I ordered the lamb and beef kofta (#7B on the menu). They were cooked fresh, so it took my order 15 minutes to come out. The beef was good, especially when dipped in the BBQ sauce. However, I did not like the lamb. It tasted like hamburger meat, and it was tough. Tahir, one of the cooks, noticed that I hardly touched the lamb kofta, so he asked me what was wrong, and when I told him, he offered me that another skewer of beef kofta. Now that's good customer service. The basmati rice was delicious. I could not stop eating it. Tahir said that it is brown because he puts gravy and different spices in it. The salad was okay. The restaurant was relatively clean despite the huge traffic. I will return here, just to order the beef kofta with basmati rice (no salad, please). read more

Came here about 4:00 p.m. never ate here but I seen some nice reviews. I spoke with Jamie he greeted me and he told me what liked was the chicken kebab.p I opted for the chicken and lamb kebab. I waited over 10 minutes came with rice salad it was nice it was awesome it was fresh. I spoke with T the owner I let him try one of my jalapenos that I sell. He decided to eat one of the Wiri Wiri peppers that I had in the bag. By the time I said no don't he was asking for water. I have killer jalapenos. Mixed with vinegar or lime juice Well my food finally came he was absolutely one of the best fresh chicken and lamb I've had in a long time the right was cooked to perfection. Your food use to be really good. I guess your popularity made you reduce the effort just like all restaurants. Your chicken Kofta kebab use to have flavor, spice and cooked well. Now it's bland and flavorless and tastes uncooked. Please go back to previous chef if that is what changed. This is my go-to spot for my break-time at work for a reason! At under $10 you can get a behemoth of a platter that will most likely last you two meals and they do NOT skimp on quality here. Every time I come here the lamb is flavorful and crisp especially when asked well done, the chicken is never dry, the rice is aromatic and tasty, and even the salad is seasoned! Their white sauce is your typical white sauce, their hot sauce is not to be trifled with, and the barbecue adds such a nice sweetness to contrast the other flavors here. Lamb was pretty standard and good quality. I usually do my hot sauce and white sauce on the side as sometimes I want a little more or a little less (sometimes ya feel like a nut....sometimes ya don't!). We never get halal type food outside of NYC and we never have ordered this type of food outside of a cart, but Kebab Express changed our views on where to get good chicken/lamb over rice. My wife and I came by on a random Saturday afternoon since we were in the area. We saw the positive Yelp reviews, but still had our doubts. The restaurant was a decent size and had a good amount of 4 person tables, but it seemed that most customers were only here for takeout. The menu was very simple with chicken/lamb kebab and chicken/lamb over rice dishes on the left and fast food type dishes (ex: burger, sandwiches with fries) on the right. There wasn't much to choose from, so making a choice isn't going to be rocket science. I decided on a chicken and lamb/mix over rice and my wife ordered the chicken breast and kofka kebab over rice. First off, we LOVED that all of their sauces were available for everyone to use at the counter, so customers can squeeze as much white, hot, green or barbecue sauce onto their plates. The cashier pointed them all out to us as well, which was helpful. Second, the food was very tasty. For my mix over rice, the rice was very flavorful and the meats were juicy and delicious. The meats were all chopped up and there was plenty of it, with very little lettuce off to the side, which is my preference. For the chicken breast and kofka kebab, the meats were also good. Surprisingly, the chicken breast was juicy, somehow. The kokfa was soft, juicy and cooked just right. Overall, we loved it here. This is such a cool and underrated place. I visited this with my wife while we were in Huntington for the Vanderbilt museum tour and didn't expect much of this. Shame on us for expecting this to be a dive. This is nice cool little very clean and well kept place. My friend Bob from Kentucky is a really fast driver. He runs his own taxi service called the KY-Bob Express. This is not that. So I don't think this is being judged by New York standards so either the Long Island people are just so happy to have a decent Halal place without having to go into the city, or it's fake. And I would lean towards it being fake. They were not the friendliest in the world and it tasted pretty good but it wasn't anywhere near amazing and some of the ones in the city are nothing short of amazing so I have to judge it accordingly. However, I decided to give it another try tonight and I'm glad I did! it was delicious! I love how they use shredded lettuce for the salad instead of the big lettuce pieces they once used.
