They seem nice enough but the "appointment" system is worthless. if you make an appointment for 10am, and 20 walk-ins arrive between 9 and 10, you go behind the walk-ins. So I'm not sure why they even take appointments. 2 examples: once, we had a 9:15 appointment and weren't called in until 11:11. A second time We had a 10:15 appt and got in at 12:30. Horrible not one but two experiences. Went in for an ear ache, they dug around in my ear causing more irritation. They tried multiple times to prescribe medication that I told them multiple times I was allergic to. The next day after I went for my second visit I ended up in the Emergency Department with my ear canal completely swollen shut and in severe pain. It took 2 weeks for it to go away. The ED doctor stated that the cause was a direct effect of what was done at this urgent care! read more

I came here with a stomach bug and they ran bloodwork and told me my white blood cell count was high and recommended that I immediately go to the er for more tests and that something else was going on with me because of those counts. All my other bloodwork was fine but they continued to urge me to go. I ended up getting into a primary care and they told me I was fine and that my white blood cell count was high due to the stomach bug. months later I'm perfectly fine! would not recommend this place to anyone!! waste of time and money and would have been even more of a waste to spend the money to go to the er! read more

Wow this place is SOOOO disorganized. I went in on a Thursday for a possible infection. They took a urine sample and said they would call me for results. Friday evening they called and said they "lost" my urine sample and asked if I could come in again and give another sample. Also I was in town on vacation, just got into town Thursday. I came in first thing Saturday morning and gave another sample. Didn't hear from them Monday. Tuesday they call me first thing asking me to come in and give a urine sample....they "lost" it again. WTH. How do you "lose" two urine samples with someone's name on them? So disorganized. Please go somewhere else. Who knows what else that "lose" or mess up. Seems super sketchy to me. read more

Daughters moved down a few months ago. Had a significant medical issue last week. Still haven't identified a local primary care. Went to Masonboro because it is close and appeared to have a regular office too. Found out the Masonboro Family Medicine is unrelated and this location is labeled Urgent Care because they do walk in's and have extended hours. They are also primary care - Doctor, PA and NP. We are so happy. They are doing great working through the Covid precautions but got my sick daughter in the day I called. Onsite they gave her IV for dehydration and follow up care a few days later. We will definitely be scheduling their annual physicals. Don't judge the strip mall location...from the nurses, doctor, PA and NP, everyone was wonderful and caring! The dude taking calls at the front desk seems a bit stretched but I'm sure COVID has made his job harder than ever. Hang in there! read more

Being new to the area it felt like a bit of a crapshoot deciding which urgent center to go to so I started checking reviews. Masonboro Urgent Care came up on top in multiple reviews so I decided to check it out. It's located in a strip center and is very low key from a curb appeal vantage point - but I found that to be of little consequence. I was immediately greeted once I got in the door and after providing some identification, was handed an iPad to complete the registration. Within a minute of handing the iPad in, I was taken in for vitals and quickly placed in an exam room. Dr. Worriax showed up within a minute or two and quickly diagnosed my issue. He explained the planned treatment clearly, answered my questions, got a copy of my Rx after sending it to my pharmacy and sent me on my way. The staff is efficient, friendly and professional and the experience was as good as it can get - especially in the world of urgent care! Highly recommend! read more

I went down to the beach for a day trip today and ended up getting stung by a stingray in the foot. The lifeguards on the beach recommended I go to this place and I cannot thank them enough. All of the ladies took AMAZING care of me and listened and answered any questions/concerns I had. This is probably the absolute best care I have ever received. They made sure I was comfortable the entire time all while telling me how well I was handling it. They did everything right and were very kind. They closed at 4 and continued to care for me and make sure I was comfortable even 20 minutes after closing. I would like to thank you guys for the amazing care. I'm a long time patient (10 years). They are always top notch. I can't say enough great things about this practice. Dr Meyer, his wife Trish, Dr Worriax, and their PA affectionately referred to as Mac are all great. They have helped diagnose my son as type 1 diabetic and found a cancerous tumor in my chest. Going to this Urgent Care was the worst experience I've ever had at a medical facility in my life. I was told at 7:30PM I was first in line. My only goal was to get a rapid COVID test so I could see my family. I filled out my paperwork and proceeded to wait an hour. I called again and was told to pull back around. They then tried to charge me $185 for the COVID test. After another 30 minutes I called to tell them I was leaving, and at that point found out it was still going to be 30 minutes until I was seen. When I told them I hoped I didn't give anyone COVID due to my inability to get a test, they said "Thank you bye! Stay safe!" Truly the lack of professionalism and kindness was appalling. This care facility needs to learn how to triage. A COVID test takes 5 minutes.... there was no reason I waited 1.5 hours for absolutely nothing. read more

