The service is fast and everyone is nice the food is delicious and a great place to meet people

The food at Kengo is excellent which is unexpected and surprising for a city like Tracy. First, the fish The sashimi is quality. It appears to be sashimi grade because I didn't see any ligament strands in any of the ahi pieces in the sushi or sashimi slices. The sushi were made on the small side, but was delicious. For the dinner Bentos, the Kalbi was tasty, but on the fatty side. About a third of the short rib was fat. The teriyaki chicken was a breast fillet with teriyaki sauce drizzled on the sliced chicken pieces. I've had it where the chicken was marinated in the teriyaki sauce over night and grilled. The flavor is more robust and flavorful. The sashimi pieces were fantastic. The salmon sashimi was buttery. The Hamachi and ahi slices were excellent too. If the fish were frozen, it was most likely flash frozen to keep the flesh as firm as possible since the sashimi tasted fresh. Overall, Kengo is a great place to have a good dinner or to satisfy your sushi cravings. It is a little pricy for what you get compared to other sushi eateries in the Bay Area, but definitely a place to try. read more

I've been to all of the sushi/japanese restaurants around Tracy and none of them could defeat Kengo. Kengo is by far the best sushi place in Tracy. The food is delicious with high quality food plus their price is more reasonable than other places. The restaurant is clean and wonderful customer service. I don't like to eat raw food but Kengo serves many cooked sushis which I find delectable. My favorite to go sushi is the Simba Roll. It's so delicious and addicting. Just thinking about it makes my mouth salivating . Kengo also offers kid's meals which my children love to order. Overall, if you wanna eat good food with reasonable price and excellent customer service care then Kengo is the place. read more

This place was nice when we walked in, the service was almost immediate. I had lunch with my sister and we ordered 3 different types of sushi and we were very pleased with what we had- lots of flavor and good taste! The service was quick on the water and the food. Only reason it's not a 5 star was because both my sister and I felt nauseous in the evening before bed- but luckily didn't get food poisoning. I like Kengo, and it's probably one of the better sushi restaurants in Tracy. Flavors are typically consistent and they have a diverse range of rolls offered (baked, special, deep fried, classic). Kengo usually my go to spot whenever I'm craving sushi in Tracy, but I've never been completely impressed by it. It doesn't quite compare to sushi restaurants over the hill in the East Bay or Bay Area, but again, it's good if it's the only option you have. I ordered a Red Dragon Roll ($13), Spicy Crunch Roll ($12), and Lion King ($11) through their online website I found on Yelp. After ordering, it provided me a 35ish minute estimate for me to pick up my sushi which was on point since it was ready by the time I got there. I'm not sure if dine in is available, but there wasn't anyone in the restaurant during lunchtime on a Saturday. Service was nice and welcoming overall. The rolls however were good but not the best. The Red Dragon roll was described to consist of unagi, shrimp tempura, and tuna - there was probably two pieces of unagi covering the entire roll as seen on the picture. The Spicy Crunch roll had a similar problem with the unagi, I felt like I was skimped on here too since the pieces of unagi on it were smaaallll. The Lion King I did like, but it felt like they went a bit overboard with the kewpie mayo on some parts of the roll more than others. The sizes of the sushi at Kengo overall are generally small as well compared to other sushi restaurants outside of Tracy that go around the same price. Overall, I was a bit disappointed this visit considering it's probably the only sushi restaurant in Tracy I enjoy the most. While I'll probably be coming back, I'm hoping that they do better with the servings they provide. read more

I came here a little while ago with my little family. We've moved from the Bay Area and was really looking for a good sushi spot to try. It's so hard trying to find new places once you move but Yelp helps. We got the California Roll, Lion King Roll, and a side of rice for the little one. The rolls were good and the servers were very nice. I also ordered a Thai Iced Tea and an Arnold Palmer. Very bad experience at Kengo. I just left the restaurant after visiting on February 14, 2025. Surprisingly, the place was not full, even though it was Valentine's Day. My husband, my two children, and I were seated, and they gave us the menu. However, no one came to take our order. Understanding that it was a busy day with in-person customers and Uber orders, we patiently waited without saying anything. But then we started noticing that the staff was paying attention to other customers who arrived after us. We finally asked a waiter to take our order, but he seemed annoyed when he did. After that, we saw that at least five tables with people who arrived later were having their orders taken and receiving their food, while we kept being ignored despite asking multiple times. This whole experience lasted around 50 minutes, and it was extremely frustrating and disappointing. We were made to feel very unwelcome. I will never return to this restaurant. I've been here many times and there is a huge selection of food. However the fish is rancid. One time I ordered sea urchin, it came out slimey and dark brown. It tasted nothing like butter of the ocean as many say, it was more like feces. Will not be coming back. read more

