My wife and I found Glow Midwifery through an internet search. We had 8+ introductory appointments…read morelined up when my wife was about 10 weeks pregnant because we had always wanted holistic care and, ultimately, an at-home birth. Angela at Glow was our first stop simply because she was the closest to our home. As a husband coming from a medical and pharmaceutical research background, I was initially skeptical of holistic prenatal care. I admittedly dismissed it as "hippy, woo-woo nonsense." I could not have been more wrong. Angela and her team immediately made us feel welcome and at home. Her calm demeanor, combined with her impressive depth of knowledge and experience, put both of us completely at ease. After our introductory visit, my wife and I looked at each other and agreed to cancel the remainder of our appointments. We had found the person who was going to help us bring our first child into the world. Throughout the pregnancy, I continued to be impressed by Angela's thoroughness and accessibility. Either of us could text or call her with the questions and concerns that naturally come with expecting your first child. She was always willing to answer our questions, calm our nervousness, and, when appropriate, point us toward another resource that could help us grow as expecting parents. One of the qualities I respected most was her humility. Angela was upfront about her tools, resources, and abilities, and she provided us with detailed documentation explaining what circumstances would warrant conventional medical intervention. That honesty gave us an enormous amount of confidence in our decision to pursue a home birth. For example, during the third trimester, my wife became concerned that our baby wasn't moving as much as usual. Angela had absolutely no hesitation in recommending that we go to the hospital for an evaluation. Everything turned out to be fine--the baby was simply being a prankster--but the experience reinforced something important to us: Angela was never so committed to the idea of home birth that she would put it ahead of the safety of my wife or our baby. Then came the big day. Angela had already helped us prepare with a birthing pool, comprehensive preparation lists, and everything we needed to be ready for just about every foreseeable situation. She coached us through early labor while I took on my role as a Daddy-Doula. When active labor began and my wife's contractions became more powerful and consistent, we called Angela. She arrived at our home with her tools and her team like the cavalry from a bygone era. The moment they arrived, the entire atmosphere changed. Their presence was calm, gentle, confident, and reassuring. I immediately knew that I could focus entirely on supporting my wife because Angela and her team were watching everything else. Angela coached my wife through the pushing stage while continuously monitoring both her and our baby's vital signs. When our daughter was finally born, I carried her with the umbilical cord still attached while the Glow team helped my wife to the nearby mattress I had prepared. I cut the cord and made sure our daughter was warm and safe while the Glow team immediately shifted their attention to my wife. They helped her deliver the placenta, repaired a small labial tear, monitored her bleeding, and made sure she was recovering appropriately. Then, just as efficiently, they cleaned everything up and allowed my wife and me to spend some quiet time with our newborn in our bedroom. The postpartum care was just as impressive. For the first few weeks, Angela and her team came to our home to check our daughter's weight and vitals and make sure both mama and baby were happy and healthy. Angela also referred us to an excellent lactation consultant, who helped my wife increase her milk production, improve our daughter's latch, and ultimately facilitated treatment for our daughter's lip and tongue tie. We recently had our final postpartum appointment with Angela, and I can confidently say that Angela and her team at Glow Midwifery have been the most superb group of people we could have asked for at every stage of this journey. My wife and I have all but sworn fealty to Angela and Glow Midwifery for all of our future pregnancies (we are Catholic, so there will be many). I have rarely been this impressed by the level of care, comfort, and professionalism I've experienced in any area of my life--and never with something as sensitive and important as the birth of our first child. As I write this, my seven-week-old daughter is sound asleep on my sleeping wife's chest while NCIS plays in the background. I am a happy--no, an ELATED--father, grateful beyond words that I have a healthy wife and daughter sleeping peacefully in my home. I was absolutely thrilled to find Susie and her team at Aurora Birth Center. They're very experienced and have a well balanced approach to pregnancy and birth. I felt like I had a solid and knowledgeable group of friends I could call on 24 hours a day, if need be. As I got close to delivery, I started getting really excited. We had planned to have a water birth at the beautifully designed birth center; my husband and son were to be present. Plans changed, however, when Paisley arrived 12 minutes after we got there; not even enough time to think about running the water. It was still a lovely birth by candlelight, with mellow ladies helping me along, and my family present. My son got to cut his sister's umbilical cord; what better way to make him feel like a great big brother. Afterwards, I was served a delicious homemade meal (and amazingly sweet strawberries out of Susie's garden). The experience very much fit my definition of perfection. Susie is still my primary care provider, as well as the pediatrician for both of my kids. She takes care of all of our medical needs, from physicals to birth control. July 2012 I found out I was pregnant for the first time. Right after I had my first appointment with Susie I experienced a miscarriage around 11wks. She was there to talk to me on the phone and let me know what to expect. I was going to go to the ER and she told me my body would probably be able to do it on its own and if I went to the ER I might be given a D&C. Turns out I could do it on my own and she saved me from what I imagine would of been a very traumatic experience in the ER. A few months later in I found out I was pregnant again. I had a great experience with Susie so I went back. When I was pregnant with my daughter the plan was to have our baby in our home. Through out my pregnancy my blood pressure kept rising and I was very swollen. Sadly near the end I was diagnosed with preclampsia and Susie decided a hospital birth was going to be best for me. I was induced at 37weeks in May 2013. My daughter rushed out into the world in less than 4 hours later. The birth was quick but very intense. Susie was there by my side offering her support the whole time. I very much think Susie made the right choice and if we had our baby somewhere else I feel that mine or my daughters life would of been in danger. When my daughter was about 2 we decided we were going to try to have a 2nd child. I had two miscarriages in 2015 March and July. Both times I went to my first appointments and didn't hear the heart beat. Both miscarriages happened around 11wks. Susie and her staff were there for me once again answering my phone calls even one in the middle of the night. They gave me great advice and guided me through what could of been a really traumatic experience without the help. After these miscarriages Susie did lots of tests and blood work to see if we could find any answers. Everything came back normal so we still don't know for certain what it could of been. Susie helped me make some diet and lifestyle changes in hopes it would help. 2015 was not all bad because near the end of the year I found out I was pregnant again. I figured I would just have another miscarriage so I didn't even make an appointment until I was 12wks. I went in and we herd the heart beat! It was so special and Susie was genuinely happy and excited for us. Our goal for the birth of our son was to have it at the birthing center. Almost no swelling and my blood pressure slowly crept up through out my pregnancy. My blood pressure was ok enough to have him at the birthing center. August 2016 my water broke at 39wks at 6am while I was sleeping. In fear that my son was going to rush out of me like my daughter did I went to the birthing center at 9am. Throughout the laboring process Susie and her staff mostly let us be but offered advice and checked our vitals often. When he was ready to really make his appearance Susie and her staff were very encouraging and helped me get into a better position to ease him out of me. Around 1pm our son was born and everything in the world was perfect. Every experience I have had with Susie and everyone who has worked her has been a positive one. All my appointments have been very professional and the staff is very knowledgeable. I have never felt like a burden or tossed aside. In the 4 years I have been going here I have only had to wait a little longer twice for my appointment, because someone else was having a baby. The birthing center is beautiful and we felt like guests not patients. If you are interested in having a home birth or birthing center experience I would highly recommend.