If you are looking to get seen on a Sunday, ha. People that were working were more interested in leaving at 4 o'clock rather than having seen someone to get a foot x-rayed at 12:45. With 4 cars total in the parking lot including those in front of the gas station, I had called twice, first time was told no availability, called a second time to ask if someone cancelled could we put our name down and the employee told me that they were actually over booked... crazy how within 2 minutes you are overbooked when asked to put my name down if someone cancelled. This place is usually one of the better places to go, BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT WHEN CERTAIN PEOPLE ARE WORKING AND THEY WOULD RATHER GO HOME THAN DEAL WITH PEOPLE THAT NEED HELP!! Will absolutely go other places before I visit this place again, and I hope this helps people trying to look for a place to go. The Medac on Shipyard Blvd is where we ended up with no issues. Got an appointment at medac in the parking lot of the urgent care for 1:40 and was back in a room before 1:20. I really recommend you do not give these people your business and go to a place that actually seems like they care! I have been having incredible pain in my chest, a fever, and trouble breathing for a couple of days, so I decided to see them. When I went in, I filled out the paperwork and submitted my health insurance information. I even checked to see if they accepted my insurance beforehand online. The receptionist told me that my insurance was "inactive," which is hard to believe because I had just paid my insurance bill. Being not really in my left or right mind, I walked out, crying hysterically. I guess my brain wasn't functioning on a higher level because of the oxygen deprivation. I drove home, and then my boyfriend called them and asked if I could be seen, and they said yes. Why didn't they tell me that when I was there? So I drove myself back and finally saw someone, still in tears from the excess emotional stress that probably wasn't warranted but I sure felt bad. They brought me in and took a blood sample and a chest x-ray. From my blood sample, they found that I had an upper respiratory bacterial infection in my lungs. (It makes sense why I was having a fever and splitting headaches, like death-defying). The doctor told me that she was going to prescribe me antibiotics and a steroid for 10 days and that would be sent electronically to the local pharmacy. So, I left to go home and called the pharmacy to check in about my prescription. The pharmacy told me that the prescription had been sent back to the Urgent Care as hard copies. So I went back to Urgent Care for the THIRD time, and asked them where my hard copies were. They proceeded to tell me that they weren't going to give me my prescriptions unless I paid something that day. Sadly, I had nothing in my pockets at the time to pay (work slowed down for me significantly and I had to cancel some job interviews a couple days ago because of my current condition). Basically, they ridiculed me because I was in a financial gutter. So they bullied me and said things like, "you don't pay for your groceries at the grocery store?" I said, "so you're just not going to give me a prescription and let me die if this infection gets worse?" They gave me lots of attitude in response and weren't going to give me my prescription until I paid something, and then I finally was able to contact my mom who paid $50 on her credit card to help me out. They finally gave me the prescription with lots of rudeness and reluctance. I left the Urgent Care crying, feeling like I was a criminal or something. Not being able to breathe, plus their lack of compassion, just had me feeling abused. The emotional stress that put on me was unreal. Not only being down because of my financial situation, but this on top of it, was awful. I went to the pharmacy and submitted my prescription. At the pharmacy, they asked, "do you have another insurance card?" Looking in my wallet, I realized I gave Urgent Care the wrong insurance card before (an older BCBS one from Covered California). Then I really felt stupid, and had to go through all that trouble even though I was able to covered the entire time. They could have looked me up in the system or something to prevent all of this. This is just a story about how horrible doctors and medical practices can be to people. I just want the world to know that it's not ETHICAL to deny a patient, in a serious medical condition, a prescription to help them feel better. They were basically leveraging my prescription until I could pay them something. Anyway, it's over, and I got my prescription. But these people are awful (particularly the receptionist, Gary Craulik, and Dr. Farmer) and showed no compassion in a field where compassion is paramount. read more

These guys are GREAT! We were out of area and my wife and I went in for some tests that she needed. We were greeted promptly and we spoke with a nurse about our needs. Anthony Gore (PA-C) promptly attended our initial needs and later saw us in the examining room. These guys were absolutely fantastic. Anthony met with us for an extended time and listened and reflected with what we felt to be some great input. I could not have imagined a better physician experience. I used to like this urgent care until now. I arrived at 5:15pm on a Tuesday I called from the front of the building as the sign said to do. I was told a 48 minute wait. Ok cool I'll do that. Then they added another 30 minutes then another 30 minutes then more time. I was finally seen in the tent out back and was basically told I needed a covid test. Ok so I did that and was told it would be 15 minutes to get the results. This was at 8pm. So I waited the 15 minutes then two of the workers (one of them being the one that gave me the test) came out to smoke instead of doing their jobs. They went back inside and I said to myself that someone would be out. But nooooooooo I had to call inside just to learn that the doctor was with someone else. Unacceptable. I told them I had been waiting for 3 hours and I had to be somewhere so I left. Then I get a call about the covid test that I really didn't want to begin with. I told them I really didn't care at this point and hung up. If they are so worried about covid then they shouldn't be seeing anyone. read more

My wait time was minimal compared to experiences with urgent cares I've visited in the past. The staff was friendly and compassionate and the doctor was friendly and funny. He made jokes to help me feel a little better while I was there dealing with a migraine headache. The people at the Masonboro urgent care were incredibly helpful, kind, and quick. After a bike crash while on vacation, I had severe road rash on my shoulder and was worried about broken bones and concussion. A few xrays later and a good wound dressing with education on how to care for myself and I was on my way. I even went back for a follow up a few days later and dealt with a different doctor and nurse who were equally pleasant. I highly recommend this clinic. read more

I can not say enough about Masonboro Urgent Care. My daughter is a UNCW student and became very ill. I read their reviews and passed 2 other urgent cares just to go see them. They took such great care of us from check in, the nurses and Doctor Meyer. He was very thorough and listened to us. I had to take her back 2 days later because she was still not feeling well. They got us into a specialists office within 30 min. I would recommend this for UNCW students because if they do get sick with no parent there you can rest assured your child is in great hands.
