Together we decided that an Agreement of Child Support and Custody document would suffice for my needs. This document was to be drawn up and filed through the court system. In total I paid the firm $1258 for this to take place. I called the firm to speak with Ebony to ask her some general questions and found out that not only did she quit, she did not file the document that I paid to have her file through the court system. I spoke with an attorney there by the name of Phil Hamilton. Since none of the other attorneys handle family law there, all they could do for me was recommend other attorneys. I told Mr. Hamilton that I would like to have my money back, considering that I paid for a service that was not provided. He was hesitant to give anything back to me at all. He did finally agree on only $800 of the $1258. I did pick up the money and my file. My mother called on my behalf trying to get them to agree to give me a full refund, considering that what they were charging me for was not valid. The promises that were made were not provided. This document was drawn up and signed in May of 2017. This whole time I thought that it had been filed through the court system and had weight to it. It is in now January of 2018 and I just now found out that was never completed. They told my mother they would not even speak with her because they did not represent her. They were extremely rude. I called them and told them they had my permission to speak with her and they were very rude to me. They said that since she was not my attorney it did not matter to them if I gave my permission they were not going to speak with her and they were not going to give me the remainder of the funds. I think this firm is corrupt and I am making a formal complaint about them. It is unfair what was done to me and how I was treated.

Wasn't transparent about pricing and charged much more than quoted. I told her we would be parting ways after tax season, as my S-corp return and personal have not even been started on yet (S-corp due March 15, they filed extension March 14 but didn't give me any updates, today is April 5) about which I was not notified, and she had the gall to fire me as a client 10 days before individual taxes are due because I set boundaries with her. Her emails included insults and personal attacks, and her office did not return everything to me that I sent them. Cites reason for the incompetence is that an accountant left her firm. Perhaps if she weren't so ugly to clients and employees, people would stay. Here are some comments she made to me just today via email (not counting previous encounters): When I asked why they didn't call about discovering my returns haven't been worked on: "I am not curt. I am still confident, and that's why we are working our tails away instead of crying over it on the phone." "Can you please stop panicking for no reason?" When I questioned the hike in pricing and lack of transparency about it (important to note I told her when I hired her that I am new to being a business owner and need some guidance, which she agreed to provide): "I am also certain you realize it took time to answer all your questions in person or over the phone. I understand that you came with very little knowledge of how the S-corps work, but it is not my place to educate for free." This is just a sampling, and there were were pleasant interactions as well. However, there is an overall air of superiority in her communications. Mila seems unable to take accountability for her choices, and deflects them onto her clients when there are negative consequences. For example, I am aware of a former client who fired her as a CPA due to her behavior. When I brought this to her attention, she advised that she fired the client, who is no longer welcome back. I'm aware of more another individual who plans to fire her because of their experiences with how rude she is. She may be good at math, but she is terrible with people.

Brunton convinced me that he needed that money in order to go after the other guy's insurance company, and told me we were set to make millions. So stupidly, I let him keep the whole thing, instead of just his one-third. Which makes him a thieving con man. He then let the defendant use an outright lie in court, even though I had warned him for years that they would try and use it. He kept assuring me that they wouldn't. After HE lost the case, a poll of the jurors found that it was that one piece of evidence (the lie) that turned them against me. Making him incompetent. He then went behind my back and made a deal with the insurance company, wiped the entire trial from the records, and never gave me a penny. Making him a complete scumbag! He also all but guaranteed me a win with my SSI Disability case but he screwed that up too.

I felt some stress upon discovering that I may (or may not) be fined for not filing something that until today, I didn't even know was a thing. But as I've learned from a lawyer friend of mine, "ignorantia juris non excusat." For future reference, an adult pleading ignorance (i.e. "I didn't know") isn't afforded the same levels of leniency as when a child does it. So I called Roberg Tax Solutions, because the local (Oklahoma City) tax advisers are either not quick at responding, or are not willing to provide any insight without seeing dollar signs first. I got her voice mail. I figured that was the end of that, but she called me back within five minutes. I have never before had the pleasure of speaking with someone who was so helpful with tax advice. Along with the advice, I caught a hint of her kind personality, and she helped ease some of my stress. It's disappointing that I had to contact someone from out of state to get the help I needed, but at least I got the help I needed.
