When it comes to sell your items to them, they have proven to be very a very dishonest business. The estimates they provide in their website, even if you rate your selling equipment at the lowest condition, it is double or more of what they end paying you as the seller. In other words, don't expect even half of what they initially say your gear is worth. Even if you rate your items at the lowest condition. I don't believe they even look closely at what you send them, because they rated several mint items I sent them, to AS-IS Condition. I also took the time to take a comparison list between what they offered for my equipment initially, and the lowest grade and price of the same list. The total was much higher than what they rated my items. In other words, the initial estimates they provide are double (or more than double) than what they are willing to pay once your gear is in their hands. Such estimates they provide are totally unrealistic. and are giving to lure inexperienced customers, to practically give away their gear, so they resell it for way way to much higher times, the price what they paid you. When you ask them WHY such a disparity (as I mentioned, less than half of what they told you) they claim that it is due to you giving a wrong grading to your gear. But as I have mentioned above, even if you rate ALL your equipment at the lowest grade, still they WILL PAY YOU LESS than the estimate given by them. Avoid to be 'taken' by KEH. And stay away from KEH, unless you are willing to surrender your gear for next to nothing. I would rather give my used gear to a school as a donation, or to a non-profit group. NOTE: Very conveniently for KEH, they DO NOT provide a per item list of the prices they came up with, at the end. Instead they give a total amount, lacking the information of WHY the amount initially expected drop to less than half of what they actually want to pay you. I've been buying and recommending KEH since I started photography 4 years ago. When purchasing used gear I always find that KEH has a much more accurate grading system and items have always been delivered in a higher condition than my expectation and are always in perfect working order. KEH has always been my number one choice when I or a friend first is looking for a piece of pre owned gear. This opinion changed today. Over the past 4 years I have never had to contact KEH customer service. Now that I have, I will no longer be ordering or recommending their business. I contacted KEH customer service for what I believe was a very innocent and easily fixable mistake. I ordered a LUMIX 14mm 2.5 version 1 lens. The listing showed a black version of the lens with no other mention of another color. For a little background, KEH does not post the exact picture of the products they are selling but ALWAYS create separate listings when items have different finish or color variations. Well, I received a silver version of this lens instead of the pictured black. When asking that I get an even exchange for a black version of the product I was told the listing did not specify it was black so it is not their fault. I was told they only have the version II in stock in black but I would have to pay an extra 18 dollars for it. I simply requested that because of the inconvenience can I just get it discounted the $18 so it can be an even exchange because I felt as if this was not my fault. I was then told the technician says the version I only comes in silver which is NOT accurate. After 3 phone calls I have still not been offered any remedy other than paying for the shipping and returning my item and paying the extra money for the black one. For a company as established and successful as KEH, I would expect a much higher degree of customer service. Especially over a price difference of a measly $18. The equipment was graded using the condition guidelines provided on the website when the quote wizard was used...to the letter. I've since found other reviews of similar experiences with the apparent 'bait and switch' on pricing, and I also found a review on another website from someone else that had their equipment damaged by KEH, so I'm not the only one. It never crossed my mind to photograph the equipment prior to shipping as it never crossed my mind that KEH would damage it and then not accept responsibility. Perhaps you can provide a video of the box being opened and the camera being carefully unwrapped upon arrival at KEH as documentation it was damaged when it arrived? Only a video showing the process of the package being opened and the camera being unwrapped would prove the camera was damaged when it arrived at KEH as it would be easy for someone to damage the camera and then take a photo after the fact. I can absolutely provide photographs of the camera in it's present condition showing that every other surface of the camera is in pristine condition, which is evidence of the level of care the camera was given. It certainly appears the damage was caused by a sharp instrument such as a box cutter or knife probably when it was being opened at KEH. The first time the camera would have been anywhere near a sharp object would have been at KEH. By damaging my equipment and refusing to accept responsibility for it KEH has simply been dishonest. Whether it's just an employee that damaged the equipment and then claimed the damage was already present or a case of the others knowing it was damaged by KEH and covering it up indicating the problem is more pervasive I don't know...all I do know is KEH damaged my equipment and refuses to compensate me for the damage. I've now filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission in addition to those already filed with the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Protection Unit of the Georgia Department of Law. read more

