Came here on a Sunday afternoon thinking it would be a great time to have some traditional Irish cuisine with the family. The Scotch eggs were amazing. I didn't care much for the reuben bites but my husband did. I ordered the boxty with a side if Irish bacon. I could smell the Guinness in the stew but didn't taste it. It actually tasted more like Dinty Moore. The bacon was 100% NOT Irish bacon. It was American streaky bacon. That was a massive disappointment. My husband loved his stew in the bread bowl. My older son really liked the wrap. The service was excellent. The environment 100% not fit for young children even on a Sunday afternoon (we had our 7 year old with us). Drunk guy singing at the top if his lungs and dropping f-bombs. Altercation across the street that required the police and dudes walking around in prom dresses and colored wigs. Dined here on a Monday night so no live music or much activity. The servers were friendly and the dining experience was good overall. Had the Boxty Cheese Dip appetizer. The potato pancakes were warm and fluffy and the cheese dip had a thick rich and just slightly spicy flavor. A very enjoyable appetizer. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection. Classic Irish Pub Vibes. My husband, friend and I went here on a Sunday evening when it was real slow. The waitress did seat us in a spot that wasn't too close to the loudness at the bar which was nice. We ordered cork fries and the beer pretzel. The fries were tasty and the pretzel was, but I don't think they cooked it long enough because you could feel the frozen hardness at one point. Had a quick lunch of fish and chips here and a couple pints of Guinness. Our server was really good and kept the glasses full. The fish was good but the batter on the fish was a little mushy for my taste.we were there early for lunch, before noon and I am guessing maybe the fryers were not quite hot enough. Had the worst lunch today. Second bad meal there in the last month. I'm done giving them more chances. Fish (in fish & chips) coating was thick, greasy, burnt and doughy. Fish inside was dry. I'm not entirely versed on Irish pubs (sorry!), so I don't know if this place is a genuine experience... or a college-town compromise. It was pretty good! I chose the Shepherds pie and was a great entree. There was a curry fries which was pretty remarkable. Good overall! read more

I was in town visiting a friend and he wanted to try this place. We came on a Wednesday at 5pm and it wasn't too busy but it seemed like a good crowd. Our server was great and I loved the feel of the place. It felt like an Irish pub. Except for the country music. Lol. Lots of space and not too loud. Ordered the Traditional Irish Coffee and it was smooth and delicious. Loved the foam on top. Very nicely done. For dinner I got the corned beef sandwich. For someone who has a potato allergy, I wasn't sure how it would go at an Irish pub, but they had some good options. My friend had the shepherds pie and thought it was really good. Went to Maggie Miley's recently and it was disappointing. They had a pork tenderlion sandwich special that I ordered. The " tenderloin" was more like a thick boneless pork chop and not pounded out at all. I tried to eat it as a sandwich but ended up cutting it up with a knife. Not what i expected and clearly not a tenderloin. On the plus side the draft beers were nice and cold. read more

This has been one of my favorite places to eat in Blono since my college days years ago, and I still make the trip over here from the Peoria area once in a while because it is the only place around to get truly authentic Irish meals like the traditional breakfast. Background noise level is VERY loud, but again - this is a pub after all!! The food was very good and authentic. My only complaint was the Irish Beef Stew. It was served in a bread bowl that was WAY too small for the price. They hollowed out the bowl, but that left literally only 4-5 spoonfuls of stew to be had!! The stew was spot-on, but the actual portion was TINY!! All other meals were also delicious, and portioned appropriately. If you are in the area and like Irish Food/Beer, come on in!! read more

Drink here maybe. Don't eat here. Kitchen is a mess. They didn't have "anything with chicken" or the Irish breakfast. When we ordered the boxty, they were out of that, too. We ended up ordering potato skins, with no bacon but add tomato and onion. We also ordered the fish and chips. We were told they didn't do the potato skins right so it would be a while. An hour later we received our food with cups of tomato and onions for the potato skins. The fries that came with the fish looked like ashes. Little pieces of burnt potato. Don't eat here. So, I used to love this place. Until today. It took us 20 mins to order our drinks which consists of sprite and water. Which took 10 mins to get to us. The waiter is very friendly. It took them another 20 to fix our lunch which is normal. The wait staff is great and so is the food. read more

