It was a 10 minute consultation visit which was not helpful. They charged me $200 and lied about the time they spent with me on the Medicare billing and actually stated you have not met your deductible! On my first visit a couple weeks ago went smoothly they sent me home with my Rx prescription and mentioned that they will call me in 1-2 weeks to pickup my trials for contacts. It's been two weeks and it's still pending... why would you tell the patient it will get to the office between 1-2 weeks to pick up and not come through on your end. I contacted the office today, and I was told that technician is usually at the office 1/2 twice a week. And that my order was pending, the front desk associate Gabriela mentioned that is due to the holidays that has mailed backed up. But the only holidays we've had is Memorial Day and July 4th. Not sure why would she say that. I asked for the technician to reach out to me by end of day. Hope to get a better understanding on why it's taking longer than usual to get trials. read more

It is unfortunate that you cannot give ZERO stars! My 84-year-old mom went to have cataract surgery and prior to the surgery she was asked to take prednisone drops. After she took 2 doses, she realized she was allergic to the drops as they were swelling her eye terribly. She called the office and was told to continue taking them! She called again the next day as her eye was swelling much worse and was told by another doctor to continue taking them until the day of surgery but to "not shake the bottle." The day of surgery with Dr. Randall Goodman, she went in, with a swollen eye, and the surgery was performed! My mom is now blind in that eye!!! She is having moments of feeling like shards of glass is in her eye and cries constantly, yet her surgeon will not call her back. As a result, my mom fell and broke her femur due to no peripheral vision in that eye! One nightmare after another. read more

Horrible selection of glasses. If you bring your own frames in then your glasses are not covered. The people are nice and that is about the only reason they are getting two stars. But their selection and polices are bad. - April 2015 I had to take my glasses back twice. Once because there was a 7 etched into the center of the lens and they assumed I scratched them in the two days I had them. When I'm pretty sure I payed for scratch prof ones. Odd....... Then I had to take them back because it looks like they rushed putting in the lens from the above issue and didn't shave it down right and the whole frame was odd shaped and slightly popping out. For this I'm taking a star back. Take your glasses some place else. For 400 bucks I expected them to look great and I got shit! And they skip people on the list as people are waiting to be seen. Dr. Nelson and All his staff gave me extraordinary care when I had an unusually bad reaction to an eye pressure test. When I felt somewhat faint, the assistant had me lie down on a cushioned bench seat and constantly attended to my needs, bringing water and a pillow. They constantly talked to me to make sure I was okay. Someone sat with me the whole time I was there, and the doctor checked on me multiple times. After about 40 to 45 minutes I felt well enough to first sit up and then to walk and go home. Their care is way beyond what I would expect. Thank you! read more

I was kept in the room for 45 minutes waiting for Dr Goodman no one came to the room to let me know the doctor was running late. They were supposed to send a prescription to pharmacy for me the didn't do it. Also they were supposed to get authorization from insurance for treatment. I really enjoy coming here and have for several years. Everyone from checking in to leaving treated me with respect. They were running behind today but that is expected. I have gone to tis eye center for a couple of years now. I have had nothing but problems with the glasses I get there. One lens has been replaced three times now due to scratching even though it has a protective lens coat on it. I am extremely careful with these glasses yet there are scratches yet again. I have worn glasses for decades and never had this problem. I will stop going there due to their inferior glasses. What a shame. They also seem to have problems retaining doctors tho I don't think any left recently. read more

Dr was very nice. Staff subpar, not friendly, ignoring customers. Appointment took almost 2 hours because office was way behind schedule, should have rescheduled me or informed me if that far behind. Dr did NOT inform me of astigmatism, and should have, no matter how slight, especially if going to send it to me on the visit summary that is emailed to me. Instead of telling me during the visit, to calm any worries i had, i had to read about it and freak out from an email. Very unprofessional, very rude. When i called to have it explained to me, the staff was very nice and informative, but said that the dr wont tell the patient about it if its really small. Either tell me or dont, not both! That makes patients freak out! Especially when they can't ask the Dr about it. read more

