Horrible owner, comes out to confront a family that waited for an hour without getting any food, Father went to ask the manager if there was a problem with the order and the food came out at that time. Family sat and started to eat when the owner came out. we thought he was going to apologize but instead confronted the family, telling them that the order just took 24 minutes so why were they complaining. The father answered that they were there an hour ago and made the order right after seating down. THE OWNER AKSED IF WHAT THEY WANTED WAS TO GET A DISCOUNT. He asked them how much discount they wanted, the father replied he just wanted to get his food faster than an hour. The owner didn't offer a discount but instead kept asking them how much of a discount they wanted. He said " I HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE IT HAPPEN " the wife then said ok, 25% is fair and the owner left. Minutes later the waiter came back SOBBING to make a water refill In 50 years I have never seen such disrespect from the owner to the customers. I feel sorry for for the waiter that came out crying. If the owner treats a customer family like that, how does he treat the employees Whta a terrible experience. Dont support a business owned by a person like that. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! read more

Went for lunch with coworkers on a Thursday (wing day) half price yeah . Got 2lbs and it was filling and tasty . Service was top shelf and fast. I had an early lunch today at Kelsey's in Guelph. I hadn't had breakfast so was really really hungry when I got there. I sat on the bar side where it was livelier I hadn't had Chicken Fried Chicken in a while so that's what I ordered. I swapped my veggies for extra mashed potatoes. The potatoes tasted "real" ... not powdered ... and were good. The chicken wasn't processed and was tender. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the coating wasn't hard and crunchy but soft. I'd get this again. I was still hungry so ordered Funnel Cake Fries with chocolate sauce. I'd never had them before and was intrigued. They were good and not too heavy. Thanh was my server. Owner/Manager very Abusive to staff A few friends went to Kelseys Sat. night. The food was ok, service staff was amazing. We sat in the bar area and all we could hear was the owner (we were told) an older man, screaming and yelling at the servers in the kitchen. I still may call the Better Business Bureau, that was how bad it was. This man should not have a business with employees! The abusive things he was yelling at these kids was disgusting. He would yell than 5 minutes later come out with a phoney smile on his face and sit at the bar ordering up drinks. After a few drinks go back into the kitchen to do the same. Unacceptable!! I am very surprised these employees stick around in such an abusive environment. I was talking to friends today and they said this has been going on for years at this restaurant. We really had a very bad experience at Kelsey's tonight. We went with our kids for the dinner. Their BOGO offer is a big scam. Even after asking about the offer while placing the order, the server didn't mention the wings are not included in the offer. Just giving an apology saying that I was not aware about what is included in the offer and educating us at the time of making payment won't help. Those wings were tasting dry and kind of rotten. When we complained about that, she told next time she can compensate, if she is there. Who will go there next time to eat the same rotten food? If we or our kids get any stomach issues...we are not going to spare you! I wish I could give zero stars for this rude service and rotten food served. I am apprehensive about writing this review because I really love Kelsey's in general. It is one of my absolute favourite places. But, we ordered food last night and I was so upset! I ordered a kids meal and they didn't include the juice OR the cookie in the delivery bag! I also ordered a side cesar salad and it had a few really gross pieces of lettuce in it. My partner got the peppercorn Swiss burger and enjoyed it very much. Super disappointed that they forgot the juice and cookie, and that the lettuce was so icky!!! read more

As I entered the restaurant, a group of guests that happened to be leaving warned me about the high volume of patrons currently dining at this location and suggested that I go somewhere else. I decided to disregard their unsolicited advice and take my chances. Me and my guest were greeted immediately by a friendly staff member and seated in a comfortable booth of our choosing. Our drink orders were taken promptly and arrived before we had looked over the extensive menu. I was impressed by the selection of popular favourites and locally brewed beers on the beverage menu, as well as the elaborate cocktail choices, which were served in impressive portions. The entrées themselves were of excellent quality, as you would expect from an established, moderately priced restaurant and did not keep us waiting long. Considering the extremely busy setting I was impressed that the wait staff were able to remain attentive and efficient. In addition to the polite and energetic staff, the interior of this particular Kelseys location is clean, well lit and tastefully decorated. A comfortable atmosphere appropriate for family dining, larger groups, or a more intimate dinner setting, depending on the time of day. I am fortunate as to have ignored the advice of strangers encouraging me to pass on this establishment, as my dining experience exceeded my initial expectations. read more

