Checked out this local brewery in Bloomington. It has quite a surprising amount of variety on the beer list. Keg Grove is a good place for groups and hanging out. Far away enough from the craziness of the college campus and downtown bars but still not too far away. They have events and food trucks, so there's some good times to be had. A brewery that's located in a shopping plaza with a patio and indoor area. It's bigger than it looks. There's arcade games and even more tables upstairs. For sure anyone can find something fun. It's about $7 a pint. Last time I got the Show Me Your Stem. Good one. This is a pumpkin pie wheat. On the rim is graham crackers. The rest of the beers include IPAs as well as wheat beers in flavors such as blueberry and peach. For sure we could come here again. It's located on Empire Street in a shopping plaza. My husband and I were just in Bloomington/Normal for a conference and decided to hit up the local breweries. We enjoyed all of our stops, but Keg Grove continued getting recommendations from locals. As a result, we had to stop by. And, in the end, Keg Grove WAS our favorite! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a kind warm welcome from the bartender. The space was also welcoming. It was wide open, clean, and spacious. My husband each got our own flights (see pictured). We loved all 8 of the beers that we got, but here were our 4 favorites: 1. #3 Malo Pina Colada Wheat, 2. #1 Holey Jeans Blueberry Wheat with a sugar rimmed glass, 3. #11 Love is Love Orange Guava Passionfruit Hard Seltzer, and 4. #7 Cornfuzed Corn Ale. There was not a bad beer and there were several more we would have loved to try. We ended up getting a 4 pack of the Hokey Jeans because the Malo was sold out. Prices are great, portions are reasonable, and presentation was solid. There was nothing to complain about and much to praise. We will definitely be back at Keg Grove the next time we are in town! The dude abides... Wrapping up a trip to Bloomington with Keg Grove was a great end point to a day trip. A coworker who used to live in Bloomington suggested this place and since they had fruity beer, it took no convincing Emily to swing by there with me. We walked in and it was packed. There was a retirement party going on that kept the single bartender busy with not just them but also slinging drinks behind the bar. We didn't have to wait too long to grab my beer and Emily's flight. We took a seat over by the sweet The Big Lebowski beer tanks. That's right, the beer tanks had Donny, Walter and The Dude from The Big Lebowski on it. I included a photo of the tanks below. I'm not a diehard fan of the movie but I can appreciate this homage for what it is. After being a bit let down at Lil Beaver Brewery, Keg Grove hit it home. The beers we ordered were exactly was we expected them to taste like based on their names. Mine was a Holey Jeans (blueberry wheat) and Emily's flight was Holey Jeans, Cotton Dress Pants (peach wheat), Keg Grove Cream Ale, and Cupcheck (pilsner). Emily and I really liked the Holey Jeans and she especially liked the Cotton Dress. Since I was driving, I stuck to just the one beer but Emily grabbed a coozie, a 16 oz. Cotton Dress, we both grabbed some stickers and a magnet and headed outside. While she was enjoying her last beer before we left, it started pouring down. Everyone booked it inside but we stood under the canopy to avoid the loud crowd inside. My only issue with Keg Grove was the single bartender. Not sure if it was busier than normal but for a Friday and a retirement party booking the upstairs area, I feel like they should've had two working. But I will say that the one working was very peppy and was slinging drinks without seemingly stressing out. Until next time Donny, Walter and The Dude. read more

Finally got here! After an amazing diner at Reality Bites, us two needed an after party. I had tried many of their excellent drafts around the area and took too long to get to the headway, tip top spot! Friendly service, plenty of room, fun outdoor area even though the rain kept us all inside, my buddy and I split a rich coffee stout. Quite harsh and wonderfully all rolled into one dark draft, this is what I love about coffee craft cooked into beer. It's an almost meaty experience. Can't wait to come back again! read more

I am new to the area and this was becoming my favorite brewery after coming numerous times with my dogs. They even had treats for them at the bar and everyone loved them there. Today I ran a mile and a half with my dogs. We go in and my dogs sits quietly next to my stool as they always do. Bartender says no dogs.... I tell him we've been here numerous times and got treats. He says "sorry bro" Pretty sure it's just his rule that day but it sucks to go for a jog like that and not get a beer. There were other people with dogs last time too. If you see this brewery on list of dog friendly places be weary. Don't plan on it. read more

