I had the pleasure of staying at San Clemente Palace Kempinski in Venice with my girlfriend. I highly recommend this wonderful establishment. The staff is forthcoming, and the island offers the perfect getaway from an otherwise very busy Venice, with boat rides every 20 minutes to and from the island. We were generously upgraded to the "Venice suite", which is a gorgeous and spacious room. If you are lucky, you might even see the hotel's mascot "Clemente" - a beautiful white rabbit that roams the island. :-) We would like to thank the kind team at the hotel for the lovely stay and hope to come again one day!

The rooms were extremely comfortable and the service was outstanding. The food was only ok though. We ordered the stuffed chioggia onion to start and that was absolutely breathtaking. Next, we both ordered the "30 egg yolk" taglionini in lobster sauce, bisque. There wasn't much lobster in the dish and I would say it was good but not outstanding. They bring bread to the table and the best of the bread is the one that has a tomato in the middle of it. That one is soft and delicious. It left us wishing the other bread styles were similar to that one. My husband ordered the Chianti and I ordered a cocktail called 7th heaven. Both were delicious. My absolute favorite drink was the "lady in White". Restaurant service was wonderful and the bar service was good. Drinks got a little slow but there was a huge party in the bar that was being served so that wasn't a huge deal. I personally felt as though the cooks use too much salt. The red sauce on the turkey sausage in the morning was way too salty and we ordered room service one night and the penne with meat sauce was almost ruined because of the amount of salt in it. Everyone seemed to really try their best to make our experience enjoyable, which they did!

We've been staying at this place for 3 nights. Before going here, maybe it is helpful to read about the history of this palace. The last purpose - before getting a hotel island - it was an psychiatric institution, so quite interesting to read about the island and its past. There is also an old basilica on the island what has its origin in the 13th century. Building: 5/5 stars You can clearly see it is a huge palace, now housing about 190 hotel rooms. You'll be brought to your room either by a receptionist or - if you are at least a gold member of Kempinski (minimum status with 1 - 9 nights per year), then you will be brought to your room by a gentle "lady in red", that's how they are called. The corridors and floors are very huge and give a nice ambience. They way to our deluxe room with lagoon view was quite far, what was not a negative aspect. High ceilings, old canvas and cahndeliers in the floors. Accomodation: 5/5 stars The room was quite comfortable, the bathroom with marble and enough space in the bedroom. Service: 3/5 stars Due to we had a queen size bed with one duvet, we asked for another one, so that everyone has its own. The night porter who brought it to our room came twice and didn't get the right one at least. So the understanding in english should be a matter of course in a hotel of Kempinski, but it wasn't. Breakfast Service: 4/5 stars The place for breakfast was not very crowded, what was nice. But for paying a lot for the night and expecting perfect service, we were asked to get out fresh orange juice at the entrance of the restaurant by our own. The second day the squeezer for fresh carrot juice was out of order, they said. They didn't have caramel sirup for the coffee I usually drink with it. They have a bar nearby, so it could've been expected to get it from there, where it definetily exists, as well as another squeezer. The guys of the water shuttle by the hotel were always kind and friendly, also helpful by getting in and out of the ship. quality and quantity of the breakfast: 2/5 This was quite dissatisfying. Expecting the good quality of the breakfast as at the Adlon Kempinski in Berlin for example, the quantity of the breakfast choices were quite poor. Small buffet but nice style, but the choices definetily could have been better. restaurants: (not visited) Two restaurants are located on the island + one bar. We wanted to go to the italian restaurant the first evening, but it was fully booked and we had to make a reservation for the next day. We didn't know when we would come back and the choice in Venice for good restaurants was too big, so we only ate outside, what was also a very good choice. When we passed this "fully booked" restaurant while going to the water shuttle to Piazza San Marco, we saw that there were only 4 tables occupied and we couldn't understand why they said it is fully booked, maybe they want to do perfect service for the few, but the waiters weren't busy. Waterbus/shuttle: 4/5 Pitily the first water shuttle starts at 9 o'clock from the island to Piazza San Marco, we were forced to cancel our trip with a Kayak group on another island, we would have missed them. A private shuttle, what is of course also a choice is 70 - 80 € from San Clemente island to Piazza San Marco. It wasn't worth it for us. But the water shuttle goes every 30 minutes, what is good and a nice ambience. For hotel guests it is for free. Also people who just want to visit the island can go with this shuttle for free because nobody asks for room numbers. The last shuttle goes at around 00:15 am. Free Wifi: 1/5 The Wifi didn't work very well. Disconnected, then connected for a short time again... They should make it more stable.

