We had hale damage to our roof. I was familiar with Kearns Brothers from past experience. We had at least 5 other roofing companies knock on our door - non of whom I was familiar with. They were like locusts!! When I found a flyer in our mail from Kearns I gave them a call. The sales rep. showed up the next day and did a thorough inspection. A couple of weeks later an 8 person crew showed up exactly on time to do a complete new roof while all the time working with my insurance company. Both Matt (sales) and Brandon (project coordinator) kept in constant touch so I knew exactly what to expect. I got upgraded shingles and solar powered skylights all within budget. A rep came out on 7/26/21 to evaluate the damage done to our house from a storm. He knew the insurance claim amount and shared enthusiasm for doing the work to repair the house for the insured amount. Despite several calls and emails since the rep first came over, the rep and the supervisor have not returned a single message a month later. I left a 1-star review here on Yelp and then they re-engaged contact and apologized. I took the review down and they communicated well for a week or so but since then have not returned any messages from me or my wife. So, after 2 separate 4+ week ghosting episodes, I'm writing this review now and it's going to stay here on Yelp. We gave them a second chance and they still failed. Awful. read more

I've been begging for Kearns Brothers to come out to our Condo to make a very simple repair since August 10th.....5 weeks!!! They have been stringing me along the whole time; they simply don't want to me bothered with a minor repair. After waiting all this time, the day of the repair was finally here. I was home all day yesterday and was told they decided to cancel without ever reaching out to me due to foul weather. We had no rain and no storm advisory....they just didn't want to do the work. Perhaps they will be responsive to you for a new roof, but if you have any problems with your roof and you are getting water into your home, don't hold your breath waiting for Kearns Brothers. Dan had come over to access my roof, stated that I did have damage to my roof due to the storm last year, and set up a date and time to take pictures to send to my insurance company. He has has cancelled more than four times in the past four weeks, and did not show up or text today. I am really disappointed, because I reopened a claim and wasted a month waiting for him to show up. If he did not want to take this job, or if I did not have a rood that was damaged enough to claim, I wish he would have just told me. read more

After multiple calls and emails for a start date, Gary Kearns finally emailed and said February 2022 is the soonest they can get here. BUT THEY HAVE NO SIDING CREWS. Everyone that we worked with at Kearns Bros was extremely professional, knowledgeable and responsive, from the salesman to the hard-working men and women that did the repairs. We had wind damage that blew our aluminum awning right off of our house and damaged the soffit, fascia, gutters and roof. Kearns did a beautiful job rebuilding the soffit & fascia, replaced the gutters and our roof as well. I'm so pleased with the outcome that I wish we had it done years ago. Anytime I had a question or wanted to discuss the work, they were very responsive and made sure I was satisfied before moving on. The owner even came to our house on the day of our roof install to introduce himself. The work took more time than I expected to complete, but with the shortages these days, compared to other companies' time estimates they were by far the best. About 8 years ago Kearns brothers did a repair for me and they did a great job. They didn't try to sell me something I didn't need either. So recently I reached out to them due to some storm damage to my roof. They promptly scheduled the appointment. I called to confirm it the same day, but they never showed up. So the next day I called and had to leave a message. They called back and said the worker himself would call to reschedule the appointment. That was a couple of weeks ago. Terrible service. Their roofing estimator is either an idiot who has no idea what he is doing or only wants to sell you a total roof replacement when it is clearly not necessary. He did not even look at the part of the roof that was leaking or address repairing the part of the roof that was leaking (an old aluminum cricket). Untrustworthy, crooked, rip-off artists, that clearly try to take advantage of people who they think don't know any better. Luckily, I know a thing or two about roofing. Steer clear of this shady outfit. Had another guy come out and fix the problem correctly for about $500. No leaking since, and it has been over 6 month now. read more