My wife and I stopped in for some food on a Monday evening and we were so glad we did! We ordered the Ruben fritters and onion rings for appetizers, and then ordered the pot pie dinner to split. We got the cheddar and bacon topping too on the pot pie. Everything was delicious! The Ruben bites were wonderful. Fried just right. The onion rings had this incredible fried batter, you could taste the quality. Again, both deep fried to perfection. The pot pie was amazing. These pot pies are home cooked every morning we were told, and believe me, you can tell. Plenty for us to split and be satisfied. Haley was our server. OMG! Stopped in for an evening drink. The place stunk like stale beer that had not been cleaned off wood floors... the service was fine; bartenders friendly. However, I thought I was going to FALL off my chair when I closed my tab... I was charged 0.79 for two samples of beer - to be clear, they were offered when I inquired what the beer was like AND no one indicated there were charges for these! Seriously... you have problems as an establishment if you remove ALL customer-forward practices. FAIL! Out of principle I encourage others to avoid this subpar establishment! (Sorry. Pros: Great fries. The best, actually. Great IPS on tap & the sunday prices are awesome. Cons: This is not an irish pub. This is a sports bar that, I guess, wants to try to appeal to both crowds for some reason? That's impossible and just ruins anything even remotely irish they were trying to convey. This place really is best during the day b/c the, um, douchebags come out at night and play the worst music (again, almost nothing irish is played at night for sure). We had not eaten at Maggie Miley's in a while but were hugely disappointed. My husband ordered Corned beef and cabbage and he was served chunks of ham not corned beef. My fish was overcooked and the fries were barely warm. The women's bathroom was disgusting. The sink was coming off the wall, a bucket was under it to catch water. Soap dispenser broke. Food was marginal...thank goodness it isn't too expensive! Service was awful!!! Apparently there was some type of kitchen incident(fire?), but everyone around us was getting their food....we weren't! We ended up canceling our food order due to the extreme delay (over an hour and a half). Appetizers were just ok...nothing special. In their defense, our appetizers were comp'd. They also offered a gift card, but after this experience, we won't be back anytime soon so, no thanks! This is not the first time service has been an issue and I do believe in second chances, but we're done here. My recommendation...find another restaurant!! read more

Came here while traveling across the country. Nice little irish pub in Normal. Looks like a typical bar, with the Guinness prints around, and dark wood bars and booths. Server was great, quick, friendly and efficient. Ordered Cork Chop dinner, stuffed chicken breast dinner, Irish Ruben and kids tenders. Kids tenders were the typical order, Ruben was a good size and pretty good. The dinners were large size portions. Chicken was alright, it was cooked fine not dry, same with the pork. Mashed potatoes were not very good, and the steamed veggies tasted like it had cinnamon on it, one person at the table didn't mind it but I was not a fan. Overall, prices are definitely reasonable, especially the drink prices. read more

Maggie's is home to me. Great atmosphere, good service - a really good place to get a Guinness. I also eat here often. Food can be a little hit and miss, but there are real standouts. The leek and potato soup is amazing. This is always good - consistent and very flavorful, whether or not you get it with the optional bacon and cheese on top. And it comes with really tasty irish soda bread. Another home run is the Full Irish Breakfast. It's perfect every time - a huge platter of various sausages, plus eggs, grilled tomato, baked beans and the soda bread. You'll never go wrong with those. I also enjoy the Irish Beef Stew Boxty (beef stew with layers of potato pancakes). It's not very pretty, but it's good comfort food and way more than you can possibly eat. Unfortunately, the fish and chips is very disappointing (and I've tried it various times). Good quality fish (firm and flaky) that has absolutely no seasoning, with thick and heavy batter that's cooked hard on the outside and semi-raw on the inside (and you shouldn't be able to refer to the inside of batter - for fried fish, the inside of the batter should be the fish). Probably needs a new batter recipe and maybe chilled liquid to make it lighter. It doesn't even play well with the malt vinegar that they helpfully supply. I have hopes that this will improve someday, as a Guinness with fish and chips is one of my favorite combinations. Sandwiches at Maggie's are fine as are some of the other dishes like shepherd's pie. But for real quality, go for the Irish breakfast or the leek and potato soup. read more
