My family and I have been coming to Kemah Boardwalk for over 20 years, and it is so special that I now get to bring my own kids here to experience the magic and create core memories of their own! We had such an incredible day from start to finish. We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., where the staff was amazing and the food was delicious. Then we took our 8- and 9-year-olds and their friends to the Aquarium for the stingray experience, which was easily one of the highlights of the day. They absolutely loved it! We also rode the boat and had a blast--the crew was so fun, energetic, and engaging. We finished the day riding all of the rides, many of them multiple times, and the kids could not have been happier. Kemah Boardwalk has been part of so many memories for our family over the years, and getting to experience it now through our kids' eyes makes it even more special. I first visited the Kemah Boardwalk years ago when my daughter was little, and it is still a fun place to visit. What started out as a quiet working-class fishing village decades ago is now a massive waterfront destination packed with restaurants, midway games, and amusement rides. You can easily spend the whole day checking out the different eateries, feeding the animals at the Stingray Reef, and riding the Boardwalk Bullet wooden roller coaster. I'm old enough to remember when Kemah was just a sleepy, small fishing town caught (no pun intended) between Harris and Galveston counties. And then, sometime near the turn of the century, the Kemah Boardwalk changed all that. Out-of-town visitors by the -- give or take -- tens of thousands pay a visit every spring and summer, making Kemah a necessary item on any Houston travel itinerary. As a lifelong resident of the Houston area, I've been to the Boardwalk quite a few times for that rare opportunity to fine dine or show relatives from afar around. In my latest visit, my older brother, my eldest cousin, and I took our cousins visiting for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary here for a good hour or two on a comfortably warm day. While I'm not that thrilled that the Boardwalk is under the Landry's corporate umbrella, I still feel it's a landmark worth treating your guests to. The nearby Clear Creek and Galveston Bay look spectacular when the weather is cooperating, providing for an ideal backdrop for selfies and group pictures. Continuing on the subject of pictures, train your phones or cameras on the place's piece de resistance, the amusement park area. The famed Rattler is the most visually striking feature of the complex in my book. My poor health prevents me from getting on the rides except for the train, but I can't pass up a chance to take snaps of them. The six of us took the train around the Boardwalk. It was a great, quick way to catch a glimpse of the premises. Two tunnels, with one that's attached to Saltgrass Steakhouse, are a part of the short trek. If you're capturing pictures, I recommend that you do them in bursts . The train may move at a slow speed, but things tend to go by really fast. I almost forgot, there's a row of games that you would find at a traditional amusement park along the water. Highly recommend if you have kids. The Boardwalk isn't exactly for me, but it doesn't stop me from giving it close to high marks. read more

My son and I had a football game he needed to play and decided to extend our stay for a day and visit Kemah Boardwalk. I'm glad we did! We had so much fun together, we rose the wooden roller coaster which was our favorite, the airplane, and the boat that swings and more. We created some awesome memories there. PS: only downfall was the Starbucks there, I was buying a bunch of things - coffee, a Houston mug (we collect those), chocolate milk and food for my son but I did start my order with a cup of water and the older lady at the POS refused to serve us, I'm glad I started with my water because with this type of service I hope they review their employees behaviors - I just walked out and bought water at the park and had coffee away from there. read more