One of our recent storms damaged my roof, causing one of my bedroom ceilings to collapse. I immediately called an adjustor, who determined I needed a new roof. A friend had used Kearns Brothers, so I called them. They sent one of their guys out to examine my roof; he confirmed that I needed a new roofs for both the house and the garage and would have to sign a contract. I agreed to sign and asked if, in the meantime, they could patch the problem area because more rain was expected. I was told I had to sign the paperwork first. The paperwork didn't arrive but more rain did. The ceiling had gotten worse and I frantically called both the office AND the rep but didn't hear back. I ended up finding another roofer who came out immediately, patched the affected area on the spot for $250, said that it wasn't necessary to replace (or even repair) the garage roof, and came out in a few days to replace the roof on the house. The price was reasonable (my insurance agent was shocked), the work was top-notch and looks beautiful, and it was completed in a day-and-change (very large house, steep roof). Wanting to dot the i's and cross the t's, I sent a much-more-polite-than-was-warranted e-mail to the guy I'd worked with at Kearns Brothers, telling him that I'd had to engage someone else and thanking him for his efforts. These guys are crooks. The guy measured my roof by some Bs technology and stated that my roof was 3490 square feet, when actually it's about 2399 square feet. Then he gave me this outrageous estimate on my roof. More than double of the other roofers. These guys are croooks! Do not go there! read more

Update: We eventually had to have another company come out and fix their work!! Kearns put gutters on rotten wood, causing more damage then before! Water entered the house, dripping from the inside of the window casings onto the sill , damaging two of the three of our windows!!! Ate our losses and digested a valuable lesson! Moving on! We contracted with Kearns on June 19, 2021 to replace out gutters. Thank God, we did not put a large $$ deposit down. We have been calling since July about a start date. Today, the lady that we spoke to told us that she's going to ask someone to call us back---the same message she gave last month and the month before that. Our calls were never returned. Do they even have a crew???? Hey, just be honest and tell your clients that you can't do the work. Don't keep them waiting! Kurns and Brothers used to be reputable company. Don't use these guys.  They will try to sell you a new roof even if you don't need one, and unless they can replace at least half your roof, they don't even want to look at the job.  They will try to scare  you into getting a new roof, and then think that you will be so grateful that they saved your house from even more unforeseen damage by their quick action.  Dishonest at worst.  Unknowledgeable at best.  The guy Kearns sent out was clearly on commission and not interested in doing a small repair.  Without even looking at the problem area, he started talking about how they would have to tear of the roof from hip to hip on the back of the house to stop the leak.  I tried telling him that it is leaking from an aluminum trough next to the chimney.  He looked at the wrong side of the chimney.  I kept telling him it was on the other side.  He did not even bother to look.  He started talking about how my roof was SO OLD, I might want to replace the whole thing.  The roof is only 16 years old, and the shingles and roof deck under the shingles are in good condition (no soft spots, no curling, no cracking, no discoloration, no loss of surface granulation, no nail pops, no loose or missing shingles) and it was a very expensive, high quality shingle.  I spoke to "Mike Kearns" who refused to recognize the problem.  Clearly, this company does not want to repair your roof. They just want to sell you a new one.  Small jobs are not cost effective for them.  I get that.  Show me some respect and tell me that, don't try to rip me off by selling me something I do not need. Update: I ended up doing the repair myself. It has been six months. About $100 in materials from Home Depot. It took me an entire day because I did not know how to do roof repairs, and had to keep looking stuff up on the internet, but I figured it out. A very nice roofing professional at ABC Supply Company told me the aluminum trough was called a "scupper". It probably should have been replaced when my roof was redone 16 years ago, but he seemed to say that roofers consider the "scuppers" as a gutter and want you to call a gutter guy and don't always do this work themselves. No excuse for Kearns Brother's since they advertise that they do gutters and aluminum siding as well. Anyway, 6 months later no leaking. I keep checking the attic and monitoring the ceiling with my moisture meter and everything is dry, dry, dry. read more