I'm fairly new to dealing with KEH. So far, my experience with them has been completely positive. After hearing about the company for years, I recently ordered a camera, then two lenses, then several accessories. In my judgment, all the equipment I received was either as advertised or in better shape than advertised. The camera, for instance, an Olympus EM1 Markii advertised as Excellent, had barely 2000 shutter activations. In both looks and function, it was essentially new. Packaging for all items I've ordered has been generous and secure. Where I have been most impressed with KEH is in the service I received when things hit a snag. KEH seems to have had number of delays in shipping with FedEx, due to the Covid surge and resulting labor shortages. (Lately, I have experienced delays with other cross-country FedEx shipments.) Within an hour of writing KEH to complain that the package I was expecting was way overdue and that FedEx was offering no estimate of when it would arrive, I received an email from Dan, saying that KEH had requested a trace on the package. Over the next few days, I think I received four follow-up messages from Dan. The package eventually showed up of its own accord, before FedEx could respond to the trace. But even so, I felt reassured that KEH had responded to my complaint so quickly. Because of my recent experience, I plan to shop at KEH the next time I'm looking for used camera gear.looks read more

If you are going to sell your camera equipment to this company plan on getting about half of what you think it's worth in about twice as much time as you think it'll take. I sent them basically unused equipment, given, it was about nine years old but Their ambiguous for those nine years it had basically sat untouched. There ambiguous grading scale rated the equipment as excellent plus, not like new minus, which I felt it was, resulting in about a $350 difference in price. But that wasn't even the worst part. I explained to their purchasing department several different times that I needed the check by a certain date because I was moving. By the time frame published on their website they had more than enough time to facilitate that. As the deadline came closer and closer it became obvious that they were not going to meet the timeframe. I contacted the purchasing department and they assured me it would be no problem that they could take the shipping out of the offer and FedEx the check to me. The offer came and I accepted it and again contacted the purchasing department requesting the Fed ex. I got an email back stating the offer had been accepted and closed out and the check was on its way. Here we are eight days later and still no check. It has now been almost a month since I sent the camera equipment in. So if you're in any kind of rush to get cash for your camera Equipment I would look elsewhere. read more

I've have used KEH for a few different purchases in recent months, and I've been very impressed with the quality of the used gear they sell, their rating system, and the prices. But most of all, especially with my most recent purchase, I was blown away with their customer service. Today I picked up a Pentax K-1. I have been looking for a used K-1 for some time now, and I finally saw one on the KEH website Sunday night. I called Monday morning to find out the condition of the product, and I was connected with Jena. She was very helpful, and I decided to go ahead and purchase the camera. I hit a lot of road bumps along the way managing to complete my order due to a banking app error and Affirm's strange loan underwriting processes. I had already been approved for a loan when I made the order, but because two applications came in at once, two loans were underwritten, and I had one hell of a time figuring out how to accept my original offer and get rid of the new one on Affirm's system. I spoke with Jena several times throughout the day, and I have to say, I've never dealt with a more dedicated salesperson or customer service person in my life. I'm used to dealing with customer service people who aren't really interested in helping. Would you buy a used car from a dealer... without knowing the mileage? I was looking to purchase a used professional grade camera and I thought I'd give KEH a try. After checking out their online inventory I decided to give them a call. I was interested in 2 of their cameras in the $1000.00 to $2000.00 range. I wanted to know the shutter count as it is a good indicator of how much life is left in a camera - it has a major bearing on the value of a used camera in much the same way that mileage has a major bearing on determining the value of a used car. But when I inquired I was told "We don't provide that information." Full stop. Pardon??? So I politely asked again... I explained that a camera model with 10,000 actuations has a vastly different value than the same camera model with with 200,000 actuations. After a very long pause I received a somewhat sarcastic "So?" as a reply... and nothing more. So I wished the salesperson a good day... and took my business elsewhere. If you'd consider buying a used vehicle sight unseen without even knowing the mileage... than KEH may be an OK choice for buying a used camera. But a good used camera can cost as much or more than a lot of used cars, and if the dealer can't even be bothered to tell you the mileage then you might want to consider buying your next camera elsewhere. read more

