I hired this wanna be painter after a recommendation from a neighbor,..big mistake! I first met with Jim to discuss the work to be done in our house and to receive an estimate for the work to be preformed...Jim seem like a nice guy, talked alittle fast, but all and all, i liked him..so i hired him. We agreed on a price for the work to be done via a text estimate, .really? So i never did receive a written estimate even after weeks of them being in my house making a complete mess.. And i ask several times if i could get it so we can Both know exactly what i was receiving for the amount we discussed, but no, never got one. So, i let these guys in my house "alone" to paint. Not sure exactly why i trusted this fugazi.. But i did. So first let me say, we verbally discussed that he would fix all the holes and deflections on the walls before painting..plus, he was painting my trim again white and he would refill nail holes, fix caulk and fix up any dings or dented up corners from were and tear.. The very first day i come home and i should of fired them then. They had family room close to complete. Walls painted, trim painted and ceiling begun. At first i was surprised how much they completed.. Buy after closer inspection, they made no real attempt to fix anything. A light spakle job over holes, not sanded, then painted right over.. Looked like a 4 year old did it! So i call him with no response. So i figured I'd let them continue, maybe the next day there would be an improvement.. Um nope..more work done, same shit quality.. So i get ahold of jim and say we need to meet. The next day Jim meets with me and we have a long discussion about what i expect quality wise. I explained its been a long time coming and i want my job as close to perfect as possible. He assured me it would be the best job ever, so i let them continue...i did tell him though, that our furniture in the living and dining room was quite expensive, including drapes, and to please be very careful with this stuff. The next day i come home to all of our stuff that we had out of the way in a corner of the dinning room, all over the dining room table and nothing covered. These guys literally just tossed this stuff onto the table, with complete disregard. We've been pampering this table for 10 years, it cost $8,000! These fucks are gonna come in and with one sweep ruin the fucking thing,..really? So despite this, i let them continue.. Everyday i would come home to more disappointment..bad patch jobs, crooked lines at he ceilings, bad cut ins, one coat paint you can see the other color underneath.. So again i meet with jim.. He rest assures me i will be 100% hsppy when hes done..i point out a whole bunch of stuff to fix that he says wil be perfect..the next day, i come home, what do i see, half ass fix jobs on almost everything, some stuff he didnt do at all.. I call him up and we talk...Again! So he tells me.." when we are all done, you go thru and mark everything and i'll fix it".. I was like " but every cut on every ceiling and next to all the casings and along all the chairrail is crooked,..you are gonna come back and fix it all?" And his reply was "yes, we will cut it in straight, if you mark it".. Really guy? Why the fuck didnt you just cut it in strsight the first time? You plan on coming back and recutting everthing in straight later, come on? Plus they got paint all over my appliances and hardwood floor..who does this? Maybe we will find out you cant cut in straight at all. So i finally ended up firing him. I ended up paying him infull for a complete fucki g mess of an unfinished job.. At the end i remember him telling me when we first met,.."i was a carpenter for many years before painting"... Well, lesson learned, dont hire a carpenter to do your painting.. Hire a painter... NOT THIS JAMOKE! NO STARS!

I received a competitive quote from Davison Painting in Joliet and selected them from two other contractors. They first power washed and removed about 70% of the old paint. They also replaced 12 of the cedar boards that were cracked. Small cracks were caulked as well as all the knot holes. Preparation time exceeded the actual painting time. No shortcuts were taken. Every step was done exactly as it should be. The result was outstanding. Our 30 year old house has never looked better. I highly recommend Davison Painting.

