BEWARE! Do NOT use this facility!!!!!! Here is what happened to us…read more..... On the evening of March 12, 2011 around 9pm, I transported my 6 year old son to the Healthtone Express Care Clinic located at 6002 Fairmont Parkway Pasadena, Texas, 77505-4037, 713-359-2100. He was crying and complaining that his ear was hurting very badly. Upon arriving at the clinic, I advised the receptionist that my son's ear was hurting and that he possibly had an ear infection. I further advised her that he was not running a fever but that I had Strep throat two weeks earlier and he was exposed to the Strep. I requested someone to give him some ear drops to stop the pain. I was advised that someone would be right with us. We were placed into an exam room where we waited over two hours all the while my six year old was crying and asking me to make the hurt go away. A nurse entered the room and took his vitals and later swabbed his throat for the Strep test. I asked for ear drops once again and the nurse said we would have to wait for the doctor. When the doctor finally came in to see him she looked into his ear and confirmed he had an ear infection she also stated that he tested positive for Strep throat. The doctor then left the room. A short while later a receptionist came in and advised that my son's condition was not life threatening and we had an option of having him treated or we could wait until Monday morning (which meant him suffering for about another 30 plus hours) and take him to our family doctor. I asked if they were kidding, they let him sit and cry for over two hours then they want to send us home without treating him. I obviously elected for the treatment. A short while later a nurse came in and placed eight (8) drops of Antipyrine-Benzocaine into his infected ear, then advised the doctor would be back in a few minutes. My son stopped crying after a few minutes stating his ear feels better. The doctor came back into the room and re-stated that he had Strep throat and that she was prescribing some antibiotics and some ear drops for the pain. I asked if we could just have the rest of the small bottle they just opened and used on him and she stated she was prescribing the same medicine but it was against policy for her to give us the remaining drops. The nurse then reached over and deposited the rest of the drops into the sharps container. We exited the clinic after approximately three hours. Next we went to the 24 hr. Pharmacy and filled the prescriptions. One of the prescriptions was Antipyrine-Benzocaine 10ML which cost $10.00 at CVS Pharmacy. I received my bill from Bayshore Medical Center and was confronted with some of the most ridiculous charges I have ever seen. My insurance company was billed $2,771.00 of which they paid $1,373.00. I was billed $160.00 for eight drops of Antipyrine-Benzocaine which comes out to $ 20.00 dollars a drop. Two Strep tests A and B were performed from the Q-tip swabs they took from son's throat; $1,263.00,( I spoke to the nurse at my personal Physician's office she advised that these tests are performed with test packets they purchase for about $50.00 per packet which is what they used on my Q-tip two weeks earlier. My Doctor's office also advised that the test takes all of about five minutes to perform.) That comes to $1,213.00 profit for ten minutes of work. The next item on the itemized bill was "1EMER Dept. Level 3" $1,345.00. We were at "Healthtone Express Care Fairmont" not at a hospital level 3 Emergency room. If you look closely on the attached itemized bill on the top of each page it shows the location of treatment is "Bayshore Medical Center 4000 Spencer Highway" not 6002 Fairmont Parkway Pasadena, Texas, which is where we went. This looks like a clear case of insurance fraud to me. It took three hours (2.75 hours of waiting) to treat a six year olds ear ach with eight drops of medicine and they charged $2,771.00. This did not even include the Doctor's fee which is another $275.00. I have sent written requests to several of their addresses including their CEO JEFF HOLLAND asking for an explanation of why the charges are so high. No one will talk to me. On the phone they tell me to just pay the bill. Now they have turned the remainder of my bill over to their in-house collection division: National Patient Account Services. Please pass the word..... DO NOT use this facility they are thieves!!!!!!

Rude Rude Rude! I had a spider bite and had went to a CVS minute clinic this morning and was told…read morethat I would need to go to the emergency room to have it treated. I showed up and the male nurse in Triage asked why I was there. I told him that I had a spider bite and he cut me off in mid sentence and said "it's not a spider bite" Without even looking at it. Then I told him that I went to the clinic this morning and they said that they couldn't treat me there and they sent me here. To which he said "What? They couldn't write you a prescription? I guess our prescriptions are so much better here." Really guy? I have a sense of humor and he wasn't saying it jokingly. Take it up with CVS not me! I have friends that have been to this location as well and they have been met with the same attitude. Rude!