My first purchase with KEH Camera was for a smallhd focus 5 monitor, order # 3135490. I expressed some concerns to the sales rep about the shipping company that KEH uses because of issues that I've had with them in the past. The sales rep was very professional and attentive to my concerns and even forwarded word of my issue to his shipping supervisor. The rep and shipping supervisor added additional conditions to my package to insure it would remain safe, however the shipping company ignored all of the special conditions added... Thankfully, I was waiting for the package so I did receive it... I contacted the sales rep and informed him that I had received the monitor but the company never attempted to get a signature, they simply tossed it over an unlocked gate and drove away. A few hours later I was contacted by a customer service specialist named "Dan Orchard" apologizing for my experience and to verify that I had no issues with the monitor. I am so incredibly impressed with the level of customer service that I have received from first contact to the conclusion of my transaction with KEH Camera. This was hands down the best customer service experience that I've had in over 10 years. I plan to recommend them to any and everyone. read more

I recently purchased a Fuji GSW690III from KEH, listed as fully functional, but my experience was anything but. After testing five rolls of film, I found that the shutter only worked about 10% of the time. A trusted professional at Nippon NYC confirmed the camera's gear ring was damaged beyond repair, rendering it unserviceable. When I reached out to KEH, a Randy, on customer support, assured me that a refund or exchange was possible. Following his instructions, I sent the camera back with the diagnostic paperwork. However, 1.5 weeks later, a staffer, last name Greco, informed me that because a "third party tampered with the camera," they were voiding any refund or exchange. Not only was "tampered" a misrepresentation, but this policy failed to consider how I could otherwise confirm the issue. Despite my attempts to find a resolution, including offering to pay for their repair, they refused every option, hiding behind rigid policy rather than addressing the faulty product they sold me for $1,100. I received a defective item and was met with policy-driven indifference--a disappointing and costly experience for a would-be-life-long-customer expecting integrity and critical understanding. read more

**UPDATE** Robin, one of the mangers from KEH contacted me yesterday and apologized for how my quote was handled, and said they would honor the price i was quoted online. While I think their speed in turnaround time could be better, I'm happy to report they made right on this issue and I will bring my business back to KEH if I'm ever in the need for camera equipment again. KEH Camera is a fraud, they give me a quote online or $139 and once they received my equipment they say it has above average wear and reduce the value of my equipment by half when the only issue was the 3" display on the back which is why i didn't classify the camera as perfect condition in the first place. If someone gives their equipment and honest grade you should honor the quote. The screen can be replaced for $6 off ebay, so you wanted to give me half the value, replace that screen and turn around and sell it for $140. What a joke, if the camera is not a high demand camera and that is your true reason, that is what you should tell the customer, don't insult them. I recommend not trying to sell your equipment to them, additionally it took them over a month to get back to me. read more

In a word, KEH is exceptional. Over the past decade I have bought a number of cameras and lenses from them, all of which greatly exceeded my expectations. More recently, I have used KEH's repair department to fix some issues relating to an old Nikon S2 rangefinder and, most recently, a 75 Summilux. In both instances, KEH performed better than I had reason to hope. They turned what was an unusable camera into one that works as if it were brand new, and they fixed my lens for well below the agreed-upon price. Regarding the lens specifically, Leica USA charged me in excess of $350 to CLA it a few years back, but their own technicians failed to properly secure part of the lens body, which resulted in it becoming loose over time. Additionally, Leica took several months to complete the repair. Contrast this with KEH who charged $55 and took two weeks to get my lens back to me in perfect condition. I look forward to conducting more business with KEH in the future. It will also be my first choice for fixing my old and esoteric cameras and lenses. read more

