I was supposed to receive from Kelly the tax info so I could file my income taxes. This was supposed to be sent out at the end of January. Today is March 3, and nothing. While calling today I have gone through 8 prompts, over an hour on hold. I have been able to speak with two people who each gave me phone numbers to someone else. I am now on hold for 20 more minutes and counting waiting for person # 3 who will no doubt want me to call someone else and listen to guitar music. This is being written while waiting. Just got the absolute worst sub. First of all he cussed in front of my class and was extremely dry and disrespectful thinking and acting like they wernt evan there. His name, Mr. Mcbride. Please save your kids a favor and do not hire him. I would go into further detail, however that would be to much. I have been a sub for Kelly Services for years. I think that compared to the system before Kelly took over, Kelly Service rocks! I do not understand why anyone would write saying Kelly never called them, they are so understaffed that unless you are not qualified, they will keep you quite busy. I work any day I am free and desiring a job. I worked for the Polk County as a sub just before they began using Kelly Services, and on any given morning, I could wake up and choose any job from approximately 50 or more listed. Since Kelly took over there are rarely more than 10 jobs available on the day a sub is needed. My only two complaints are: 1) I am getting the same pay per day now as I did 9 years ago. (Not even a cost of living increase) 2) I am ok with being charged the first time for fingerprinting, but as the county only keeps the fingerprints for 5 years, the sub must pay to be re-fingerprinted at the end of the 5 years. I think that if a sub is willing to continue to accept assignments after the 5 year period, either Polk County, or Kelly should pay for the next round of fingerprints. I do not need to work, and out of protest, plan to resign this year when being notified it's time to pay my $83 to be fingerprinted again. This job pays poorly. I am earning less as a substitute teacher ($10 per hour, $11 if you actually get a planning period than I did 10 years ago as a Para in Illinois. Lastly, student behavior is amazing! It is a typical day to work with students who ignore, disrespect, or disobey the instructions given by the teacher. I have even been told to "F" myself by a middle school student. If substitutes were better supported by the schools' administrators (and some of them are) Kelly wouldn't have such a hard time keeping subs. read more

Not impressed. I was approved to be a sub but since I didn't have any teaching experience I would only be allowed to take para positions for my first 6 assignments and they would revisit allowing me to be a full fledged sub after that. These para positions were few and far between. What they didn't tell me is that these were essentially assistants for special needs kids, which I have zero experience with. After checking the website continually I never saw any of these positions post. After a couple of months they called and asked why I wasn't taking jobs and I let them know I never saw any post. They removed me from Polk county because I never took any jobs that I never saw. read more

Staff are always unpleasant over the phone. Please consider another means of employment. I love teaching children but I wish the school board hadn't outsourced hiring substitute teachers. read more

Kelly Services USED to be a good service for temporary services. It appears that they do not want anyone who knows what they are doing. They like puppets and young people who do not know any better. Personally, I was good in what I was doing as a substitute teacher and worked a lot for about seven months or so. You definitely have no recourse as to what an office worker, intern teacher, other teachers, or anyone for that matter may say concerning just about anything about you. Matt Tidwell, really did not really know what happened and allowed a Kelly employee to be disrespected and potentially destroy a reputation. You have no "say" in the matter really. If a certain school or schools do not want you, it does not mean that there are not other schools may actually praise your efforts. There is no feedback as to that acknowledgement. It appeared to me many times, that Kelly staff members were undermining my efforts to certain schools. I realized that when one particular school (special needs school) really needed the help, the office staff had to call Kelly to see if I could work. I had been there at that particular school many times. I saw regular employees not doing their jobs many times. I was struck a few times by students and not only at that school. As a substitute, I was good as I made the students "behave" themselves and sent them to the office if they did not follow the rules. It is my opinion, that Kelly staff should go out into the field and actually see what is going on from time to time. If you want a substitute with integrity, then do not corner the ones that can do a good job. Instead, you demean the good ones with "silly" stuff that have no credence with a job well done. Actually, Kelly Services, you pay little or nothing and your staff is less than to be desired in all the ones that I had any conversation during my service for the schools. I would have loved to talk to someone higher up than Matt to get my story told. As I am seasoned with "life," itself, I would fire any person in the Lakeland office and start over! I hope this helps anyone out there who is really centered in doing a good job. read more
