OMG, this is Texas BBQ at its best. Me and the wife were traveling through and decided to stop for fuel and KD's was right there off the freeway. I was a little skeptical at first but once I walked up I got the vibe this place was legit and it was. They have every type of meat you expect from a BBQ. We tried a little bit of everything. The dry rub ribs just melted off the bone, cooked to perfection. The sweet ribs were the same only more wet but just as tasty. The brisket had that perfect outside coating giving it that traditional Texas taste. They were a bit dry but very delicious. It was a little pasted 11am and the line went out the door so make sure you have some time. The line went quick bc the meats are laid out and you pick what you want and pay by the pound. The sides are included but a little on the weak side (only due to the fact that there is only beans and condiments). The beans were awesome (reminded me of my moms), and the potato salad and cole slaw were extra. They are pricey but totally worth it. Had my husbands 50th birthday party at this place. Decided to do it here because of the large Bar room you can rent, (reasonable price) and Ms K was very helpful and great with details. We were able to set up and decorate earlier and it was a Saturday the party turned out great and the crew stayed right there and Bar-tended as well as making sure my guest had everything they needed. A great BBQ joint. The brisket was tender and juicy and the sausage was tasty also. A little confusing when you walk in, but there are plenty of people to point you in the right direction. This place just might be worth moving to Midland for. Great barbecue with all you would expect from a great barbecue restaurant. This is a go through the alleyway walk up and you tellem what pieces to slice off for you. The staff is very attentive to when your tea glass is getting low which i really appreciate. I hadn't eaten here in almost 20 yrs but BF and I tried it past Fri. We both has one slice of brisket each and he added some sausage links on his tray, but after weighing our plates, before going to the Sides tables, both came to $8.25. The 'free sides' table on ly comes with Pinto beans and the usual condiments like pickled peppers, raw onions, pickles, etc. the potato salad was an 'extra charge' so I only had a small bowl of the beans and as BF doesn't like beans, he only had the onions and peppers. The brisket was a bit too salty for both our tastes and had a good deal of fat on the sides. I think it's overpriced and $8.25 seems to be the minimum charge regardless of how little meat you get. They should have thrown in the potato salad at this price, and to make up for the fat being weighed along with the meat. We won't try again as we don't like our food so salty, nor our brisket so fatty, and it really isn't a good deal, considering all. It seems to have new management, an Asian family. read more

The food is gross and unbelievably expensive. I remember when this place was actually good, but now it's awful. Lots of fat in the meat. We complained and got another serving of fat. The people at the adjacent table had their food replaced twice and finally gave up and left. I went there recently because a customer really wanted to go there. Interior and decorations lend itself to an inviting place for good barbecue. Real strong Texas feel. Unfortunately for me the main attraction, meat, Left something to be desired. At 5 PM I'm about to choose some meat only to be told three different meats that they normally carry they are out of. Great way to start your order right at the beginning of the dinner hour. So I picked three other meats, brisket, sausage and pork ribs. The sausage was as good as you could expect, the rib meat was tough And the brisket was fair at best. First of all, I love KD's Bar-B-Q. With that being said, I've eaten some pretty good barbecue around Texas. Kreutz Barbecue in Lockhart, along with Black's, and Smitty's, or Cooper's in Llano, depending on the day and the time, and the mood of the staff, you will find the best brisket anywhere. KD's is up there with those guys. And, although ribs are hit or miss for any restaurant, or any home smoker, for that matter, KD's also acquits themselves well. Sausage? Sorry, but there is only one place on the planet to get sausage, and that's Southside Meat market in Elgin, Texas. No comparison anywhere. But, as I say, I really like KD's, and go there everytime I'm in Midland. read more

If you want good BBQ, this is the place. Our dealer took me there last time. I couldn't wait to go back and take my co-worker. Worked a12hr day and went straight to it. Walked in, you pick up a tray and they put the meat right on the tray. (only way to eat BBQ). Picked the brisket, hot links, potato salad, slaw, and of course, sweet tea. You pay by the pound. A little pricey, but worth it. Top it off with a bean, sauce, and condiment bar, and all I could say at the end was "oink!" My buddy kept trying to win the "eat till you die" contest, but didn't make it. He couldn't believe how good it was. I travel globally. This is one of the best! Well its right off Interstate in Midland Tx exit 131 (Garden City Hwy) it's not fancy, but far from nasty. It's got class if you have friends and listen to Garth Brooks in low places. Seriously though I'm joking! The place is definitely a one of a kind. Worth the trip from North of Midland to South of missing an exit and back tracking. It's very comfortable inside, decorated with memorabilia from Midland. There's plenty of seating to go around it looks like they have a Food Bar I'm just not sure if it's all day I made it there at closing 8 o'clock on Wednesday. They took my order on the phone as I left location (30 min before closing) and promise to be there when I got there, around 8:15 if need be. Their southern hospitality is match to none in Midland Freakin Tx. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience I walked in found the counter to pay and they had my food ready. Ribs which were very good moist, with just the right seasoning and brisket to die for. I'm from East Texas and used to good BBQ. This is definitely up there with my favorites back home in Longview and Shreveport La. I had enough food for three days for 21 bucks. I'll admit the brisket was absolutely fantastic. I liked it all but easily could have just eaten the big B. I hope you try it and have the same great personal friendly experience I had. Great BBQ!!! I have lived in midland for 2 yrs now and this is by far my favorite place to eat. All the meat is presented on the a large grill when you walk in, you pick what you want and they cut you off a piece right there. We were in the mood for BBQ and thought we'd give K D's a try. I saw that they had a crowd for lunch, but everyone in Midland has a busy lunch. What a disappointment! The brisket was tough and lacked a genuine smoked flavor (tasted like liquid smoke was added). The potato salad had a slight sour taste and the beans were bland. We dropped $43 for two adults and young child for dinner on a Friday night. We had leftovers and normally would take them home with us. We decided to dump the leftovers where the entire meal should have gone... in the trash! Will never give this place a second try. KD's was our 2nd experience eating BBQ in Texas on a recent trip back to Alabama. We had driven from El Paso and was going to spend the night in Big Spring. We stopped in Odessa to eat, however couldn't find anything decent. As we drove towards Big Spring, we saw a freeway sign for KD's and decided to see what it was like. When we drove up it looked like maybe it wasn't even open. We discovered where the entrance was and that indeed it was open. We walked up the ramp and went through a screen door. We were immediately greeted by a Hispanic woman who asked if we'd been there before. We said no, so she proceeded to explain to us how it all worked. Then a very nice young man came up and greeted us. It was an experience we will remember for a long time. Not only was the food fantastic, the ambiance of the whole place was fantastic. I asked if I could take pictures and I took a whole bunch. They are posted on my blog as I blogged that trip. Our final destination was Enterprise, AL. We returned west through the southern part of Texas otherwise we would have stopped at KD's again!! read more
