I have a rental property in the Sea Ranch that I bought around 5 months ago. The owner had recently filled the tank with another company. Out of habit, I forgot I needed to set up another energy account beyond PGE, so I had no propane service. Over the Christmas break, when I had my highest-ever paying renter present for a one-week stay checking in at 4 pm on a Saturday, for reasons I cannot explain I asked the housekeeper to photo the propane meter for the first time. It was at absolute zero! I called all propane sellers that service the area - there were 4 or 5. At least two said best case was a week later, others would not commit to any date until they did a site visit first some 4-5 days later. Kemgas, on the other hand, had 100 gallons in the tank within three hours of opening and my first call Monday morning, and 330 more a day later. They saved me thousands of dollars of rent I would have had to refund my guests (who could not have found another place to stay there during Christmas/New Years), and those same guests have said they plan to come back many times. If I could give -100 stars I would. This company Kemgas is a big fake. The owner president of the company was on the phone with me, patronizing me and making me feel like shit. I have never had any kind of dealings like this before in my life with a business . All over their $70 tank rental they have been gouging me since I filled up the tank in my rental property and I have gotten nothing but ill treatment from one specific employee there named Holden, who talked real sweet to me while I was in the office signing up. but was in a big hurry to get out the door to lunch and didn't bother to explain things to me at all. When I tried to talk to anyone at the business about it, they blew me off and I was patronized and made to feel like crap. I wish I could take their tank and shove it where the sun don't shine. But, I can't find any tanks anywhere right now, so I'm stuck with this lousy patronizing piece of shit company who treats all of you whether you know it or not like shit and looks down their nose at us as they rake in the dough, charging us a $20 fee because I don't live in the house and then on top of that a $15 delivery fee on top of their taxes and they taught how wonderful their price range is for Brooktrails but the savings is gobbled up by their fees. I paid $260 for a fill up and by the time they were done with me I was paying them $340 so for some reason they jacked up my bill 80 bucks so there's no savings with Kemgas. there's no dealing with anyone in that office because they're all a bunch of phonies. They talk real nice to see your face and then they turn around and they gouge you and then they're running down AmeriGas who have been nothing but great for me here in my own home, So be warned, they're going to raise tank rental prices too I know this because he told me he was thinking that they're just not high enough, and he wants to create some more revenue for himself. We don't use much propane here in Philo, only for cooking on our gas stove and running our gas dryer..Our 100 gallon tank will last us a couple of years. I was figuring it was probably getting low and needed a fill up. I put in an online request for propane delivery on wed Sept 6 2023 and said I thought the tank was at 15%. I really was just guessing. I asked my son to stop and check the tank for me on his way home... He tells me 0%..NO that can't be right..I knew the stove was still working. He says well it's really about 5%..The online request says they will deliver on our next scheduled delivery day..but we don't have one..just will call when propane is needed. So today I try calling the Ukiah office, push 0 to request delivery..then sat on hold for almost 8 minutes, so I just hung up and called the Ft Bragg office. Call was answered immediately.. I gave the very nice fella that answered my account number. He says We Got Your request and your tank was filled this morning!! I was happily in shock! I didn't even hear the propane truck..! Ten years of service with them and now $100 is missing out of my payment made thru their drop slot. because of covid they are closed so i couldn't get my receipt. Ten years of good standing why would i pay only 25 bucks for a 125 dollar bill . And they don't tell me I'm a hundred dollars short on my bill until 2 months latter. Not sure where this company went wrong, but wrong they are. With an order in the past I was refuse service when I was told my yard was full of dog feces and the driver couldn't get to the tank. When I called about it I was told the driver stated the yard was dirty. Funny thing is their truck was never seen in front of my home. I was then flat out called a liar by the man I spoke with (not sure who he was) when he said well my driver said, so that was when the man said well I don't know you but I do know my driver. So I again said "sounds like you are calling me a liar." No I just know my driver and I don't know you. I offered pictures of my yard but he declined and said they would be back on my next scheduled day (a week later) to deliver my propane. My next time I ordered I used their online system. I called the day of the delivery and they claimed they never got the order. The lady told me well we will try to get you on the schedule for today. Luckily I got that delivery. Well, yesterday I was to receive my latest order and even called to confirm the delivery that morning and was assured that I was on the schedule. About four forty pm I called their office and was told I wasn't going to get my delivery because the driver ran out of propane. The lady tells me casually, you will get your delivery next week. I told her I was down to twenty percent and that wouldn't last another week. She actually argued the point with me telling twenty percent was more than enough. I had thirty two percent when I ordered and down to twenty percent soon after. I asked for the operations manager and was told he was gone for the day. So I asked for the owners name and was told Josh. When I pressed for the last name the lady mumbled the last name which I never caught. But even then she gave it out reluctantly. Of course when I asked for him I was told he was also gone for the day. I left message for them this morning that if my delivery is not here today (March 31, 2023) I will request a refund (for products not delivered) I was also told that the operations manager and the owner will call me today . As of eleven am I have heard nothing from them. What used to be a great company is losing my confidence in them. Everyone I have dealt with at Kemgas has been really friendly and helpful. I'm new to home propane service and Corbin patiently explained all the various options from renting to buying a tank and the costs for either option and some plans they have for assuring I never run out. He gave me the information so I could make the best decision for myself - no pressure to go one way or the other. I decided to buy my own larger tank so I could pick when to refill it when gas prices were lower. The tank itself arrived in great condition - excellent paint job, no rust and seems like a long lasting coating. On refill, the delivery person was prompt and friendly and billing professional. We have been with KEMGAS for over 11 years. We started with them when we were building our home. The office staff is beyond helpful and wonderful . We are billed in a timely manner and since we pay promptly we have never had any issues regarding payment. We would highly recommend KEMGAS to anyone needing a propane gas company. read more