Dr. Meigs was my PCP for 18 years prior to moving to Orchards Family Medicine. The staff here was…read morerude, arrogant, and ignored any request for antidepresent medications, refused to make an appointment, slandered me to my insurance pharmacy, and told Dr. Meigs lies about me. My medical records were FAX'd to the wrong number 3 times. When I was finally able to get the staff to verify the fax number and the clinic finally received the referral, the staff called the clinic and told them I no longer wanted to be seen. It took from Aug. 10th to Nov. 29th to be seen by a much needed doctor. The clinic has constantly denied any of this. I wouldn't trust them or Dr. Meigs with the time of day. I believe there are reasons for this clinic remaining an independent clinic. They have messed up my medical records so bad that I am having trouble finding a new PCP.

This one apparently only wants patients who don't have any major problems.

I then had to wait to schedule this until the injection was approved by Moda. Moda approved Efflexa, a certain brand, but this place doesn't have it. So I had to do the work to call Moda, and even the pharmacy where the injection comes from called me, before I got an approval letter for it. ROC said that they don't carry what was approved. What??????!!! Even Moda was confused. I'm just going to go to another orthopedic. I can't even call to talk to someone. Whoever replies to the texts lacks customer service. It has been about two weeks since I was there!! So Moda said to try someone else. Funny, they mentioned to me that ROC advertised Euflexxa. Tell your employees then. Sharon possesses a wealth of knowledge on all things pregnancy and birth, and was mentoring a wonderful student - Max - throughout the process, who we loved having on our birth team. Both my husband and I are mixed race, so it meant a lot to us to have a midwife of color - mixed race herself - who could bring that perspective. So much about pregnancy is calibrated for an average white person. After our 20 week ultrasound, we had a scare about the baby and my health. Vivante Midwifery blends the warmth of midwifery with rigorous safety standards and deep knowledge about physiologic birth. Because of my personal medical history, I needed to give birth at the hospital. I was still able to do all of my prenatal and postpartum care with Vivante. One of the midwives also accompanied me to the hospital and stayed to advocate for me throughout the entire birth. It made giving birth at the hospital much less stressful. I'm not sure I would have been able to achieve a vaginal birth without the advocacy of Vivante at the hospital. Vivante is composed of a diverse team of midwives.
