The staff informed me that my first visit would be an initial screening and consult with the dentist. After informing them of my predicament, they were able to schedule an additional appointment the same day as my initial consult! The staff was extremely friendly and there was little to no wait time from when I checked into the office. The dental hygienist did a great job removing the tea stains from my teeth. Great experience, which is not a common thing to say for a dental office!

The only complaint I ever had previously was that I had a filling that felt strange after the fact (the feeling eventually went away), and I know another patient at this dentist who had a similar experience. However, I had an issue with my upcoming appointment which is impossible to overlook. I usually receive a confirmation email before my appointment, but this time I did not. The day before the appointment, I called to check that everything was ok. They told me that my appointment was still scheduled and they hadn't been in touch because they somehow had an incorrect phone number on file. However, they also told me that they didn't have a dentist in the office on Fridays, and would only be able to do the cleaning and not the exam. I asked to reschedule to a time when a dentist would be available, and was told that it would not be until October. This was unacceptable as it is important to have an exam every 6 months. I also asked why I was never contacted about this, and why I was able to make an appointment if no dentist would be available. I was told that the Friday dentist had resigned in March, which should have given them a full three months to contact me or find a dentist who could cover the appointment. I was also told that they had stopped using their third party email service to contact patients for confirmations. When I eventually was passed off to the office manager, she only made excuses and spent a long time talking about their response to Covid-19, but she was not willing to answer any of my questions. Unfortunately, they have lost my business and I will be looking for a new dentist.

Surprisingly no wait time and was greeted at the door to sanitize my hands and get my temperature taken. Inside, the place is bright and spot on very clean. Looked updated and modern compared to my prior. The staff were professional and very friendly. Turned my fear into comfort. Dr. Lanzilotti was informative and I was at ease to hear that my teeth and gums were nice and healthy. Did a quick clean and I was out the door. Confident to return as a routine.

Thank heavens for Dr. Erin Cox at Main Street Dental and the friend who recommended her. She called my mom back on her cell phone on the weekend, got her in for an emergency visit the next morning at 7:30am, and gave my mom enough help that my mom could wait until she returned home for her root canal (lucky Mom!). My husband and I then went to Main Street Dental for the rest of the 3.5 years we lived in Newark. The entire staff is very friendly, and Wendy the hygenist is terrific. Unfortunately for me, I somehow always ended up with substitute hygenists, so I didn't get to have Wendy clean my teeth until my very last visit, which was too bad, because she's great, and the subs weren't all quite so gentle--plus, it's really disconcerting to always end up with a new hygenist every time you come in (at least, it was for me). Dr. Erin does a great job cleaning and will clean your teeth if you request it. She did fill a few of my teeth, which was new--I hadn't had any fillings before going to her. But I felt she did a good job.

A large function of my job is practicing discretion which, more times than not, means extending grace to others; people are human after all. Something I always keep in mind when addressing a patron is that I have no idea what might be going on in their life...Unfortunately, I cannot say this office extends the same kind of grace to their patients. Most people wouldn't want to receive multiple fillings on their birthday, however, I did because that is what the office had available; no problem at all. It was not the most pleasant experience, but what filling is, as it left me with a substantial amount soreness (to be expected). I was experiencing enough soreness that performing a teeth cleaning less than 24-hours later was no longer ideal so, in addition to a work conflict, I had to reschedule the teeth cleaning to a later date. Unbeknownst to me, that reschedule was now being held against me; according to the receptionist, the reschedule meant I now have a, "history." The day of my rescheduled appointment arrives and to my surprise, life has thrown me a wrench and I'm now running late. As a courtesy and out of respect, I contact the office to let them know I am running late (reasoning not important) and this is when I learn I have a "history" and therefore can no longer see any of the dentist in the Kirkwood group. It did not matter that I apologized, it did not matter why I had to cancel the first time, it did not matter that I was Not cancelling this time, it did not matter that I had to leave work to care for my dog because no one else could and therefore accepted the consequences of being 20 minutes late- it did not matter that I was a human being having a human-"Life"-moment; none of this mattered to the receptionist who plainly let me know that it is the "discretion of the office to no longer accept me as a patient." While disappointed the office chose to be rigid, I accept my consequences and will find another dentist. It's likely for the best as I am not a big fan of robots. If you are looking for an office where the staff are human beings capable of grace and compassion, you're in the wrong place. Never forget, "Rules are rules" has killed millions of people. Humanity is greater.
