I took three very simple dining room chairs to Mr. New for refinishing. I was told they were a…read morelittle behind but they would be completed in 6-8 weeks. Five months later they were still not refinished. It was not until I asked to pick up my chairs and get a refund of the deposit that they were completed. Mr. New and his staff profess what a great job they do. Well for me, not so much. I provided an already refinished chair I wanted to match. When I went to pick up my chairs they did not match. They did correct the color but in doing so covered up the beautiful graining of the wood. I was not offered any discount for the color issue or the extra 1.5 hours and gas I spent driving back and forth nor was any discount offered for the 5 month wait. Mr. New is great at making promises and excuses but poor at completing work. Pricing compared to others is at the top of the range.

Mr. New was engaged earlier this year to refinish some antique furniture of ours, including a…read moredining room table and a table leaf. He returned the furniture but did not return the leaf, saying that he did not know that it belonged to us, despite our having had a conversation about refinishing the leaf and then my subsequently giving it to him and his crew when they came out to pick up our table. The last communication I have had from him was a voicemail which he left on April 1, 2022, saying that he would return the leaf to us. He has not responded to attempts to communicate with him since then. Because of the choices he has made in this matter, we will be looking into any kind of legal action which can be employed to get our property returned to us. He does not even deserve one star for a rating.

You can judge by the pictures. I have used Tracy Rivers and her company for years. She has always…read moredone great work. However, the photos below show she has taken a great fall from where she has been. She refuses to make things right. She hired incompetent contractors who ruined these cabinets. As you can see the paint is too thick, wood was not properly prepared, filled, and sanded. I thought we had a great relationship, I even paid her more than her bids when I felt she was too low. This is how she leaves bad work.

This business is a fraud and dishonest. I had Facebook messaged them on December 3rd, 2017, asking…read moreif they could paint a couple rooms in my house fairly quickly. I told them if they couldn't, I totally understood, I just wanted to ask first. They stated it shouldn't be an issue and set up an appointment to come to our house. Tracy came to our house on December 5th around 4:30. Tracy and I went over what I wanted. I told her I wanted the 2 rooms painted gray and then a stencil on one wall and to finish the brick above my fireplace. They said they could do all that and then "paint" the brick on and it would look really good. They sent the estimate the next day. I had a couple questions because as a nurse, I of course like to figure out all the details and document it, so I sent them an email. Within this email I asked if that estimate included the living and dining room being painted gray among several other questions. They barely answered any questions in their reply. I asked in an email again to answer my questions. Still no answer to all my questions. I had also asked how much extra it would be to paint my tiny hallway. The response was "we'll look at it but it shouldn't be that big a deal," so I assumed that meant it was included - wouldn't you? Well since I knew Tracy had confirmed in our meeting that the walls would be painted gray, the stenciling would be done, and the fireplace done, I decided to go against my gut feeling and ask them when I needed to pay my deposit. Kelly picked it up Friday. I tried to ask Kelly my questions. Her response was "oh I don't know anything John just sent me over to pick up the check." I decided to call John. No answer. So I sent a text. No answer. I just gave them $650. Saturday comes along and still no answer so I decided to Facebook message them. An "Ashley" replied stating they aren't open on the weekends but she would pass the message on on Monday. I said ok well I called and texted him on Friday and still didn't get an answer? Well she didn't respond - SURPRISE! So Monday comes along and they had plenty of time to go cash my check that morning. Well finally John decided to call my HUSBAND after I had to send a reminder text that morning to call me. He told my husband they would get started Wednesday. So I asked John to have Tracy call me at 4 on Monday since John was obviously on a different page. Well of course, surprise again, she didn't call! So I sent a text around 5 telling John I never got a call from Tracy. He called me around 5:30. He said "Tracy wasn't available but was seeing if he could answer any of my Questions." Is no one allowed to speak with Tracy? Anyways I asked him why they were starting on Wednesday when Tracy assured me they would start at the end of last week or beginning of this week. He said that's just how they work and usually it's "3-4 weeks" before they get started with anyone. I told him I had said before if they weren't available fairly quickly that I understood so if that was the case I would have liked to have known. Anyways I let it slide and asked him about when the rooms would be painted gray and my other questions. He stated "oh we're not painting the rooms. We are only painting those "walls."" I said ummm that's not what Tracy told me and explained what she had said. He said he would have to call Tracy and then "call me back." He said this about 3 times that he would call me back that night. Did he call? Nope! He was a coward and decided to email me stating I "misunderstood" but he would be "more than happy to call their painter and we could pay them to paint the walls." Um I am already paying you $1300 - I think you can paint the walls. And I'm sorry, I didn't misunderstand, you guys just lied to me and my family right before Christmas. Anyways I saw the email on Tuesday morning. I immediately called them. No answer - SURPRISE! I try to Facebook message them. He blocked me. Ha! This just keeps getting better and better! He finally decides to call me at 9 and stated "they weren't ignoring me - they just don't open until 9." I said "ok, well why didn't you call me back last night then since that's what u said you were gonna do?" He said he tried but "couldn't get through." I guess his fingers were broken to be able to send a text stating that since that's how they communicate usually. Well then he decides to get rude and says "we charge more for our painting and obviously you weren't prepared for that" then he decides to hang up on me! But WAIT! It gets even better! My husband tried to drive to the business to get our money back and JOHN jumps in his car and drives away after he sees my husband! Hah! Wow!

I had two cement bathroom sinks repaired and resurfaced. One sink turned out fine, the other has…read moresquishy bubbled up places in the finish. They have tried to fix it twice, but it's still there. I was told the cement must have a contamination in it that's causing the problem. They had never seen this before. My house was on the market and has sold, so I'm out of time to keep trying. I contacted them weeks ago and said the bubbles were still there and left another message after that. It appears they are not going to set up a time to come try again. Nor have I been offered a refund of any kind, since I did not get what I paid for. This has been going on for months and never resolved. Because of the shiny surface, the bubbled up places are hard to see, so I'm sure our buyer did not notice them. I'm afraid when something is dropped in the sink, the bubbles will tear open on them. Additionally, if I had been shown the paperwork they left me with beforehand, I would not have done this to begin with. I told Mr. Hickman I was having trouble with the original finish, and that everything dropped into the sink would nick it, and it would begin to peel and that I wanted something tough and chemical resistant. He said he could do that. The paperwork says don't drop things in the sink and if you are using bleach mix with water to 10% only and never get nail polish remover on it (no one has that in their bathroom, right?). How is that tough and chemical resistant? A guy can't drop his razor, and find somewhere else to do your nails. Same problems I had to begin with. Also, I asked Mr. Hickman if they could handle the plumbing. He just said yes, with no qualifications. Turns out, that's only if there are no problems. So, be aware you may end up paying a plumber anyway or doing it yourself, if something goes awry, like a part breaks. Update: Mr. Hickman has since told me the paperwork that I was left with does not apply to the finish we got (except for the nail polish remover part) ... but that's what the the tech gave me, and that's still a problem. My husband did drop his razor and it nicked the finish. Given the bubbles, it appears it hasn't adhered properly to the surface.