The entire staff was awesome! When I arrived they were having computer issues, but they explained this to me and handled it like professionals...things happen and they worked through it. Dr. Ken Kendall is awesome, he always takes the time to listen to my needs. I have had an issue trying to see my computer screen at work and he knew exactly what I needed, and gave me several options to fix the problem. Both of his assistance that took my information before and after the exam were also great, wish I could remember their names...one girl said she was new, but you wouldn't know it, she was very fast and efficient. I waited over an hour to be seen for my new patient visit, which I left work early for, to be seen for about 2 minutes...for a NEW PATIENT VISIT! I have traumatic glaucoma and recently moved to lompoc so I needed a check up to make sure all was well. Instead he told me nothing and put me back on a drop my eye doctor of over 10 years took me off of because it was ineffective (which I told him). His response was oh, well it could still work, let's try it again. I was on that drop for years and it didn't work....come on! This is the 3rd incision I have had for my stye , not including my 2 follow up appointments . My 1st incision was ok , and had great results . But every time after that , I have not seen any result . He recommended me oral medicine and also an ointment , which did Not do anything , but make me waste around $80 in medicine . And when I asked him in person about who he could recommend me that also specializes in the removal of styes , he completely changed the subject and mentioned something about a doctor in LA . Of course , his staff called me later to inform me that they could give me a list of referrals of other places that could help me . But what got me upset the most , is that every time I would ask him if he could guarantee me that it will go away , or ask him a direct question . He would always answer the same way . Simply stating , " you know these things they just simply won't go away , and there's nothing we can do about it ." All I wanted to hear was " I'm going to do everything I can to make it better ! Or i guarantee you that I'm going to do everything I can to help you ! " . But not one ounce of confidence would be in his dully noted reply . So Dr. Goodman , please wipe that smile off of your face , and just answer a direct question from a client and do not give me that beat around bush responses . read more

Went there for exam after 30+ years without test. Was to address pain in one eye. 1st appt pressure test, eye test = 20/20. 2nd appt peripheral vision test, results would be discussed after 3rd and final appt to scan the problem eye, review the tests with Dr. Good man. 3rd rescheduled due to Doctor out, okay. Rescheduled and received text, email, and reminder call. Came in on time, 42 minutes later taken back. Lady, "we're doing a pressure test today". Um, no we did that 6 weeks ago. So she finds the procedure for the scan on my papers. "The machine for that is down". No notice to me at all!! Totally unprofessional and waste of time!! The doctor was nice and informative but the lack of office support and simplest customer service, to make a phone call to me cost you my business and any reference. My review is more about one doctor at the shepard eye center but they all work with him so I guess its about the whole place. I was a patient of a so called Dr randall goodman for a while since I had glaucoma. everything seemed good until I started getting cataracts and he said I needed surgery on my right eye. Never once did he really explain to me or my boyfriend of 22 years who went into all my appointments with me what kind of surgery he was going to preform. he would only say that there was a chance it could improve my sight. If someone told me there was a good chance of going freekin blind I would have never done it. Would you? Id rather of had poor vision than none at all but we kind of really thought it was basic cataract sugery, But no it wasn't he installed a shunt in my right eye and almost as fast as I can write this I was blind in my right eye, well I could see a tiny bit out of the corner of it which went away too. He did not even remove the cataract until 4 days later after I lost my sight for what reason he did it after I was blind still puzzles me. Other doctors in the same office all looked at my eye and all seemed pretty shocked at the way it looked but no doctor is allowed to speak about anothers work. Tell me who came up with that law?. I kept seeing him thinking he could help make the terrible pain go away even a trip to the emergency room couldn't help. Thats then he started talking about doing surgery the other eye and thats when enough was enough I switched doctors. Here it is 5 months later left eye still doing great nothings been done to it, My right eye still is in pain and no vision. So if you ever have to have anything done to your eyes find another place or at least stay the heck away from RANDALL.L.GOODMAN read more