So we have had some really good food and drinks at Kelseys Woodlawn. the service and servers have always been great. Tonight was another story, we sat on the bar side, ordered our drinks, I had to ask twice for a glass. Then ordered our appetizers and a few minutes later our mains we waited...waited....waited, finally I asked our server if there was a problem with our appetizers, she checked and said oh I am sorry I ordered the next tables apps on your table as she is telling us this our mains arrived, she asked if we still wanted the apps, one of us said yes. We then asked for cutlery and napkins, we waited...waited ..waited, finally asked another server for cutlery and napkins. Cutlery was delivered still no napkins. We could finally get down to eating my food was barely luke warm, my daughters fries were stone cold , one of the four meals was acceptable. Saphia the manager took my meal off the bill and we were comped the one appetizer that was delivered late. The server seemed very detached not really aware of her customers needs although she was apologetic about the screw up. This place definitely did not meet my expectations from other Kelsey's locations. I order the Burger 101 but downsized to one patty as I wasn't that hungry. The pretzel bun was unbelievable stale and hurts to chew it. When I asked the waitress for it, she confirmed with the kitchen that t was because it was toasted, which was not true. Nonetheless, I received another burger. My date finished his meal before mine as I had to wait for a new bun. As my date chattered away, the waitress came by to clear the plates before I finished half my burger! I didn't say anything as my date asked for the bill and said we were ready to go. Partly not her fault but she didn't grasp the social cue that I was still chewing and eating. When the bill came, my date paid without looking at the bill. The waitress handed him the machine and walked away. I took a look at the bill and noticed she charged my meal the price of Burger 101 (12.99) and not the downsized price (9.99). Very small mistake but he already paid and the waitress was no where to be found so we didn't get a chance to bring it up. read more

Where do I start... A few months ago I had a terrible experience coming in with my friend and her child. -long wait at the door due to being ignored by servers and hosts -long wait for a drink and food order -excessive wait for food when order was taken -server rushing us out in order to accommodate other tables -server disappearing for a while to "work on things in the back" -manager wasn't present -wrote a review and a manger offered to cover the same amount spent on food the night of terrible service for a second chance This was very promising because the manager reassured myself and my friend that the service was due to the server being fairly new. The manager also seemed very accomodating so we came back to give the restaurant a second chance. Tonight my friend and I decided to give Kelsey's Guelph that chance -we were sat in a timely manner - the server informed us of the specials -we ordered our food very quickly as we were both very hungry -the food took 30 minutes as the server kept apologizing for the long wait, I asked how much longer which is when she finally went to check on the food -the food ordered consisted of pasta and a spinach dip, both take under 15 minutes to make -the server said the food took longer because another table of 15+ people took priority, there were only two other tables dining at that time -when I took a bite of my pasta I realized it was cold, the chicken was cold, the noodles seemed as if they had been once warmed but sat in the back for a while -we notified the server and asked that our food either be reheated or remade -the server got the food remade -the food came out without the Gouda cheese that was on the first one, and was one of the ingredients on the menu for that dish -we asked for Parmesan on the side which should be a given when ordering a pasta dish -the server sent a manager who happened to be the owner after we had partially finished our meal. However we didn't ask for a manger considering the meal was up to Kelsey's mediocre standards -when the owner nuru khamis arrived, he approached our table with aggression while interrupting our conversation He said " what do you guys need, I was told you needed me" My response was that I hadn't asked for anyone but this was how our service had been all night. The owner proceeded to interrupt by saying, "I don't care about the food, I care about your service". Is the food not included in our service? I asked him to stop pointing his fingers at me as I have a one year old beside me getting upset due to the obvious aggression coming from this man. I began to explain the remaining of the story when he told the child and my friend to shut up as he could only hear one person at a time. He then proceeded to shout at the server from the other side of the restaurant causing attention to our table, "who is serving this table". I asked him to stop as we did not want to be the centre of attention and he was making the situation uncomfortable. I asked the manager to be professional and speak to the server when we had left. I told him the conversation was being recorded when he mentioned that he didn't care and that head office wouldn't "touch him". He told me I was lying about the amount of time it took for our food to be made and told my friend and I never to come back. Then while we called head office considering our meals that we were paying for were still not finished, we had no intentions of leaving. The server came back with the bill a few minutes later saying that Nuru sent her to bring the bill notifying her that we needed to leave. I let her know that we were not done and we were finishing our meals. The owner ensured our service would be terrible and that we wouldn't enjoy our time there. This is not the way costumer service should be and this not how a manager should speak to staff or guests. Do yourself a favour and steer clear, there are many other restaurants to go to in guelph. read more