Why 5 stars? Because it was quite an unforgettable experience…read more --- --- --- I was actually looking for a massage, as traveling throughout Italy had worn me out a bit. Somehow, Dr. Kiss Fish popped up in my search results, and I was intrigued. I mentioned it to my wife, and she immediately said she would not do it. I brought up the fact that we didn't have a ton to do in Venice anyway, and she quickly let her guard down and agreed to give it a try. So what it is? You clean your feet off and then stick them in a tank, where little fish bite the dead skin off your feet. Yep. First off, we got quite lost trying to find this place. I would definitely recommend trying to ask a local for help, because the address system in Venice is not the most organized. If you're going by Apple Maps, it'll put you in the general vicinity, but it's definitely not accurate. Once we arrived, we found out that it was 10 Euros for 10 minutes. They were very sanity about making sure our feet were as clean as they could be before we stuck them in the tank. It was so weird to initially put our feet in, and it definitely tickled a lot! But within a couple of minutes, it really didn't feel that weird. The one thing I can definitely say is that it does not hurt, if you're worried about that. My wife was in the tank next to mine and the fish in that tank seemed to be a lot more interested in eating. That, or, my wife's feet were way grosser? The funniest part of the experience were all of the passers-by who would stop to take pictures of us having this done. We were the only customers in here and were sat really close to the front by the window. So many people stopped by that it felt like we were in a zoo. Many people tried to ask us what it was like in very broken english, but no one actually ended up signing up to have it done. Apparently we were not very good sales people. I would definitely recommend it if you're in Venice! It's definitely something we will never forget and was only 10 Euros! We found Venice to be as beautiful as we hoped it would be, but also kind of ran out of things to do after a couple of days. Definitely stop by!

I asked the lady in the front and she said 10-15 minutes is most common. First you wash your feet with antibacterial soap which is provided then wear plastics bag on your feet while you wait to your station. Then you put your feet in and the little fishies come and start doing their magic. Once done you wipe your feet then lotion is provided. Your feet feel softer when you are done. A nice thing to try. It's something different. Worth trying . Price is friendly.

I'll…read morewrite a full review separately for their wedding services, but the tl;dr is that the staff were amazing and really went above and beyond our expectations and my now-husband and I (and all our guests!) had a wonderful experience overall. Brunella and Carlo as leads worked very well with our wedding planner and the whole day went by very smoothly, even with pending rain and some last minute changes/requests. The stay at the hotel itself was so lovely as well. In summary - Pros: - Easy check-in process - able to park right up at the front (temporarily) and unload luggage - Friendly, helpful staff - most of them (all of the front desk and restaurant staff though) speak English - Great room (alcova) with lots of light and lots of space for the wedding party to get ready - Strong wifi in common areas, such as the reception area and lounge - Lots of options at breakfast - hot/cold drinks, continental food items, and hot food such as eggs and bacon - La Fucina restaurant, Donatello Bar, museums, and other areas are fun to explore and hang out in - 24h funicular (cable car) - Lovely spa amenities, easy to book Cons (ish): - The room wasn't fully cleaned until the last day - only the bed was made and the bathroom was cleaned, but the trash bag placed by the door wasn't removed - The room was right below Sansovino Restaurant and so there was lot of noise when tables/chairs were being moved, especially early in the morning - Wifi in the room wasn't usable unless standing next to the door or window - Gelateria was always closed I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I've already stayed at Castelbrando more than once when I was in the area, and I'm very much looking forward to staying here again! :)
