna have to pay me anyways" At this point I had had enough of the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I walked to my car to check it, and the turn signal was safely attached and it worked but the horn did not. I asked him why he charged me $100 more to look at a part that didn't even get fixed. He blatantly lied in my face and told me $100 more was for an original turn signal. This was never discussed. I called him out on it, and he tripped over his words, he also mentioned that he didn't remember me asking to look at the horn. He was so manipulative and lied straight to my face. I walked away, telling him that he could keep the hundred dollars and I hope that he would bless his family. Do you yourself a favor and take your hard earned money elsewhere. I wouldn't send anyone to him simply because of his arrogance and horrible customer service. I would give 0 stars if I could! read more

I bought a 2008 Dodge Avenger for a cheap price on the Internet, I bought it knowing it had some issues. One of them being the front bearing and the oil lamp keeps coming on, and making rumbling noises. Pablo did an excellent Job and on the same day after only 1 and a half hours i could pick my car up without any noise or problems. I payed around 600 dollars after tax for the front bearing replacement, which is giving the condition of the front bearings and the good service a fair price. I think the Pablo is a great mechanic and pretty honest human being. He has fixed my car two times in which the dealership would have charged me more than $1000 dollars for the services. Well let's begging with the fact that he fixed my A/C for a bit less than $800 whereas in another locations the same issue was quoted for more than $1200. The second time he fixed the ABS sensors knowing that my car was showing the ABS/ VSA and wheel steering sensors on the dashboard. When I took it to him, he told me that he would make sure to fix it and no worry about the quote. I was expecting to pay around $300 and $150 but I know that if I had took it to a dealership it would have costed me more than $600 dollars. Like many of you, I wait until the last possible moment to take my car in for maintenance. As a daughter of a mechanic back in the Midwest, I should be more ashamed - but hey, dad always fixed things for me. My last trip to Firestone was wrought with embarrassment. My check engine light had been on for months and after it broke down in the middle of Olympic during Friday night rush hour, I decided it was time to see Pablo. He kept my car for the weekend and ran the necessary tests to diagnose my car. They made the changes and I was back in my car by Monday morning. After driving my car around for a few hours, I noticed something still wasn't right, so I gave them a call. They kept it for another half-day and after running tests and making more adjustment, it was as good as new. And he didn't even charge me for the additional repairs. It's hard to find a good "neighborhood" mechanic in LA and I feel fortunate to have found these guys. They're honest and as nonjudgmental as you can get when someone neglects their car as badly as I do. read more

I got an estimate in about 15 minutes, walked to Ross and spent 45 minutes trying on cheap jeans that I didn't purchase but that at least allowed me to delusionally believe I am still a perfect itsy-bitsy size (cheap jeans run bigger than designer, I swear), walked back and paid, and drove off in my lil car with brakes that no longer squeak. Pablo is a great, honest guy. Love his attitude and service. We took my brother 1985 Camaro to get a transmission inspection and motor. There was a loud noise when you shift to reverse. He checked the car and found the problem with the transmission and motor. I guess the bolts holding the transmission and motor together where kind of loose. Another thing, the power steering pump was leaking which he fixed and did not charge a penny for it. I really love his attitude the most. In my book attitude and honesty is a 100% to go. read more

I've been taking my car to Pablo since he ran the Firestone on La Cienega. (BTW, the website link above is no longer accurate, since someone else moved into that Firestone after Pablo started his own shop, PMC.) The first time I stopped into the Firestone because it was close to my place. I had just moved to LA so I didn't know where to take my car. Pablo fixed it that time and I had such a good experience that he's fixed my cars for more than 10 years now. After my last car was pronounced dead or needing $2000 worth of repairs by the dealer, Pablo kept it going with minimal repairs for another two years. Every time something needs to be replaced, Pablo explains everything clearly, and shows me the difference between the new part and the old part. Even when I feel like I'm asking a hundred questions, he is extremely patient and thorough. I bought a used car a few years ago, and took it to Pablo to be checked out before buying, because I trust him implicitly. With my most recent car, I've continued to have nothing but fair, fast, honest service with very good prices. I'm (finally) compelled to write a review because yesterday I went in, armed with a list of 8 or 9 things, from an oil change to squeaking brakes to a nagging whine when I turned the steering wheel sharply. In just a few hours, everything was fixed, and they even topped off my wiper fluid. Not only that, the alignment guys I go to had recently tried to bully me into getting new front tires, using scare tactics to try to get me to buy immediately. Luckily I waited to get the real story from Pablo - he didn't just tell me, he showed me my tires and why they could wait another few months. He never tries to up-sell, and if he tells you you need something replaced, you can trust that you need it done immediately. If it can wait, he'll tell you.