This is one of our personal favorites on the Constitution Trail when we venture out with friends on a nice day for a bike ride. The Holey Jeans Blueberry Wheat is still my #1 go-to favorite. I've been known on rare occasion to try other beer options at Keg Grove and they haven't disappointed either, but there is something about the lemonade rimmed glass of Holey Jeans that is perfect on a warm summer's day. It just hits the spot!! While Keg Grove doesn't have food service, they do offer snacks for sale and have partnered with food trucks and other local restaurants for options. read more

Out with a bunch of friends on a Friday night. Keg Grove really stood tall. All their own beer, great variety and spectacular service. It was a good experience going to the Keg Grove Brewing Company! I never knew that it is in a little tucked in location near Wesleyan, but I like this spot a lot! The owner/senior manager was very friendly. The whole venue is well-lit, modern, and inviting. The draft list is not too long, but it has some local and import choices. The brewery itself doesn't have a kitchen, but the smoking grill truck offers some food. At first I was not thrilled by the limited food choices at the truck, but the staff there was very nice and the food turned out good! Especially the pulled pork wrap, highly recommend! To wrap cole slaw, jalapeño, BBQ pork in one thing tasted so good! Also their chips were great and made in the house. The outside sitting is lovely on a good day. read more

Nice brewery! Great variety of beers. They steer down the middle of the lane with most selections - nothing crazy hoppy or stupid sour ;). Sometimes they may have a food truck come but otherwise no meals here but you can bring in carryout and enjoy a beer. And it gets really loud in there so if you go when they are busy, be aware you may be shouting at your tablemates. Keg sits on Constitution Trail so if you bike, forgot your water bottle at home and work up a thirst... Stop on in! read more

Friends, it's not often I don't finish a beer. When I don't, you know there is a problem. First, the space is clean, modern, and there was no issue with service. For an upstart brewery, their brewhouse (and its capacity) are massive; definitely some money into the brewhouse. I found it odd that there was no brewing going on while we were there (mid-day), and it appeared only two fermentors were in use. Just seemed like a lot of unused capacity. Ordered two beers; one was a corn DIPA and the other was a cream ale. I have no issue with adjuncts in beer if they're done well (I'm looking at you Point Special Lager). These two were just full of off, adjunct flavors...undrinkable. As a last resort, I tried one of their seasonal fruit ales. It was ok. A little low ABV and watery for me. Tasted like fruit extract was used instead of fruit. Hoping to return as they improve their beers. read more

Great brewery! They are so community oriented and are always there to help. Huge emphasis on helping organizations from the area and I can attest to the multiple times they have. They put on events for the community like the Santa they had this year. Talk about a turn out. Was only there for an hour or so and the amount of families that came is astounding. I don't know how anyone could say anything bad about such a loving and caring place. Tjis brew pub had grest fresh craft beer that I tried from this Bloomington Il local brewery were awesome and as a local brewery ghos this place has a typical brew pub look which includes the huge tankers that you can watch them process bear along with an upstairs where the great view. This brew pub is among the best I have seen and was very satisfied with to type of drinks I tried This place is also next to constitution trail which is convenient if you're trying to avoid driving and you can ride a bicycle or walk instead. This is perfect to avoid DUI's and you can drink as much as you can read more

They had ten beers on tap. I tried five of them.They were really good. Their Three Wrongs (Summer Stout) and Divergent Travels (American Strong Ale) were pretty amazing. They will start filling growlers on July 22nd. The staff was knowledgeable and exemplary. The place looks great. I love where they have place their brewing equipment. Checked out Keg Grove for the first time last night--with a group of friends. First thing I noticed is how aesthetically impressive the building is. Nice hang out spot! Second, and more important, the beer is delicious. I tried four types, two IPAs, a brown ale, and a lighter cream ale. Loved all of them but especially #7, a classically bitter IPA with a high alcohol content. I will be returning, often. read more

Very good selection of beers. You cannot go wrong with any of them. The only issue I have is the inconsistent pours by employees. If you go, you will find several beers that you really enjoy. My recommendation is that you avoid the bartender with the short, red beard. He usually wears a hat. He will short pour you every time. It does not matter if it is a pint, tulip, or flight. He never gives complete pours. I saw some of the worst pours by him on pints. He is a nice really nice guy, but when paying $5 or $6 for a drink, you expect more. As someone who lived in FtCo Colorado, New Belgium always had great beer, amazing staff and fun community events. The beer at Keg is really good, love the variety. Odd vibes, weird setup, awkward bar, but GREAT BEERS. One of the best breweries in town and easily better than Destihl.