Kearns Brothers did (2) jobs for us: a roof repair and a rebuilt front porch. I spoke with Chuck regarding our outstanding issue(s) and we scheduled the roof repair within a week of his consultation with us. The flashing was replaced around the chimney--the guys that did the job were quick and courteous. So far so good: no leaks! We later had our front porch rebuilt and it looks fabulous! It took a little extra time to get that job done--mostly due to city permit--but it was totally worth the wait. Once again, we had an excellent crew do the job. Have used Kearns Brothers for our roof in 2007 and a deck rehab this year (2017). They are super to work with. They show up as promised, do quality work, and follow up to make sure we are satisfied. There have been no call backs, because they do it right the first time. All workers are professional and clean up everything perfectly! I would not hesitate to recommend this company. Save yourself the frustration and don't bother with this company. I got a quote to repair gutter and aluminum trim and was given an estimate of when the work would start . The estimate start date changed (of course) and I could not get the salesman to call me back for a new start date. I even spoke to the executive general manager and even he was unresponsive. After wasting almost 2 months and only after I cancelled the job did the salesman send me an email. I had to hire another company to do the work which was completed in 2 weeks time. I just found out that a raccoon had torn a hole in my roof and realized that it was going rain tonight. I must have called a dozen places to find someone who could cover the hole before it started raining but Mark from Kearns Brothers really came through. Even though he's a regional VP, he took my call, did his best to find someone to come out, and when he couldn't and was worried about the inch of rain forecasted for tonight, he personally came out and took care of it, in the dark and rain. Now that the holidays had come and gone and the dent to my pocketbook had been repaired, I figured it was time to revisit my home improvements checklist to see what I NEEDED done, rather than just WANTED (being an adult, pfft no fun). Anyhow, the remodels had to be put on the back burner. I needed a roof in a bad way. A neighbor of mine came by over the holidays (bearing sweet treats :) ) going on and on about her new roof. She said Kearns Brothers had been out to her home just before Christmas to do the job, and that a friend of hers who had siding done had given her their number. My thought process - make the neighbor with fresh baked goods happy. They were a few referrals in, reason enough to give them a shot at an estimate. I called to set a date for them to come out and they had someone out the next day (after sending an appointment confirmation via email, touché). Paul walked me through step by step. He actually got on my roof himself to look at everything and determine what I would need done, since I told him I was concerned with a few particular spots. He had a few samples on hand for me to look at shingle colors and I requested one more. I also inquired about a gutter quote for future budgeting purposes, not needing them done ASAP. He gave me addresses of places near me that Kearns had done the roof in the color shingle I'd chosen so I could see an entire roof in person. Awesome! He promptly emailed my roofing estimate to me, and I promptly canceled my estimate appointment with the other company I had coming that afternoon. I'd already had two come out and either the salesman just rubbed me the wrong way, or I felt uneasy with the lack of information they were willing to help me with. But lets get down to the work: 1) The roofing crew arrived when they said they would. 2) The office kept in contact with me from the time of the appointment, to calling to make sure I was completely satisfied with the work. I felt valued as a customer. 3) They were a little pricey, however you get what you pay for. I need this roof to last me a while. 4)The crew even moved my patio furniture out of the way :) (Probably something I should have done myself for the winter months, oops...) 5) They arrived at 8am and were finished by 5pm 6) It looked like they had never even been there, spotless when they left. 7) Paul did forget about the gutter quote, and I did have to call in and remind him. However he did get one to me within the next few days. 8) The roof itself- They sent me pictures as the work progressed, way to add to the awe factor...and it looks absolutely fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised with this company, and Paul. Oh, and my neighbor got $100 bucks for referring me, maybe she will bring over some more of those treats now... read more

GREAT COMPANY. I used them in 1994 for my Chimney, and in 2009 for a new Roof. Very professional and courteous. They didn't hound me for the money after the work was done, they told me to take my time. Also they followed up 2 yrs later for a loose gutter and didn't give me a hard time about it at all. I see two negative reviews below. One of them is SECOND HAND which I find to be a hilarious concept. ("my parent said...") The other one, well, I wasn't there but it conflicts with my own experience. I really recommend this company. One thing though, they are not the cheapest. read more

Kearns put on a new roof for us 11 months ago and we were very pleased with the entire process. They were responsive and communicated well during the sales process and prior to our start date. They set expectations of the 4-5 week lead time from signing the contract to start of install. Of course we knew we would have to wait as they had a backlog of installs at the start of spring! Due to weather, they delayed our start one day, but we were aware this would be a possibility. They showed up first thing in the morning and completed the job by the end of the day. They cleaned up very well, and protected our plants and shrubs so they were not damaged. We found very little nails or debris after they left which was amazing. I felt we paid a fair price, got a good product and good warranty, and I would definitely recommend Kearns to my family or friends. read more

