This place went down so much ‍ I used to come here everyday after school when it first opened up the food used to be so good but then they switched owners and messed everything up. MORE TACOS!!! should be the 2022 mantra for NY. The halal taco game is on the come up (i'm pretty sure the OG taco game is already on point ) and with another spot like Jalapeño shack, there's promise for the future of halal tacos on the east coast ( oh how I miss the West Coast! ) But be it in the city or out in the "Island" , it comes down to the heat and melding of flavors to give you that perfect bite. Fortunately, I had the opportunity of speaking to the chef and being that they just opened 3 months ago, their meat game looked pretty promising. And what a better way to try the meats than to order 1 of each; "Chicken, steak and ground beef por favor !" Presentation looked great but we hit an initial snag...the floor of the first taco broke through and I thought to myself "this is not lookin good"...thanks to the chef, he must have known the slight glitch in the simulation and brought me grilled tortillas (with grill marks, duh). Crisis averted. "That's how we eat tacos back home" was all I wanted to hear. Although there was a slight inconvenience of reloading each taco on the new tortilla , it was a win! Now I can't speak for the next patrons who, if they order the 3 tacos, will get the same rescue, but the staff are well aware of the hiccup in the matrix as mentioned to me by staff. Over all the experience was great...I wanted some meaty tacos with a spicy kick and their home made habanero sauce did the job! Their green sauce and creamy garlic cilantro sauce proved to be up there with the Valentina hot sauce on the table. For a flavor spice bomb, put those 3 sauces with the red bottle sauce together on your tacos (tread carefully people o_O) and behold the fiesta en tu boca! I'd definitely come back to try their burrito and tacos (again) to see the improvements. I gave this place another shot thinking they may have improved but ended up wasting more money and almost throwing up. I was in a rush and was starving when I got there, I originally wanted to go to CAVA but it closed early today. Anyways, I got a bowl and chose brown rice, there wasn't much left in the metal container so he put what was left in my bowl and then proceeded to take the metal container out and put it to the side. while doing this, the metal container passed OVER MY BOWL with the WATER DRIPPING INTO MY FOOD. Absolutely unhygienic, I'm getting nauseous thinking about how gross that is. I should've spoken up then, but I'm the type of person who pretends to like a bad haircut just to be nice in the moment, and was really hungry at this point and didn't think they had any rice left anyways. I get home and my first bite is of pure chewy beef fat. the steak was bland cold chewy and tasted like it was starting to go bad. the guac tasted store-bought, it didn't even look fresh in the store, I actually had to ask if it was guac or not lol. their queso is still crappy, it was grainy and almost separated like it was curdled, tasted bland too. and guess what, my total for a bowl ended up being around 20 dollars. They charge u a credit card fee, and some other fees too. this was my last time trying this place. guac time, hot peppers and limone are 100x better and more hygienic. hell, even chipotle is better. read more

Food was really good and the fact that it's halal is even better! Only complaint was that the steak tasted a little dry and portions are smaller than your typical burrito bowl from chained restaurants. Over all would definitely go back again for the halal version of Chipotle/ moes/qdoba! read more

Very disappointing food and service! Most of the staff are teenagers who seemed like they didn't have enough experience to serve a customer. They were struggling to understand my order. Now to the food. I ordered Beef tacos (2/5) Quesadilla (3/5) Burrito bowl (2/5) - it had a somewhat stale flavor especially the chicken and corns Shack fries (3/5) - The fries need improvement. Sauces didn't not have a kick to them the way Mexican sauces usually do. Queso needs improvement it tasted very bland. Onions and peppers were extremely over cooked (almost caramelized) Sorry, but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Especially, if you live in Queens please do not bother driving all the way out to LI for this halal Mexican spot. Stick to the options there! read more

I'm so happy this place opened. Usually I get the steak because halal steak is so hard to find. Today instead I went with chicken and surprisingly was better than the steak in my opinion. Not saying it's the best thing I ever had but it's super close to a haha chipotle. Right now buy one get one free on Uber eats too! Gotta support local halal business always ! read more

This place is a hidden gem in the sense that I don't think it's wildly known in the area. I think the bad reviews (specifically the 1 star) is a bit harsh. I can't speak for the experience of ordering in person, but I've ordered delivery at least 10 times now and the quality has never fallen below 5 stars. Everything is always delicious and consistently delicious (I'm a big chipotle fan; but I hate that the same bowl tastes different every time you go). The food is unbelieveably fresh.. every time. Just ordered Jalapeño Shack for the 1st time and we were not disappointed! Place is nice small clean storefront. Service was good and welcoming. We got chicken quesadilla, two bowls (one chicken, one steak) and a chicken burrito- you order and choose all the ingredients (think chipotle) and everything was fresh! This place definitely didn't look like much passing by but the inside is really well kept and the food is pretty good. It reminds me a lot of chipotle but with a better variety of sauces and Pico de gallo. A halal version of Chipotle! I ordered the steak bowl with guacamole. The steak was juicy and seasoned well. The owner is friendly and welcoming. The sauces, although not identical to chipotle, had it's own flavor and kick to it. Although it's a little far from where I live, I will be returning to try the rest of the menu. The wait time wasn't bad at all and the prices are very reasonable. You end up getting your bang for your buck. I know for a fact I'd be spending way more money at chipotle for what I ordered and the meat wouldn't be halal. read more
