I have been seeing Dr. Stemmler at Wilmington Health for years. It's the best care of my life. Dr…read more Stemmler is a competent and caring doctor. He has a wonderful bedside manner. I have complete faith in his expertise and the Wilmington Health staff. The office staff and nurses have always been polite and professional. I have blood labs drawn twice a year, and Dr. Stemmler meticulously and expertly goes over my results. My wait time to see him is short, and my visits with him are nothing short of charming. I look forward to my semi-annual visits. I have also made several Zoom calls to my doctor scheduled through the virtual portal. Recently I got Covid and the visit and his care through Zoom couldn't have been simpler or more effective. I love this practice.

Their billing system is a NIGHTMARE. In my case, Wilmington Health did not honor the Explanation of Benefit Statements provided by my insurance. Do not pay them anything upfront if you have an PPO. I have seen numerous complaints on the BBB site. They keep the money. https://www.bbb.org/us/nc/wilmington/profile/medical-doctor/wilmington-health-0593-90013197/complaints When going to see a doctor in their facility, the front office receptionist demands an upfront payment - calling it a "copay." Yeah, a copay from PPO patients. I told her, my plan doesn't have copayments. She told me, "This is not Canada, and if you want free health care then move there." I was shocked. How RUDE some their receptionists can be. My medical insurance is certainly NOT free. I don't need any lip from their snooty low IQ receptionists when going there for care. No, thank you. I do have a coinsurance, but it is nowhere near what they demanded before allowing me to see a doctor at each visit. They apparently don't like patients that are in the PPO insurance network. They don't treat patients that have a choice to go else where very nicely. The snooty employees at Wilmington Health are crippling their employer by their less than professional attitudes and comments,. Even though, I really liked my doctor, I will not go back. I do not like having to pay more than my insurance contract allows them to bill me. Since Wilmington Health is a PPO with my insurance, that is all they are going to get. Take it from this (now) former patient of Wilmington Health, I recommend that you to save yourself the hassle of having to go through the nightmare of dealing with their smug and condescending billing agents. If you have a question about your bill, calling the billing office will only get you more frustrated. You will be told by them you owe it. Who needs that frustration? Not ONE person has been able to explain to me why their invoices do NOT match my EOBs. OMG! What a headache.

Along with asking for an MRI, I wanted to get certain blood work done to check for an autoimmune disorder since I am so young and have already herniated a disc in my back. I presented to Jamie Hamm as much info, evidence, facts as I could provide for her. I let her know I had numbness running down my entire leg, that my leg is colder than the other, and that I was suggested to come see my PCP by my chiropractor. Jamie Hamm did not listen to me whatsoever and proceeded to say that my leg issues is caused by something with my muscle. I was able to get her to schedule an x-ray but was given some b.s. excuse that I should go to physical therapy before getting an MRI. The very next day I was admitted to the emergency room and FINALLY received an MRI and found that I had TWO ruptured discs in my lower back and on Saturday, April 22nd I had emergency surgery to fix my back. I will NEVER see Jamie Hamm again and I will NEVER recommend her services to anyone! I am beyond angry with how I was treated by her! When a 23yo comes to you saying they need help and that they hurt, as a medical professional, you should listen. She is cold hearted and honestly should no longer practice. I would hate to see how she treats someone that isn't able to advocate for themself.
