If zero stars were available, I would give her zero. First, I am retired on social security. My daughter gave us a gift certificate for photographs which we've wanted for years. Because of our illnesses and Ms. Wendt's pregnancy during which she refused to do business, we were unable to use the certificate within Ms. Wendt's arbitrary one year expiration, which we were unaware of. The certificate included a 40 minute session, 15 digital images, online gallery and print release. Nothing on the certificate (copies on request) indicated a one year expiration. I went to her website, filled out a form and asked for an appointment: no response. I phoned her office and left a message, no response. I called again 2 weeks later and Ms. Wendt refused to schedule our photos or return our money. Ms. Wendt will no doubt reply below how she tried and tried to contact us, etc. etc. etc. You can accept her excuses or accept my story above and agree not to do business with someone who stiffs seniors. Don't get me wrong, Kelly is a good photographer, but if you want a photographer that communicates well and gets back with you in a decent timeframe, I would not advise calling to book. Kelly's customer service is not up to standard. I feel that has changed over the course of years (we were clients for years). Most recent, we had to reschedule our session due to the rain on 10/22/15 When she emailed the day before (about the weather and the possibility of rain and cancellation). The shoot was scheduled in the evening so mid day when the clouds opened up and the rain stopped falling and the sun came out, I emailed Kelly around 1pm 10/22 asking what the plan was. Silence. I emailed again asking if we were still on. Still no reply. An hour before the shoot, I had to just email and assume that the shoot was not on. I have three year old twins and an 8 month old so it was very stressful. Then, due to all the flooding of late, our next reschedule date of 11/2 had to be cancelled as well. Since we did not have a contract, and we had intentions of booking in a few months... we thought it best to just call off the photo shoot (who knows when the sopping mess would clear up and dry and we are still (as I write) getting rainfall daily). With very little children, you think a photographer (or anyone for that matter) would understand. No, not at all! Kelly stated that she would not refund us the whole amount we had paid for (with this particular photo shoot), as if the flooding and rain were all our fault? She even tried to say we paid less than what we actually paid and I had to go in my email to 'remind' her that we indeed paid more. She stated that because we prepaid for her 'special' back in February, that she would not refund our entire payment. So she was penalizing us for prepaying? Further, she had her own Wedding in May/June AND we prepaid for ANOTHER bluebonnet photo shoot so we all agreed the Fall would be best for this photo shoot I am reviewing on. Kelly was extremely rude with her texts and not understanding at all, then later said that maybe her moodiness is to blame due to her pregnancy. Finding out she was pregnant right then and there explained a lot, as I sensed she was going through something in her life. But wow, don't take your anger out on long time clients who have raved about you with glowing reviews on social media, yelp, and google! She also threw in our face that it's all about money. No, actually, it is about principle. And if it were all about money, we would have demanded for a refund from our last bluebonnet photo session (done was right before her own personal wedding) as the photos did not even look print worthy so we actually printed none. I am 100% sure she knew what she was sending us but didn't really care due to her haste and upcoming Wedding. Maybe it was best she not book many, many sessions right before her Wedding if it meant the end result was bad images. But no, we didn't even say anything about that session because we didn't want to hurt her feelings. All these things that transpired is why I am editing my once glowing review on Kelly. If she would have apologized I may have just left it and walked away but she needs to work on her poor communication 'skills' and even poorer client relationship mentality/etiquette (or lack thereof). Oh, and she did finally refund our amount as I am sure deep down she knew it was only fair. What a headache. Completely unnecessary. read more

Kelly met my family and I at a secluded beach in the South Haven Michigan area this summer and did a photo shoot for us. She made it so much fun and was able to capture many pictures of us just being us and enjoying our time together as a family. She took all the dread out of the usual "smile and say cheese" type of family photo shoot. Thanks Kelly, we love the pics and will cherish them for years to come and we have had so many compliments on them. You are wonderful and a natural at what you do. read more

I scheduled my family session with her about 2 months out, and a few days before the shoot she says she had to reschedule due to a death in her husbands family. I completely understood (figuring she had to go to the funeral) but it turns out only her husband was going out of town and she just didn't want to find a sitter for her kid. I didn't really have any days that we could reschedule because my husband and I both work and we only had weekends, and had already made other plans. We tried to figure it out and when I told her we couldn't do a shoot in the middle of a work day, she didn't even have the courtesy to respond. Very rude and unprofessional. She didn't give me my money back (even though she cancelled on us). Never doing business with her again. Very flakey and rude. read more

Kelly is an amazing photographer. She first did photos of my 16 year old son and absolutely put him at ease. She was candid and out-going. The shots were amazing, she really captured what ordinary school pictures just could not. We were so pleased that a month later we booked her again to shoot our family photos and this time we had our dogs, all three of them! Kelly met this challenge head on. She was calm and professional, but still the Kelly we knew and loved. She brought a squeaker toy to keep their attention on the camera instead of bystanders, which we had not thought of and the photos turned out amazing. Neither my son's, nor our family session was your run of the mill sit and say cheese 'picture taking' experience. It was fun, Kelly had us laughing and we can really say that she captured who we are as a family. We will not be booking any other photographer, Kelly is the best! read more

I booked a session with Kelly to take family pictures before my husband's deployment. The session itself seemed to go okay though seemed a bit rushed with poses. I had let her know the most important thing to us was to get a good family portrait and ones of the kids and their dad individually and as a group. Sadly, when I got the link to view my pictures I ended up disappointed and crying instead of thrilled. The photos were blurry, off colored (skin tones were so orange they did not look realistic at all), highlights were blown, composition was off on some, basic blemish edits were not done, and poses that were important to us were not included. I contacted her and was shocked that her response to an unsatisfied customer was not to try and make things better but to blame my family for not cooperating. My son didn't smile, and while his expression is not her fault, the fact that we are not in focus and looks orange is. After attempting to get resolution with her and realizing she was not going to do anything to help (getting angry and saying that I knew her style before hiring her yet the photos of my family do not look like the style nor quality she has posted on her website) I finally broke down and downloaded the photos so in case I can't get into another photographer before deployment (which I have another session booked thankfully now). The downloaded images show the horrible quality of the images and I was able to see what settings she shot with, for anyone that knows anything about digital photography she was shooing f1.8 the whole time for a family of 5, with shutter speeds ranging from about 1/200 (barely any at this rate) to 1/60. So only a small tiny portion would have been in focus and she would have camera shake making the photos blurry, so I know that no matter what we looked like we would not have been in focus. Yet she blames us for her mistakes. She has refused to help and will not give me a refund for our session so I am going to be paying another photographer and still have to pay for the images from Kelly that I can't print because they are horrible. Also when she found out that I do have knowledge on photography instead of addressing the issues she wanted to know why I didn't take the pictures myself. She never once addressed the problems only defended "her style" which I guess is off colored and out of focus. Terrible service and worse customer service. read more

Kelly was fantastic with my kids, talking with them and engaging them, thus putting them at ease very quickly. Our whole session was very relaxed.