We have been using Kemgas about a year. Service hasn't been great but wasn't bad enough to consider using someone else until this Thanksgiving weekend. We had a scheduled delivery set for Tuesday, it's now Wednesday night at 6:00PM and we still don't have our promised delivery. So while they have a nice warm comfy weekend with their families I will have to be very careful not to run out of propane over the long holiday weekend. Before you chose a propane service provider I would check around and make sure you know what you are getting when you sign up for a service provider that does not deliver what they say they can. read more

OK people this is my first complaint ever for any local businesses and I'm furious about customer service at Kemgas. If you are late on a bill pay it asap or they will screw you on your next bill, big time late fees that are out of control at Kemgas no regard for human life period. About two years ago they sent me a bill for rent on my tank because I was not using enough yearly then I complained so they decided not to charge...WOW why has not stopped them before from over charging me. Now they decided not to deliver gas for us because I don't use enough yearly. The last time they delivered gas they charged me for lighting my pilot and no one lite our pilot,no one came in and touched anything. But that did not stop them from good customer service. I payed it,,, or else on the late fee's!!!! They came once to turn off my gas because I was late on a yearly fee and stuck me for late fees again. I pay all my bills I have excellent credit. But Kemgas just upset me so much that I am having there tank removed because of harassment for money any and every charge they can come up with WATCH OUT FOR KEMGAS LITTLE FEES a little late fees is big for them Extra money for the owners vacation. My family has been using propane for over 35 years and we have always received our best prices and service from family owned and serviced companies. Kemgas is one such company. Josh has been our delivery man for several years now and had always delivered on time and at the best per/gallon and delivery price for us in the Southern Nevada County foothill market and believe me when I say we have many to choose from up here. Don't be fooled by the lower introductory offers made by others as the price differences gets eaten up by setup charges, delivery charges and the otherwise normally higher prices of the competition. I also had very friendly interactions with everyone at Kemgas until I had a problem. I have now woken up to the third morning of no heat and no hot water (house temperature of 51 degrees). They tell me this is because I need an additive to keep my gas flowing on very cold days. Why wasn't this fixed on my first call? Good question and the operator who took my call belligerently told me I was talking to the wrong person and I could complain all I wanted when Carlos came in to work. These folks are happy to set up service but unhappy when they need to fix a problem. Watch out! read more

Be sure you know the terms of opening a new account with Kemgas before you cancel or switch propane delivery. When I submitted the application, I was told they would waive checking my credit in lieu of a $250 deposit. I had a freeze on my credit accounts for identity theft purposes but had a recent credit check done six months prior which showed a very high FICO score. I said I would send this information along with the $250 deposit if they wanted it. I was told the deposit would suffice. Two days later after I had terminated my prior delivery service, the accounting manager called to say I would have to put down a $400 deposit for a full tank of gas. He admitted his employee had given me the wrong information even though I tried to explain to him I had already cancelled my previous supplier. Even though they had changed the terms on me, I was willing to give them the $400 deposit if they would return part of the deposit after a year or so. I was told no and that the deposit would remain on the account until I closed it. I wrote a letter to the owner but the reply was "we can't meet your requirements." This is awful customer service especially since I had already cancelled my prior vendor based on the information I had received by telephone when I submitted the application. Had I known before I submitted the application that they would not honor their staff person's verbal commitment, I would not have attempted to go with this company. Not honoring one's commitment is a clear indication of a poorly managed organization. read more
