Everyone is so frantic and trying to move as fast as they can they forget to still enjoy life. I am telling you this because I just had a wonderful experience when I stopped by to try out this newer (been open one year) eatery in Lincoln. To my surprise the owner herself was working by herself clocking out some to-go orders all while making my food and chatting with me about her story through the food industry. She let me know that the number one selling item is their burger, so naturally I had a hamburger with lettuce, onion and pickle - no mustard or ketchup needed! The burger was outstanding much like the service; a true American story of opening your own business, with your own recipes and your own money - ohhh and the food is great - you do not find these type of places often anymore. Well done and I will definitely return soon and bring more people with me!!

I consider myself a... fried chicken connoisseur and decided to try them upon my next visit. The place is run by a mother/daughter combo that seriously have it figured out. FINALLY I have a go to chicken joint in that area. (Goodbye gas station). These two hard working ladies have great chemistry and a passion for their hustle. They understand price, portions, and how to SEASON FOOD! I wish them ALL the best success. They SOUL me, and If you like comfort food, they'll touch your SOUL as well. Get some

The BBQ was outstanding, the sides like fried corn on the cob and the pecan pie was fabulous. The Ribs were fall of the bone tender and super delicious. Couple this with the superb waitress, Peyton, made for a one of a kind awesome experience.

How do I rate this BBQ joint that had superb sweet tea for Illinois standards and great good but…read morecommits one of the biggest sins a BBQ joint restaurant can commit? Which sin is that you may ask? Being stingy with sauce. I ordered a 3 meat platter and it comes with only 2 2oz cups of sauces. 4 oz of sauce is not going to take care of 3 meats! They have 8 sauces in all but that's only a tease. Are the sauces made of gold because they better be at the $1.00 they charge for another 2 oz cup of sauce. I could live with $0.25 but out of the 321 or so or so BBQ joints I have been to on Yelp, none of them wanted to keep me from their sauce like Brass Pig. By the way, it wasn't mentioned on the menu. I didn't know how much it costs until the bill showed up. My waitress, who was wonderful by the way, I asked her about it. She told me she would get in trouble if she didn't charge me for sauce and she hated it as well! So to answer my question - Brass Pig should receive a 4 because the sweet tea was refreshingly sweet and everything on my plate was delicious. But it gets a 2 because I am never coming back. There are plenty of other BBQ joints that willingly give their sauce for free, make it in-house, and don't charge as high for extra 2 oz of sauce.