When my sister and I were kids, our parents made it a mission to always ride the mini train. On the boardwalk, you'll find amusement rides, games, restaurants, a marina, and boutique shops. Kemah boardwalk is fun, we went on a weekday and got the day passes which in my opinion is the only way to do it. Better deal for rides. The lines were non existent and almost all the rides were open so we had our pick. I would definitely recommend to visit if you've never been. They have plenty of restaurants and there's a Starbucks. My husband and I came here today (Sunday) just for funsies as he's not from Houston and wanted to check this place out. There was live music today, which was a pleasant surprise as I thought they only did this on Fridays and Saturdays. We decided to play a few of the claw machines because we are kids at heart. On the third try of the Care Bear machine I actually got one! It wasn't the color that I wanted but I would rather win a random color than none at all. Haha. Angel was restocking all the claw machines at that time and I saw him open up the Care Bear machine. I asked him if I could swap out the one I won for a different one (worst he could say is "no", am I right?), and to my delight he said yes! Boardwalks are always some of my favorite places to visit and this is one of the awesome ones out there as it has something for all ages! This one in particular has some really fun attractions like Boardwalk Bullet Roller Coaster and numerous flat rides as well as a train ride that goes around the area making for not only a fun ride but a sightseeing experience too! They also have a good number of chain restaurants here so if you wanna get some food you'll be good but I'd personally prefer to go to a local spot. Five Stars: Kemah Boardwalk - My Top Boardwalk Ever! I just visited the Kemah Boardwalk and I'm giving it 5 stars because it's hands down the best boardwalk I've ever been to. It's an amazing experience that goes way beyond what you'd expect. What really sets Kemah Boardwalk apart is the sheer number and variety of attractions. This isn't just an amusement park, it's an entertainment district. While there are rides, I totally agree with the saying you shouldn't come just for the rides. My recommendation and what made my experience so great is to focus on the awesome stores and separate attractions that dominate the landscape. You'll find charming boutiques, unique souvenir shops and places to get sweet treats or savory snacks to wander and browse. Beyond the retail therapy the "separate attractions" are where this boardwalk really shines. Think arcade games, street performers (depending on the day), diverse dining options from casual eateries to upscale restaurants with waterfront views and even an aquarium. The whole atmosphere is super lively and inviting and just walking along the boardwalk is an experience in itself. Now about the rides, I'll qualify my earlier statement. While I wouldn't make them the reason for your trip, there is one exception: the Boardwalk Bullet. This wooden roller coaster is awesome! It's classic roller coaster fun with big drops and turns and was the only ride I loved and would recommend. If you're going to wait in line for something make it this one. Nice Boardwalk with Multiple Activities for the Entire Family!!! The boardwalk is pretty large with plenty of shops, food, and roller coaster rides. They sell an all day pass for the rides that is $22.99 for adults and $18.99 for children. The rides lines can get pretty long especially the Boardwalk Bullet (wooden ride) we couldn't ride it because the wait for around 2 hours+. Highly recommend getting there early enough to ride all the rides. Lots of food choices like carnival snacks and actual restaurants. Kemah boardwalk has been the same since visiting years ago really nothing has changed much few things added, only thing good is the dining I enjoy and don't mind there are some good restaurants in the area. I wouldn't bother coming on special holidays or when school is out and like anywhere else this place is a mad house for the amount of money you spend on tickets for rides the time waiting is not worth it. I spent about couple hundred bucks on rides and the times spent waiting to get on we're about 40-60 minute wait for rides that last about minute trill, I'd say plan to be there all day wear your comfortable shoes. There will be a lot of standing and walking back and forth, the area not to big so keep in mind it's a mad house. the best time to go is at dusk when everything starts lighting up the boardwalk. There are gift shops but they only carry very little product like bubble machine wounds for the kids go for 20$-30$ not worth it as they break or don't work, They don't sell magnets, snow globes, keychains or anything with the name kemah broad walk on it which is a bummer wish they had souvenirs which they lack of should have for visitors/tourists. i recommend this place if you want some good dining, some trills, and you can also stay near the boardwalk as they have hotels/motels you can stay in. only thing i don't like is the waiting times for the rides and the parking is horrendous. you just need to know when its a good time to go. read more

As a whole it's pretty decent. I personally wouldn't recommend the restaurants unless you just want to go full package. (Like the "when in Rome" attitude) but there ARE other places to eat that look and smell amazing OFF the boardwalk. A few things to consider that's already been mentioned, they def do not like to change up the place. We use to make a day of it during the summer but now we go for my youngest's birthday in Jan. We started this ritual in 2022. We did it 2 days ago... same stuff, different day. They slap a few winter lights here and there but it's def same ole same ole. I even want to say the same Boardwalk Tower ride that was one last year was out in 2022(?) In the summer same, just packed depending in when you go. Your best bet very early or very late in summer. In Jan, on New Year's Day? Pfft, doesn't matter people are less likely to brave the cold. So you're good, less of a crowd. We had a less than decent experience with the Build A Bear kiosk in "Kemah Outfitters" but that's another story. Just know that they wrong for that & should tell people before they check out that their printer isn't working. "It'S bEeN oUt FoR a WhiLe." Other than that guy, each staff member we came across was kind, professional and engaging. They *made* the visit more memorable & forget about the lousy store clerk. Nice little get away or to bring out-of-town family. We usual go to the Aquarium when we go to eat but we just wasn't feeling it... ate dinner off the boardwalk. The Kemah boardwalk was a pleasant surprise. I went there on the spur of the moment a couple of days ago. I can honestly say it wasn't your normal boardwalk which was very nice to see something different. Before I even got to the boardwalk, so many attractions, stores, and restaurants caught my attention, and I spent the better part of my time roaming in and out of the businesses. I eventually made my way down to the boardwalk but stopped first at Starbucks, which had a very beachy feel, keeping with the theme. I also checked out the price for a day pass, and it was only 28 dollars. If you don't get the pass the rides are 7 dollars each. So the pass is the better option for people with chikdren. Also, for a small fee there's a fun boat ride, and a train that's takes you around the park. read more

