However, Jay's is a thief of an establishment as I ordered a pound of pulled pork and when I got home it weighed 10 ounces (INCLUDING THE CONTAINER). I called to complain but got a voicemail. No, but it did tear off clean when you bit into them. Just right. Nicely seasoned. Glazed while on the fire. Sauces can be added if you want. Brisket. Again well cooked, maybe on the edge of over (shedded a little as you ate it). My serving was from the flat up toward the point, with a good 1/4 of fat remaining. I trim the fat more, but it had been rendered nicely so it ate well. Yes, you eat the fat with the meat. People who trim it are wrong. Just wrong. The prices are reasonable, and the protein menu offers a great selection of six sandwiches with or without slaw. I ordered "The Hog," which is smoked pork and opted for the slaw and potato salad. The pork was tender and perfectly smoky, and the slaw provided a pleasant crunch that beautifully complemented the sandwich. My only minor complaint is the potato salad, which tasted very eggy. I prefer potato salad to have a more dominant potato texture and flavor. Still, this is a personal preference and doesn't detract from the overall experience of enjoying such well-crafted food. Imagine my surprise, then, when I was treated to the delectable work of just such persons described by such a word, if in fact you can accept it as one. What I'm saying here is: the barbecue is good. So good is this barbecue that I wrangled a long-lost Yelp password back from heedlessness just to log back on and review it. Imagine, if you can, a meal in which every single component's description begins with "smoked." Now imagine that you have never learned to associate 'smoked' with 'dry' because you will unlearn this association within moments of tasting their pork, chicken, or -- if you are particularly lucky -- their brisket. A plate of this and some sides (some of which are still also smoked!) may be enough food to get you through your entire day, thus making the drive effectively as much as 3x more worthwhile than it would be in case you do not think barbecue is worth driving out here for. You will want to drive back and drive some home, maybe regularly. You can hope to be so lucky.

I had the Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf special and my friend had the Ribs and Chicken special. The meatloaf was heavy and SO dry. The bacon wrapping consisted of one piece of bacon which was so flabby it was inedible. The smoked green beans were from a can and had some flabby bacon added. The mac and cheese was dry and had almost no cheese and too much black pepper. My friend says the ribs were good (not excellent) and the chicken was dry and just ok in flavor. He also had the green beans and the corn, which the menu says was "off the cob" but was obviously from a can. I do hope this local business does well and it looks like they have lots of fans. But we are not among them and won't visit here again.