I scheduled an appointment for an estimate for our roof. Nobody showed up and when I called to ask when they were coming and how long it would take, the person I spoke to was quite rude and perfunctory. Even though we were home the entire time they were supposed to be here, nobody showed up. Then later we saw a note on the front door. They didn't knock on the door or ring the doorbell! They didn't even try to call. They just left a note saying they tried to come by and to call to reschedule. Unprofessional and poor customer service. Much better treatment by other companies who have higher ratings on yelp. read more

I had an estimate done for my driveway in February 2016. I decided to move forward with the job, so I called to make an appointment. They sent out Paul Wilson to check out my driveway again since it had been awhile, I guess. This was on 9/9/16. I signed an agreement to move forward with the job and was told the office would contact me the following week to set up an appointment. Two weeks went by with no contact from Paul Wilson or the office. I called two times and both times was told I needed to speak to Paul Wilson and that he would call me back. It's now 10/10/16 and still, no return contact from ANYONE from Kearns Brothers. If they didn't want to do the job they could have said that back in February 2016!! Beware! All pitch, no delivery!!! We had Kearns out twice before signing a contract for new gutters and new insulation. The sales team member was prompt for the appt and knowledgeable about the products. We were charmed. Fast forward 6 months and the work was NOT completed, gutters only. Unanswered phone calls, emails filled with excuses (i.e. Too cold, crew not available, not scheduled appropriately, etc). Without notice 6.5 months later a 3rd party crew shows up at our door. We sent them away since we were fed up with Kearns lack of communication. The 3rd party vendor said to deal with them directly, cheaper and provided service directly. Kearns never mentioned they hire out their jobs, we were under the impression they did the work. A month later I received a bill for the gutter work, paid promptly, happy to be done with this company. Another month goes by and Michael Baker, our sales representative, sends me a threatening and insulting email about my overdue bill and implies I'm being reported to collections. Not only had I paid and the company cashed the check, he couldn't even bother communicating over the phone to find out he made a huge error. Disgusted I replied. A week later Gary Kearns calls to 'touch base'. He didn't even issue an apology just wanted to let me know he was 'embarrassed' of his employee and his company's performance. Didn't sound like a very engaged owner or customer service provider. Stay away, poorly managed company without regard for their customers. Can't even manage accounts payables!!! read more

Kearns Brothers worked hard, were concerned for our safety, and did a decent job. However, after they gave us the quote and we accepted it, we had to pursue them for an appointment. We also had to pursue them for inspection and a bill. However, my major issue is that their price came in almost $4000 above their estimate, most of which was for extra wood and the labor associated with it. They claim this is because they had to replace a number of beams because ours were too far apart. They knew or should have known how old the house was, and we told them how old the roof was, so I'm not sure why the beam issue was a "surprise." In any event, I think they owed us at least a phone call about the increase when they discovered the issue, so that we could plan for the additional cost and understand it before it was done. read more

I have a large, very steep roof, with both conventional asphalt shingles, and flat roof portions. The house was built in 1936, and it's a 3 story house. So it's a challenging roof job. The roof looked good when I bought the house, but I've had 3 - 4 leaks and I was tired of repairing it. Learn from me - fix your roof when the first leak happens! I had two reputable companies quote the job, found them both from reading reviews off the websites and from neighborhood recommendations. I am glad I went with Kearns Brothers. Kearns had a 10% sale and a better warranty (50 years!) My sales rep, Chuck Saltmarche was my partner though every step of the process. He was timely, interested, engaged, but NOT high pressure. The home office was really supportive in providing me houses to look at so I could pick the shingle color. It's a big decision! I can't say enough good things about the roofing crew. They were at my home for two days. Every person was knowledgeable, hardworking and really cared about my home and roof. They built a saddle at my chimney and valley so snow wouldn't dam up there. They cleaned my yard continually as they worked. These gentlemen work hard. And they were a true team with lots of camaraderie. They answered all my questions during the process. My roof was not inexpensive, but it protects my entire home. I am writing this on the first rainy day after getting my new roof. What a nice feeling to enjoy rainy days again. read more
