"Shut up and take my money!", is what I said out loud when I saw the proofs of the family photography session that we did with Ms. Keao. Both sides of the family met in Oahu for vacation, and months prior I suggested that we should hire a professional photographer so we could 1) remember the occasion, and 2) have some updated photos of the family as we have our newest addition: our son Xavier. After doing my required Yelp searching, I narrowed it down to 4 photographers who specialize in children's photography. Though Keao was the priciest of the 4, I chose her because she didn't put a time limit on her session. I thought this was key because my son was only 7 months and not only was I unsure how he would handle the time difference, but he's just fidgety and unpredictable at this age! Communication was really easy via email and all my questions were answered. She also provided good tips on styling, which was useful as there would be 8 of us and we wanted to have some sort of cohesiveness. The session itself went smoothly, even though Xavier fell asleep about 20 minutes in! We still took advantage and had her photograph all the possible family combinations while he took a nap. Looking at the photos, you can't even tell that Xavier was cranky, haha. Also, I felt as if she captured us how we really are... it's hard to explain. Looking at a photo of me and my sister-in-law being silly, it just made me think, "OMG this is us!!" I'm extremely happy with the work Keao's done, and can't wait to show the photos off on my social media accounts, Christmas 2017 cards, and any other occasion in the future. My husband and I wanted to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a photo session... especially because we did not have official photos at our wedding, which was at a Las Vegas Casino Wedding Chapel (yes we were married by an Elvis impersonator). Keao sent us several emails to remind us of the date and time, gave us tips about what to wear to make our photos "pop", and was a bundle of fun! Keao made our session enjoyable, even making us laugh to ease the awkwardness of having our photo taken... yes she even convinced us (we are very prim and proper) to have kiss on camera. We just had our second session with Keao and words can't express how impressed we are with her work. She did a family session for us in December and just did one in June of our two year old daughter. She was very professional and at the same time was able to put our family at ease. She made it a fun experience and was able to get beautiful shots even when our daughter wasn't an easy subject. My brother was in town from Seattle and we just moved back to Hawaii from China so we wanted to capture our small family reunion. Life is unpredictable so we wanted get pictures of all of us together while we had the opportunity. There were 10 of us altogether and Keao was able to get all of us in one photo looking in the same direction and smiling...miracle..considering 3 of them were under the age of 5! We worked with Keao this Summer when my family and my parents met up in Kolina for our annual Hawaii trip. I had found her on Yelp and contacted her through her website, and she got back to me right away. She asked me some questions to get an idea of what kind of photo session we were looking for. We confirmed the date and time we were going to meet, and she told us that we'd be meeting at sunrise so that we could capture the beautiful morning light. This wasn't really a problem since we were on Mainland time anyway and we had scheduled the shoot for the day after we arrived. We touched base a few days before we were scheduled to arrive in Hawaii and she confirmed where we would meet. Once we got together, she had us do some posed shots in different groups, and some action shots of the kids playing in the sand and water. She was very flexible and receptive to what we wanted, and she also knew exactly where to place us to get the best angle. The photos all turned out beautifully. She was a pleasure to work with, before, during, and after the shoot, and now we have amazing pictures that we will cherish forever and remember the annual Summer trips to Hawaii with my parents. Keao has been our family photographer since we moved back to Hawaii 3.5 years ago!! She does our family photos annually. Every year I am thrilled and so happy with our pics! Keao is very easy to work with and the kids love her! She is reliable and accommodating as well! She gives good guidance when we need suggestions for "poses" and placement for great shots, but also very much allows me to share my ideas and helps me implement those ideas for the photoshoot. The pics are incredible--she makes everything look beautiful! Lastly, we appreciate her pricing. Professional photography in Hawaii for family photos are very expensive. We wouldn't be able to afford doing this every year if it wasn't for her more affordable options. I appreciate that Keao has different levels of pricing for the different packages- even for the number of people in the photoshoot. There aren't fees for every little thing and for all packages you get the digital copies and rights to the photos so that you can use them how you want! This year, we couldn't spend as much on professional photography, but were able to afford the Fairytale package. We got to see the roughly 75 best photos and will be selecting our 10 favorites.
