We wanted our open roofed patio enclosed and Shaka's quote was good. We had to schedule around the delivery of the windows I ordered and Danny was very good about organizing a schedule that worked . He even checked prices on windows to see if his contact could do better on price. George was our main framer and he was there every morning and extremely meticulous about his work. They run a very good operation and kept the job site clean and they were very polite. We love the new patio! We didn't put walls in on the inside (just kept the framing open with only exterior siding) and we really like the way it looks, it helps that the framing was done so well. I did all the painting and window trims (inside) myself and also built some big shelves with the scrap lumber that I asked to keep after they were done. Now our previously dirty open outside patio is enclosed, we have a great laundry/relaxation/dog/storage area that is free of leaves and offers cool winds from the jalousies we put in. I would offer no hesitation in recommending Shaka Construction. I've been an owner builder on a previous house where we dealt with a bunch of various contractors and believe Shaka is right up there with the best.

He patiently answered all my questions, then met with us to go over options. We appreciated his experience and familiarity with old-style single family houses like ours (60 years old). He listened to our needs, wants and available budget. We decided on a "middle" option with full solid acrylic pan (since we did not want another broken prefab floor) and cultured marble walls. He referred us to Naka's Marble whose staff was very friendly and helpful in choosing marble type/color. They worked directly with Mason on our custom floor and walls. Mason kept in constant contact with us regarding his work schedule (and of his subs). He was accommodating, flexible and also good to thinking out of the box. I requested a custom shower niche, so he guided me in designing one which was also fabricated by Naka's Marble. Mason was very clear and upfront about his fees, and warned us way in advance that there would be some extra fees along the way due to things that come up with old houses (like rotted wood, plumbing fixes, etc). MK's prices were very competitive compared to other companies (we had also spoken to two other companies prior) but decided on MK after meeting with Mason. Every part of our renovation process went well. Mason has a wealth of knowledge and seems to have many strong contacts in the industry. He worked super hard to give us our dream bathroom; was patient with us as we were not always decisive at times; and constantly kept professional decorum with friendly local vibes. Mason came and assessed the job, added his recommendation and approach and completed the job flawlessly. His work proposal is detailed and itemizes all the materials, outlines tasks included as well as what's not included so there's no misunderstandings. On top of that, he left trash everywhere and all the trimmings from the screen door and door lining all over the floor and didn't bother to clean it up.
