I had a major geyser spewing from a broke sprinkler line which got me to finally get someone out to sort out my 20 year old irrigation. I asked him to also look at the rest of my sprinklers to make sure they were doing what they should. He was able to fix the geyser and address the sprinklers with more water efficient heads and cap a couple that were superfluous. Mine was able to come over quite quickly both times I needed him and is very reasonable in his pricing. I'm so glad to have him on my roster for when things go wrong. Found Keeping It Green on Yelp & went with them because of the high ratings. I was not disappointed. I needed a leaking sprinkler valve fixed. Not a big job, but in the process of doing the work, Mike saw that our sprinkler system was semi-old & gave me info on a rebate program through SoCal Water Smart for upgrading to $-saving nozzles on the sprinklers. No pressure from him, just told me how to look the rebate up online, gave me a quick run-down on how many nozzles he'd propose to switch out & cost per nozzle & labor. He simply told me to contact him if I wanted to do the upgrade. Once approved for the rebate, I had 2 weeks to get the work done. He called me back within a day & we planned the work within the week (my schedule actually prevented it from being done sooner). He was running behind schedule that day, but even when I offered to reschedule so he could go home at a reasonable hour, he wanted to stay & finish. He gave me a tour of the new sprinklers, explained how it works & re-programmed my timers to fit the new water flow. He emailed me the receipt necessary for the rebate that evening. The sprinkler system that I have was put in back in 2009 so I've had a few minor technical difficulties with the Program Timer. It's one of the major brands but it's been discontinued at Home Depot so I bought this one online as it's pretty easy to program and it's reasonably priced. This is the 3rd one as the previous two had issues but this one didn't work for some reason. After replacing the Solenoids on the Sprinkler Pumps it still wouldn't come on when it was programed to start. So left a voice-mail for Mike to call me back. He called the next day and set a time. Unfortunately he got hung up in traffic but called to let me know he was running behind. We scheduled for the following Monday and Mike arrived on time. He assessed the situation and determined that it was a miss wiring on my part so I felt pretty dumb that I had put the wire in the wrong socket. But Mike didn't make me feel that way so it's all good. I paid him and said our goodbyes. Overall, I'd recommend Keeping it Green Landscape to others. I was lucky enough to be referred to Mike through a friend. Our water bill was nearly $1,000 a month on our 2 acre property in Rancho Santa Fe and in spite of that, our lawn was brown and mostly dead. Mike came in and very quickly diagnosed the problem: low efficiency spray heads, broken lines and a poorly optimized watering schedule. Along with his crew he was able to change most of the heads to high efficiency rotating heads and set a proper watering schedule. I assure you this was no small task on our large property, but Mike did the job quickly and for a very fair price. My house had a sprinkler system that was in desperate need of an overhaul/tune-up. I called the number and left a message on Tuesday around lunchtime. Within an hour or two, Mike had called back. We set up an appointment for the next day. He arrived promptly, assessed the system, explained what he'd need to do, and quoted me a very reasonable price. We made an appointment for him to come back on Friday, he arrived early with his brother, and had the thing fixed within two hours, all for the exact price he quoted me. My current house is the only place I've ever lived in that has a sprinkler system, so naturally I am not at all familiar with their workings. In other words, somebody could come out here and quote me any price he wanted and tell me that all kinds of things are wrong with the system. But Mike was honest and a square-dealer all the way. He recommended replacing the modular system that controls the sprinklers, but he easily could have taken advantage of me and told me I absolutely needed a new system for another $200. He didn't. I didn't end up buying the new system, but when the old one does break down completely, I'll be calling him back here for sure. I would whole-heartedly recommend Keeping It Green. I called just about everyone listed on yelp and Mike was the only one that called me back promptly (less than a minute)! When I first bought my home I made the mistake of calling Chula Vista lawn who installed the wrong type of system on a slope in my backyard, this was causing a run off of mud. He responded later in the day and told me he would be over in the afternoon. My sprinkler system watering the front yard didn't cover the area well, and I thought I would need to have the system changed to add a couple of sprinkler heads. Mike took a look at the problem, and decided that the problem could be corrected with new sprinkler heads. He had a replacement units with him, and fixed the problem. I get great coverage now. My yard was as hard as a rock, and because of this, my grass way dying in some spots and puddling in other spots. Of all the four quotes I received to help me fix this, Mike's prices were competitive -- not the cheapest, but certainly not the most expensive. What impressed me was that when he came to look at the project, he could immediately spot low spots in my yard that I hadn't noticed, explain to me what he would do, and then emailed me the quote with more detail than any other quote. For example, it said, "sod cut and haul away existing lawn in front and rear of