I'm so displeased with the way I was treated today. I have gone to this salon several times, each time very clear about what I wanted done. Not one of the times did I actually get what I wanted. Today was elevated with the poor customer service. The crazy part is, I can easily afford to pay for the services, have always been pleasant and never complained even though I walked out disappointed more than once. I try to give the benefit of the doubt because it takes time to establish a relationship but, no more.I'm sure no one there cares at all about any of this. Oh well. I can honestly say this is the best salon I've been to. They do have many regulars, "I've been going here 10 years," the woman in the chair next to me said. They have built up a lot of customer loyalty. I've moved to Houston for work, but I still come back every couple of months and I always have an appointment waiting at Keith Noonan. I use Chris Kijko for styling. He can do it all. A lot has happened to my hair in the last few years and he's helped me do what I want with it, and given me all the tips I need to make it look good on my own. Growing out long, trimming back, all the while keeping it looking natural and just plain good. No matter what disaster befalls my poor locks, he's like the Cleaner there to fix the mess. I've been getting my hair colored by Sunny Kijko, as well. She's got a good eye for fashionable looks and I've had a lot of fun playing around with different colors--for making a statement but at the same time keeping it subtle and professional. She's also been a huge help in make-up, and spent a session with me suggesting new looks. They have a very good, fun, and friendly group that works the salon overall. I recently got my hair done at the salon from Ronda and though I haven't been there in a great while I will DEFINTELY be returning. I have very dense thin hair and Ronda knew just what to do to give it movement and bounce. The aveda products were terrific and left me with a soft, clean scent that lasted the entire evening. The staff is professional and extremely nice, and the products, the atmosphere - just the whole salon - feels first class. I see Trang for my color, and she is wonderful. I have yet to find a salon that can rival Keith Noonan's or a stylist that can compare to Chris. I trust him unconditionally with my hair. He is really good about listening to the type of cut that you want but he also takes your hair type into account as well as the amount of effort you're willing to invest in styling your hair after you leave the salon. Sometimes I have an idea of what my hair to look like, but usually I don't and I always LOVE the cut I get. I grew up getting my hair cut at Keith Noonan's and while I have occasionally strayed and gotten hair cuts elsewhere by necessity, they never compare to the cuts I get from Chris. Getting my hair cut here is a bit of a splurge (around $70 after tip) but it is totally worth it. My hair cuts look great for months, not just on the day I get the cut. Just an example of customer satisfaction/loyalty: for about the past 10 years, Chris has cut my mom's hair, my aunts' hair, and my cousin's hair. Chris styled my hair for my wedding and it looked fantastic. Every time I come back to New Orleans, right after I buy my plane ticket, I make an appointment for a hair cut with Chris! read more

Warning: Be sure to ask how much they charge for each procedure when you call. I was appalled to find out that 3/4 highlights cost $145 -- in N.O.?! I only asked for half-highlights, and the colorist didn't tell me she was doing a much more expensive treatment. I've never paid that much for my hair -- even in Rome, where I lived for many years. I paid a fraction of that when I lived in Washington, DC for equal quality. They do a great job, but you'll pay the highest rates in NOLA if you don't ask when you make an appointment how much your particular stylist/colorist costs. It seems they automatically assign new customers to their most expensive colorist. That's not just my guess, and I don't want to specify how I know, but it's what they do. For that reason alone, I won't go back. There are too many good salons in NOLA to do business with people who behave that way. They offered to reduce the price, but only after I expressed outrage and told them I wouldn't be back. Too late. I'll bring my business elsewhere. I'd expect people to behave like this in NYC, L.A. or Rome, but not in my hometown. read more

I have long, curly hair. It's almost impossible to find a stylist that can work with long, curly hair (believe me, I've tried). I've heard everything from "you have enough hair on your head for two people", to "I should charge you double for so much hair"! I was down in NOLA from New York for the weekend for a friend's wedding. I randomly looked up salons on YELP and read some great reviews about this salon so I decided to check it out. The reviews were absolutely true. I was beyond happy with my hair style. Drew was my stylist. He personally washed my hair along with gave me a scalp massage, he also gave me a hand massage. He was so cheerful, friendly, and just amazing. When they say everyone in the South is friendly they were not kidding! Drew gave me a beautiful full blow dry and styling. He was a true professional, he knew exactly how to handle my hair texture (I am Indian), NO ONE thus far has come close to his great work. The salon is so gorgeous. It is HUGE with lots of stylists. It is located in a shopping plaza and very close to all areas in NOLA so it isn't too far of a drive for anyone. IF ANY ONE NEEDS TO GET A BEAUTIFUL, AFFORDABLE, AND PERFECT HAIRDO PLEASE TAKE A DRIVE OVER TO KEITH NOONAN ASAP! Next time I am in NOLA I will definitely come back!! Drew is a great stylist who always starts off a cut with a relaxing scalp and hand massage and keeps you engaged with genuine conversation while trimming your locks. He is conscious of what you want but also advises you against making decisions that are bad for your hair. He is always great about squeezing you in when you're in a bind. I've always had long hair, but through necessity I needed my hair cut short. I left it up to Chris to choose the style and he gave me the cut Meg Ryan wore in "French Kiss", which can be styled in a number of ways. I couldn't be happier with my short hair; I don't think I will ever go back to having long hair. I don't quite know what has happened since 1/2 of the staff left to start their own salon, but it hasn't been good. It is difficult to write this review, because I LOVE the ladies who color and cut my hair. They are amazing and do great work. However, my root touch up and a few foils wound up costing me more than DOUBLE what I expected. When I asked why so expensive at check-out, the staff mumbled something about this and that, did not truly address my questions. Lesson learned - ASK before allowing any treatment to be done. Just for kicks, I asked for a pink stripe in my hair for Valentines day. I saw the pink in the bowl, saw her apply it...and cannot see anything in my hair that resembles a pink stripe. But you'd better believe I was charged for it. I also notice the base color is ash colored, not what I normally have. I will stop by the salon to ask about that...
