On multiple visits, he stepped in and interrupted conversations I was having with staff, often in a dismissive and unhelpful way. It disrupted the interaction and made the experience unnecessarily uncomfortable. For example, I was asking about a hex key for my fridge handle. A staff member was explaining that the connection was worn out, and I was clarifying whether I could still get a key that fits the socket. At that point, Mr. Goldberg stepped in and said, "we're not doing repairs," which wasn't what I was asking. Similar interruptions have happened 2-3 times, so it doesn't feel like a one-off.

Kudos to the Department of Public Works for EXCELLENT snow removal on the side streets -- enabling parking. I called the day before to make sure I could pick up all the things that I would need to bring back home. I live in Maryland and we were hit with 6 inches of snow with a 4 inch layer of ICE on top. I will need to break the ice before I can clean my parking spot and front walk way. The guys at Goldbergs gave me advice on what i might need. As I browsed the store, I found extra gloves and that weird adapter that I've been looking everywhere for. Sorry -- Amazon, I would rather buy local! They even helped me get my things to the car. If you are local to Tarrytown --- check out Goldbergs Hardware. I could have spent 2 hours looking around Home Depot and not finding what I need --- instead I was in and out in 11 minutes and couldn't be happier. KUDOS... reasonable prices, good quality and they are more than willing to give you advice and help. You know it's reasonable when the guy in front of you is a contractor.

The salesperson I talked to wouldn't even look at it, or even ask another associate to look at it, and told me that I should find a Toro store to have it fixed. When I mentioned that I bought it there and that I was told to bring any item I had a problem with back to the store, the associate just shrugged his shoulders as if to say "so what." Later that day, I spoke to the store manager, Paul, who said that I could bring the weed trimmer in the following week and he'd be happy to exchange it for a new one. Paul even told me that the associate I talked to did not follow store policy and that's not how handle those situations are supposed to be handled at the store. When I went back to the store on the pre-arranged day, Paul brought out the owner of the store, Chris, who told me that I do have to take it to a Toro store and that he wouldn't exchange it as I was promised by the store manager. Why would I buy a product from Berger if they are just going to wash their hands of it when it malfunctions? If I buy a car from a dealership, that dealership deals with the problem car and tries to help the customer with the vehicle. I have bought a lot of stuff from Berger because I wanted to buy local. Now I'm going to tell everyone I know about this and urge them to go to Home Depot.

Our contractor referred us to come here on Central Ave in Yonkers because of their reputation, quality and variety. Lights on Design was like a crisp breath of fresh air when we stopped in here. Main floor is mostly crystal grand chandeliers, attractive contemporary style lights, some 1960s-inspired and more. And, if you're on their website, you can shop by style, fixture type and browse through some of their inspiration gallery photos. Paula was a doll, showed us the upstairs filled with mostly pendant lighting, floor lamps and some smaller chandeliers. Since so much has changed in lighting trend, getting rid of our wrought iron dining area chandelier had to happen as well- especially since it has a country-chicish look I don't like anymore in my home. There's another lighting store on Central Avenue which we could've gone to- but based on reviews, so glad this place came out on top. Owner Glenn, was helpful, patient and friendly. Even when hubs and I didn't find what we wanted on their website, Paula helped locate it in their paper catalog. I loved how she gave us expert advice on how to choose fixtures and even determined which size was best for our space. She was our lighting whisperer.

Today I came in for something I had ordered online. I was directed to this short, fat, bald, man who immediately turned angry the minute asked for his advice on how to use the product. For this guy to get so angry so fast when asked for a simple response, makes me wonder how he still has a job. Honestly, I can only assume that unless this guy has a record of being so prolifically rude to every customer that walks thru the door that this guy is a grade A homophobe. I know homophobia when I see it. Ive lived with it my whole life. But I called him out and told him he was rude and that I could have gone to Home Depot but I want to support Feinsod's in the shadow of a superstore. When I said I could have easily gone to Home Depot but chose not to he screamed to me "THEN GO TO HOME DEPOT!" The staff are all very nice and very knowledgeable. While I use Ring's End for bigger projects, when I'm looking for something specific and cannot find it at Ring's End, I more often than not find that Ridgefield Hardware has what I need. If you don't see what you want quickly, just ask. The great team behind the cash registers at the front will ask when you come in if they can help. Don't be shy--tell them what you are looking for--unless you are just browsing or know exactly where the items you need are located. It will save you time and they'll alert someone to help you.