Red Flags: Nick Biango seems to be "very hyper," as if he's consumed 50 shots of espresso. Make of that what you will. Nick Biango WILL, most likely, ask you to pay by check, but then put the goods he's buying on his personal credit card, making it IMPOSSIBLE for you to make a claim that he purchased goods at Home Depot, or what-have-you. In my case, I wrote Nick Biango a check, and he purchased very expensive custom made doors for my residence, but when fired, the first thing he said was, "You're never going to get your doors. I paid for them with my credit card." He also "bragged" about abusing animals. Dogs, specifically. I had to have police backup when I told him he was being fired, out of fear for my life. Attached is a letter my lawyer sent Nick Biango. DON'T DO IT. He will low-ball you and then say there are "unforeseen circumstances" that will drive the prices higher. ---- This firm has been retained by Michael R. regarding the construction renovation project at the R. residence at XXXX Western Avenue, Park Ridge, Illinois (the "Project"). On or about December 1, 2007, you and Mr. R. executed a contract pursuant to which you were to perform certain renovations. While the initial contract price was $16,900.00, Mr. Roman paid you a total amount of $36,769.00 for work performed. Following your termination from the "Project" and Mr. R's subsequent hiring of a new contractor, it was determined that much of the work performed by you was done in an unacceptable manner. Your defective work included, but is not limited to: improper installation of plumbing, floors, and other appliances; the use of cheap and sub-standard materials; failure to complete the work in a timely fashion as specified by the contract; and failure to obtain the proper building permits required by law. In fact, following your termination, the work performed by you failed a building inspection. Due to the egregious nature of your defective work, Mr. R was forced to spend an additional $28,888.00 to remedy the numerous errors made by you on the "Project." In addition, Mr. R paid you $9,385.00 for the purchase and installation of eleven (11) doors. To date, Mr. Roman has not received nine (9) of those doors, and upon information and belief, they remain in your possession. While Mr. Roman has received two (2) doors from Home Depot, they have not been installed as agreed to as part of the $9,385.00 payment. Finally, due to your extended delay in completing the "Project," contrary to the terms of the contract, Mr. R's mother was forced to stay in a rehabilitation facility for an additional two weeks. As I'm sure you're aware, at the time Mr. R's mother was ready to return home, there were no stairs installed in the residence. The additional two week stay resulting from your failure to timely complete the work caused Mr. R to incur $7,500.00 in unnecessary costs. As a result of the above-listed unlawful actions, Mr. R. hereby demands that your company pay him the total amount of $45,773.00. That total reflects the amount required to correct your defective work, the amount paid for the doors that were never received or installed, and the amount incurred as a result of your delay. ---- Nick Biango never paid out for his faulty "work" which was deemed a failure from our local building inspection department. Our family ended up eating the cost, due to the exorbitant legal fees it would take to bring our case to trial. When I pointed this out to Nick Biango, he just laughed and said, "The homeowner never wins."

My floor chipped the night the installation was finished and the floor board was supposed to be replaced. The molding was not secured adequately so it is hanging off my wall. The door stop was never put back on resulting in a hole that keeps getting bigger, and since the drywall had to be patched in multiple places during the installation, my newly painted walls needed to be repainted. All of these were easy fixes, but I guess since we made the mistake of already paying them, it wasn't worth their time. I am extremely disappointed in a company I thought had integrity.

The GHI cabinets were certainly a struggle to install due to no fault of your company. With every remodel, there are always issues that come up that were not planned. Issues we felt there would never be a solution and we got worried. We understand the work hours are not 8-5 pm and that some days you can only spend a few hours a day to work. Some days we were upset with the progress, but we totally understand you put family first. We would do the same thing. Our kids were young once and you just have to stay home with them to help get over the issue. Being a parent is a wonderful gift of God and it comes with challenges. You are an excellent parent and father, and family man. You certainly had your own family issues during that remodel that was not planned. Your truck broke down two times and had to solve all those issues as well. What amazed us the most was, you always kept a good positive friendly attitude and solved it all. After we finalized the last payment to finish the job, we contacted GHI Cabinets to obtain the hinges and found them very easy to work with. Your ingenuity solved the issue of the trim boards around a door and plane the trim boards to ensure the correct thickness worked great. It was dangerous work, but you did it safely, and it looks great. The original estimate to repair our garage, install two new windows and remove the old one, repair a gutter, remodel a kitchen all came in within budget. Allowing me to help, plaster, paint, and do 15% of the work also helped to stay on budget. I could have used your strength to help remove the Florescent Light though, that was much heavier than expected. It made me realize how hard it really is.