KEH offers wholesale camera gear at inflated retail prices. The business model is simple - buy low, sell high, don't worry about the customer. I ordered equipment rated E+ and received items that were cosmetically flawed and inoperative. One of the items came with a completely unrelated cable. How does this happen? KEH buys used gear from unknown sources. The subjective valuation scale is based on appearance. Based on my experience with KEH, functionality is of less concern than the appearance. In summary, customers will pay for for pretty regardless of functionality. I saved $25 purchasing a used item rated E+ from KEH that does not work. Returns/RMA takes 3-5 days to process once received. If you're in a hurry or actually depend on your gear to earn a living you may end up short on your mortgage. No hurry here ... Placed my replacement order from B&H and should have my item by Saturday. In the meantime I have to ship my inoperative gear to KEH, and wait for them to process before shipping a replacement. I recently purchased a DSLR camera from KEH Camera that was advertised as being in EX+ condition. After only a couple hundred shots and completely normal handling, the mirror became loose -- something that absolutely should not happen with a properly inspected camera. I contacted KEH customer support and immediately received an automated email promising a response within 24 hours. That never happened, so I had to follow up myself. When I finally did get a response, it was extremely disappointing. Despite KEH heavily promoting their 180-day warranty, I was told my camera was not covered. Their "solution" was to offer a repair that would cost me hundreds of dollars. This is not what I expect from a company that markets itself as a trusted source for used camera gear. Poor customer service, misleading warranty claims, and no accountability for defective equipment. Terrible way to do business -- I would strongly recommend staying away from this company. read more

Amazing experience! I had a camera I barely used that I was trying to sell on Facebook and other marketplaces, but if you've ever done it before, it takes a long time to find a buyer (especially locally, so you don't get scammed). I researched different programs for selling your camera, and KEH's was the most trusted. The whole selling experience was a breath. I printed out a pre-paid shipping label, packed, and sent the camera. In a couple of days, I got a notification that my camera had been received. In a few more days, I already got an offer, and it was exactly the amount promised when I first entered the info on my camera. I was very happy, accepted the amount on Friday, and got paid on Monday via PayPal. It took 15 minutes of my time total, I got over $300 for my camera, and I saved myself so much time and hassle! I bought a used 18-55mm lenses for my Canon rebelXT 350D and was highly pleased with the packaging, lens quality and price. I will definitely keep them in mind for any potential needs in the future! For those cry babies; buy new and pay new, then you'll come back again. But always read the entire unit condition details first to make your decision, then compare price last. I've been doing it that way for years without any problems. Even when shopping on ebay; check for like new condition first, then price next and shipping last. You can save money but you have to be diligent. But for me KEH is the place to shop or if you're close enough, drop in and buy after you've seen it. The only problem I've read on their site that does need to be addressed is, if they're going to require a signature, then it needs to be specified! read more

In my previous review, I wrote about how the lens they received was not the lens I shipped to them. KEH reached out to me and looked further into the issue. While they could not find anything, they offered to pay for it at the lower end of the quote, and are working with FedEx to see how this type of incident can be prevented in the future. In short, they went out of their way to makes things right as best as they could, though unfortunately, we are both out a little bit of money and someone else has a free lens. So, I'm bumping up their rating due to their great customer service. Over the years, I've bought and sold Nikon gear to KEH and have always had a great experience. We started using the service when I was shooting a 8008 in an underwater housing. After flooding it (no surprise - it's never a matter of IF, but WHEN), Nikon recommended I get backup cameras from KEH. Brilliant. Since 2003, I went completely digital and sold all my film cameras, a few digital SLRs. plus a few lenses to KEH. This time, I sold my remaining full-frame DSLR plus three lenses since I've reached the age where carrying that much gear is just a burden instead of a pleasure.