A Ghost town of a past great Boardwalk. This place is always Empty it's dead the Rides here suck . The prices here are ridiculous expensive. The very very few restaurants here are mostly sea food . We have been to Kemah before but for the first time we tried their new year carnival. Online it said that the park was open only until 9 pm on 31st, so the plan was to be home by 12 to cheer the new year 2024. It was a smooth drive till about 6 miles from the Broadwalk and then everything got locked. We drove at lesser than snail's pace to find a parking spot and kept circling around for the next one hour - every spot was taken, or so we thought... we did not even venture to the parking right opposite to the entrance, I mean come-on, what are the chances that is available- but, actually, it was. It is on the more expensive side, but there were atleast 10 spots free and the entrance was from further away so it was kind of not easy to get in. We finally made it to the entrance and it was such a cheerful ambiance. A juggler juggling with fire!, Dipping dots, soap bubbles making the Christmas tree look magical, food stalls, games and so much more. We were just in time for the fireworks. We didn't get the best place to watch them as it was really crowded but managed a decent waterfront view. It was great. After that we got into the last of the zip lining queue and the line was so long we reached our turn at about 10 pm. It was 2 seater, really small one line, but it was really thrilling as I am among those who cringes at the sight of those roller coasters --lol All done, we headed home and again the traffic was bad to get out ( it IS 31 Dec!) It's a nice boardwalk with stores, restaurants and rides with an inexpensive ride wristband. It was nicer than I even expected it to be. There's a boat ride available for $25 which is pretty wild and fun! The shopping area has a big courtyard with a stage for live performances. You can really spend all day here. The only downside is that there aren't a whole lot of ride options which means, getting on rides takes very long. It's normal to wait 30-45 mins to ride anything. read more

Fun place to go to for all ages! I had a fantastic time walking around, looking at the scenery and touring the stuff they offered to entertain us with! Although I found it a bit pricey, I did find the rides fun. They were jittering and out shock into me! It was a fun surprise. Heads up on Pharoah's Fury. It went so high I got lifted off my seat. Food is also decent, the funnel cakes are warm and tasty. While I was looking at the sea, three men up on the restaurant asked if I wanted shrimp and they could throw it down. Core memory unlocked. The Boardwalk, in general, so much fun. Restaurants are all amazing! The Beast rocks. Just steer clear of the food trailer by the rides. It used to be amazing - we loved their pizza, their walking tacos, couldn't get enough. However, took my family a couple of weeks back. Nacho cheese tasted burnt. Pizza was so bad even the birds wouldn't eat it. And finally broke down and got a pretzel. That was molded. Do NOT eat there. It's sooooo sooooo sooooo bad. read more

Kemah boardwalk is very cute and the Boardwalk Bullet is wild. I was not expecting that roller coaster to be as fast as it was. I highly enjoyed it but first time riding I was just shocked at the speed of it. However after the roller coaster there isn't really much else to do. Kemah Boardwalk seemed to be the place to be on a Saturday night. It was quite packed, thankfully we were able to find parking in the parking garage. If I remember correctly it was about 10-15$ for parking. It was a fun little spot for families, especially with younger kids. Lots of carnival games (cash only) and rides. Tickets for the rides were reasonably priced (7-9$ for single tickets and all day pass for about 25-35$). The wait did not seem to be too long for the rides either. There were plenty of shops however, not really any places for souvenirs. There were lots of food options available for a variety of diets and preferences (including vegan and vegetarian). I stopped at the pizza place which was absolutely delicious. I also got some ice cream which was good with many topping and flavor options however, I felt like my waffle cone was a bit stale and the service at the shop was a bit slow. However, no biggie, and i just want to acknowledge that this may have just been because there was a festival going on at the boardwalk that evening so they employees probably were exhausted and busy all day. The actual boardwalk was quite large and seemed fairly accessible, plenty of open space for walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, etc. However, a lot of the shops/food places are located on the second floor, I don't recall seeing elevators or a ramp but I feel there has to be an option. There is large open space with a stage that had a live band for the Salsa festival that was going on, although, I enjoyed my night there. I love this place! I've been here a few times now, and I still enjoy it every time we come. We don't live close enough to get the season pass, but it is worth it to get the all day pass because it was like 6 rides and you get your money's worth or something like that. I come with my young children and we love the rides that they have like the merry-go-round, the ferris wheel and a few of the other ones. The train is really fun too, as is the one that goes straight up and gives a view overlooking the city. I haven't gone on the scary type rides because I only go with my kids so I can't comment on that. We have come before during a school break and I would not recommend it because it is way too crowded-- I would rather just come during a school day, and have shorter lines for the rides so that we can enjoy it more. First of all having to pay for parking is ridiculous. This used to be a great place to go lots of good restaurants. It all begin with babins. A great restaurant was closed down after a storm and it was the only one that was not reopened and still sits empty The light house there's nothing more than frozen food that you get out of a grocery store. Then Cadillac bar was great and they close that down. There's some stupid Bill 's burger from New York. This is Texas and now they close down the Flying Dutchman to put in a waterpark ridiculous. Needed to get away for the day so hubby and I took a day trip to Kemah Boardwalk. It was very relaxing watching the boats sail by. We ate at a chain restaurant but will try something local before we get here next time. It is a fun place for small kids. It was relaxing watching them ride the rides. November 20, 2021 Family came in from Beaumont to meet me for a pre BD celebration at Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack (meh, go somewhere else to eat) soo, to walk off the mediocre food we had and all the BD cake...we walked to the boardwalk. Most of us in the group have been here before (I live in Galveston) but, my parents never have. They enjoyed this beautiful Saturday afternoon albeit windy, it was neat seeing all the boats.