I've been going to the restaurant since it opened when I was in high school, this spot will forever be one of my favorites. Great quality, great price, always speedy attentive service, the inside is gorgeous, the list goes on. My only complaint is I feel like portion size differs from take out to dine in. My girlfriend and I couldn't decide between sushi or ramen, so we opted for Kengo since we saw that there's also ramen on the menu. We went on a Monday around lunch time, so it wasn't busy at all and we got seated right away. We ordered the sashimi appetizer, two rolls (Gail Special and Crazy Monkey) and I got the tonkotsu ramen. All of this we shared. Service was awesome, our server was really nice, we were checked on several times, and everything was brought out super fast. The sashimi was cut really generously and presentation was very pretty. The salmon and tuna were fresh and yummy but the hamachi seemed just a bit too fishy for my liking. The Gail Special Roll was a 4.5/5, Crazy Monkey Roll was a 3.5/5. What really suffered was the ramen. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have very high expectations to begin with, because it's a sushi restaurant. But this was more disappointing than a top ramen and for the whopping price of $16. For starters, it was your basic instant noodle, not the chewy egg noodles typically used for ramen, the egg was hard boiled, and the broth was like water, as if barely half a packet of soup base was used. The pork was very dry and inedible. I just really think restaurants shouldn't offer certain things on their menus if they can't be done at least decently. Their sushi overall is a solid 4/5 but for now, I would rather drive over to the next town to get my ramen fix. read more

My first time here with the family for hubby's birthday dinner and we all loved the dishes we ordered. Salmon teriyaki, sashimi, beef teriyaki, sushi rolls, tempura, green tea mochi and cheesecake made our day. First time to Kengo for dinner last night with a friend. We were tired of the same ol sushi place, happy to have tried Kengo. Atmosphere was relaxing, music on and a beautiful bamboo garden in the hall. Got there a little early for dinner, dining room wasn't too busy. Was immediately seated and drinks ordered. We shared two rolls, the green dragon roll and the crazy roll. Also ordered garlic edamame and a dinner box to go. Food was served quickly and was delicious. The crazy roll was deep fried goodness and the green dragon roll had great flavor. The portions are not too big, but fit the price. So many other items on the menu I wanted to try. The to go box was brought out with the check and we headed home. Everything tasted fresh and was made well. Service was excellent. The dining room got busy while we were eating. They have great Sushi especially the "Crazy Roll" and the "OMG" roll and their prices are good/fair and the service is basic. The only real complaint I have is that they have weird hours and they shut down from like 2-5pm every day and then re-open so if you want late lunch or early dinner you have to go early or wait. Hire more staff and stay open all day from 11am to 9-10pm at least!! read more

This is our new go to sushi place to order from. Sushi is fresh and the proteins in our bento boxes were good and not dry. I also really love the good quality plastic containers the food arrives in. So we ordered two appetizers: Deep Fried Calamari (for Caleb), & Combo Tempura. As for the main dishes, we ordered Tonkotsu Ramen, and a pair of chicken bento boxes, which came with tempura vegetables, white rice and three pot stickers each. Along with those dishes I ordered three rolls: a Pink Dragon (salmon and shrimp) a Hawaiian (spicy tuna), and a Spider roll for Caleb . All dishes were delicious. We got here about two hours after they opened and the service was prompt & the server was attentive. We came in on a Friday evening, party of 3. A table was available so we did not need to wait. Our server was not very good. It took a very long time ( well over 20 mins) for her to come ask out for our drink order. She came back with drinks and took our food order. She just wasn't friendly , not welcoming. I was just not impressed. I came in and my first turn off was the tiny, cheap, wobbly chairs and tables. There was also not a pleasant smell. It smelled of rotten fish or something spoiled. I ordered spicy edamame, lion king roll and my daughter ordered the spider roll. The edamame was the absolute worst I have ever tasted. Not only was the spicy sauce they used nasty flavor, didn't seem to pair well or be the correct kind of spice to use on edamame, but the consistency of the edamame was awful/horrid. It was slimy and mushy. I've never had edamame that particular texture so idk if it was gone bad or cooked wrong or what. Awful taste and texture, I had to kindly send it back to the kitchen. My lion king roll was edible, but not very tasty, and didn't seem fresh. To be fair My 13yo did enjoy her sushi and ate it all. Service was fair. We've eaten at Kengo twice now. It's one of the better choices for Sushi in Tracy in my opinion. 2nd time we came was last Friday the 1st for dinner. We got the Hawaiian roll, which has spicy tuna with tuna on top, a lobster roll called the nemo, and we got the orangehead which has baked salmon on it I believe. Orangehead comes with a tangy orange sauce too and was probably my favorite of the 3 rolls we ordered. The bento boxes are good too, we got that, and some small chicken plates with rice for my kids. Atmosphere is a bit quiet in there for a eating spot to be honest. It felt like you could hear a pin drop as you're chewing your food, so with my 3 & 8 year olds that's a bit below the noise level I'm accustomed to. Ha. read more

This place has changed a lot. The portions are considerably smaller. When we pointed out to them that a sushi roll wasn't made the same as it was in the past they took it to the back and drowned it in sriracha sauce. The owner came out and basically told us we don't know what we're talking about. Won't be back. Too bad, they were great. Teach your young servers some proper customer service etiquette. read more
