This was our first visit to Flingers. We chose it based on the reviews and pictures. We visited on a Tuesday night. No wait time. We decided to sit outside on the patio, because it was a beautiful evening. We started with drinks and the cheese bread with marinara for the appetizer. We later placed a food order and decided to try a variety of things since it was our first time. We ordered pepperoni rolls, a thin crust create your own pizza with pepperoni, onion, and bell peppers, and a hand tossed Italian beef pizza. After a significant amount of time the waitress returned to check on us and let us know the pizzas would be out soon, so we asked her about the appetizer. She admitted that she forgot to put it in. She asked if we still wanted it, which we did, and so she said it would be 8 minutes in the oven. The food all came out within the next 10 minutes or so (minus the appetizer), and we dove in. It was all very good and we were happy with the options we chose. The waitress returned once we were finished eating and we asked for boxes and the check. The appetizer still hadn't came out. She apologized again and asked if we just wanted it boxed up to go, to which we said yes. Several minutes later a manager showed up and told us again, that there was a miscommunication and the appetizer was never made and yet to be placed in the oven. At this point, we asked it to be canceled and just asked for boxes and the check. Things happen, and the way they responded to the mistake is the reason I am still giving them 4 stars. They reduced our bill significantly and offered us a coupon for a free pizza on the next visit as a way to make things right. The waitress was great and the manager was very professional. We will give them another try next time we are in town. read more

While visiting ISU we stopped in for some pizza to try something new & WOW were we surprised. We tried the beer cheese appetizer, those who took part said it was delicious. A must when you visit Bloomington. Many beers on tap, food is great. We had the carnivore pizza, and Mac attack. Both were great but the Mac attack was by far my favorite. Delicious. Great flavor. Could have been spicier for my taste but the mix of topping/cheese/sauce was good. The beer selection was nice and I was able to have a couple new ones I'd never tried before. Time for flinger rolls, round 2! Is this a revisit or a new review? A bit of both since I've had Flingers many times but it was in an older building in another part of town. My dad and I talk fondly of Flingers and their famous flinger rolls so we decided to stop talking about it and drop in for a meal. Upon entering, we waited in line until we told the people at the hostess counter that we would like to dine in. The hostess had a bit of a snobby attitude but we got seated quickly and had a friendly waitress come out and greet us. We got waters and looked over the menus despite knowing what we were already going to get. My dad and I both got three flinger rolls with jalapeno, pepperoni, and sausage in it and got some bread sticks as an appetizer. Despite the crazy crowd coming in for the even more crazy lunch deals ($1.95/slice is insane, imo.) the bread sticks came out after about 5-7 minutes. We quickly dug in as we both didn't eat breakfast and were starving. Shortly after that, the flinger rolls came out and looked delicious. The bread sticks, while good, seemed a bit airy and not as filling as they initially looked. They came with marinara and cheese dipping sauce and were good either sauced up or not. The flinger rolls also had that airy vibe to them. I mentioned to my dad that after 3 bread sticks, I won't be able to put down the rolls but as I started eating... there seemed to be plenty of room for everything. We requested marinara sauce and spicy ranch as our dipping sauces and boy, did they compliment the rolls really well. As we finished, I mentioned to my dad that I was full but not really at the same time. I don't think I could've ate much more but knew that within an hour or so, that fullness would be replaced with emptiness. It's a shame that the rolls aren't as filling as I remember because it did seem like they were light on the toppings and having to pay for the toppings per roll for each roll gets pricey quick. Our bill was around $46 for 6 rolls, a thing of bread sticks, two waters, and a unsweet tea. I was super hyped to have a flinger roll again after so long but maybe the rose-tinted glasses were on today because while the food was super delicious and fresh, it felt like the toppings on the rolls have gotten skimpy and the rudeness of the hostess upon entering dropped it from a 5 to a 4. Still a really good place for pizza, beer, and various other menu items but it definitely lost some of that charm that the old place had. read more

Atmosphere was fun so there were no issues there. The pizza did have a fair amount of ingredients but for some reason the cheese was not there. I would have given a 4 if the cheese was covering the whole pizza. Everyones taste is different but I like a lot of ingredients and cheese with a New York style crust. It's hard to find that perfect pie. Can't win ''em all. Maybe the next time I try it I will have to order extra cheese. read more

Finally got back after a year hiatus and indulged in the full on goodness of the leftover August pizza of the month, let's hope they make it a permanent pie! We all agreed once again there is no other Italian marriage to America this good in the Midwest. I generally avoid paying for pizza as I can prop up a proper win myself with day old sourdough sliced thick, good marinara, and such toppings as work in the moment.