residence. Then add in 1 yard of topsoil, soil amendments and rototill said lawn areas. KIG will install 200 linear ft of headerboard around new lawn areas. KIG will also install 2 yards of rock for front yard shrub area. Then repair any irrigation problems, grade out lawn areas, and then lay 2400 sq ft of Tall Fescue Sod." Mike's work reflected this detail, as he managed his crew, let me know what he was going to do before he did it, and always kept me in the loop. After he was complete, he walked me through the project, explained to me what he did, why he did it, and how to maintain it. Found Keeping It Green on Yelp, called Mike this morning. He responded within the hour and showed up at the promised time this afternoon. My sprinkler system control unit would not shut the sprinklers off and in addition was spraying water from the unit--under pressure-- at several gallons a minute. Had to shut the water to the house off so as not to flood the neighborhood. Mike diagnosed the problem, luckily had a replacement unit with him, fixed the problem,also replaced a sprinkler head and put everything back he way he found it--in half an hour. I'm completely disappointed with keeping it green. We had several contractors come to our house to give us an estimate of what our landscaping project was going to cost. We had a specific time frame to getting it done, no more than two weeks, and our budget for the whole project. After meeting with 8 different people and hearing their proposals, ideas, estimates, not to mention the friendliness and customer service right off the bat, etc. we decided to go with Mike, as we felt it was going to be the best deal for our money. He guaranteed he would be done in 5 days tops, and for much less than we actually had budgeted. Sounded pretty awesome. We called him back within 3 days of his initial consult, left a message, no return messages or phone calls, couple of days later we call again and left another message, sent an email, no return calls or emails, we kept trying to get a hold of him for two weeks!! Then he finally called us back only to say he was waiting for the "go ahead" from us. Are you serious!? We've been trying to give you the "go ahead" for two weeks now! And all this hassle before he even started any work!! So we do a little dance again of trying to call him back and ask when can he start, contracts we need to sign, when do we pay him, etc. This goes on for another week without any returned calls or messages. Honestly, it doesn't take 2 minutes to return a call! If you're busy with another client, that's fine. Call us back and simply say, "Hey I'm finishing up work with another client. I'll get in touch with you in a few days and we can go over all the details." No problem! But he couldn't even do that. Such a waste of time. Very unprofessional. Clearly, Mike was too busy and isn't in need of our business. That's fine. Wish he would have just turned us down from the beginning--it would have saved everyone time and energy. I used them in San Diego. i had a man named Mike do my sprinklers.It cost me a lot of money. I thought he did a good job, but 2 weeks latter I checked the system and and were broken again. I called and he came out again the replaced somethings. The problem was he charged me more money. Then a month later I checked again, more problems. He came out again and charged me more money. It has been 4 times now of him coming over and finding new things that are wrong and charging me more money. I am done. I will find another company. read more

Gotta give it up for my man Mike. We bought a house 6 months ago and inherited a janky sprinkler system with it. A few weeks ago 3 of the heads on the same line stopped working and my lawn turned brown. At this point, I turned to yelp for local sprinkler repairmen. I found Mike and was impressed by all his 5 star reviews. I called on a Sunday and left a message. Even though it was his day "off" I received a phone call about 30 minutes later from Mike himself. He came over a few days later and did a free assessment. I don't know what he did, but he simply touched my system and those three heads started working again. He also fixed all the angles of my existing heads. He popped off one of my nozzles and showed me how they have new rotating nozzles that are more water efficient. He also told me about a Socal water $mart initiative where they pay for $4 of each $7 for each new nozzle. Our water bill has been high and we had a bunch of dry patches in the lawn so I decided to go for the new nozzles. He called me the next day saying he had a cancellation and came over. Within an hour he had replaced all the nozzles in the front and backyard. Not only that, he capped a few sprinkler heads that were unnecessary and altered some that over sprayed. In our backyard he totally redid the previous owner's shoddy pipework. He replaced a busted pipe and a messed up drip line. All in all, he did about 3 hours of work, replaced 20 nozzles with new water efficient ones (which CA will refund more than half), and replaced and fixed the back drip line. Final cost was $350. I would hire Mike again in a heartbeat. He was a cool guy, joked around, offered advice, and responded quickly. If you hire him, you won't regret it. read more

He came out fixed the initial problem, then explained the larger problem (leaking valves and bad solenoids, which I knew already, an old system with inefficient arrangement of heads). We came up with an agreeable plan, which he executed over the next two days, changed to Rainbird heads, and a new manifold with valves and a main. Very nice guy, very honest, gave me a written quote, and came in slightly under it. Also made me aware of rebates through the water district, which saved me $120. read more
