Pete and his crew did an excellent job on the exterior renovation (new roof, siding, windows, and…read moregutters) of our home. The crews showed up on site, when he stated they would and worked straight until they completed the entire job, including Saturdays. Their attention to detail, was incredible, they even went as far as matching the color of the gable vents to the new siding vs the standard white vent on every other home. All holes and corners were filled or caulked with color matched caulk. Every fixture had a white mounting block installed. They used high quality material and the installation was spot-on. At the end of the job, Pete did a full walk-thru with us and identified a couple minor 'punchlist' items. His crew came back the next day to address the issues. Pete even sent his guys back a few months after their contract was complete to add a dryer vent on our addition that I forgot to ask for while they were here. Their estimate, contract, and payment terms were clear and fair. We are very satisfied with the work completed by PJ Sullivan Exteriors and the timeframe in which it was completed. I signed a contract with Peter Sullivan, PJS Builders on Feb 27 with a start date of March 18 and gave Pete a deposit of almost $10k He was quick to come and get a check After a multitude of excuses he finally had his guys show up on May 1. They did 1 day of work and almost covered the deposit. 9 interior doors. primed. I had to call over and over to get a hold of Peter and schedule the work. Needless to say they were over 6 weeks past the start date After the 1 day May 1st ALl I kept hearing was they were backed up with other jobs and a million excuses. We were finally going to schedule July 8 but AGAIN a multitude of excuses like this 1 Peter: We are still working off our back log of work. We are going to be back on schedule with everything in about 2 weeks. However, my best install crew goes on vacation 7/27 until 8/12. So now its ANOTHER 6 weeks so from March 18 we are now mid August 5 months later with only 1 day of work done. Finally I had enough and got the difference in my deposit back and had then change a lock which they installed improperly STAY away from this guy/company. He says 1 thing and does another. NO regard for the customer. From I'm away on my 60th bday golf weekend in Vegas. to I have diverticulitis, to we are backed up. I have never heard so many excuses before. Trade Mark Interiors renovated our kitchen and bathrooms and we couldn't be happier…read more Not only did I need to find a reputable contractor to completely renovate our kitchen, but also someone who was able to identify and fix all of the deficiencies left by our previous contractor. After an agonizing 3-year ordeal with our previous Englewood Cliffs-based designer/contract, we were left with leaking showers, loose tiles, and a non-working radiant floor heating system. I met with at least 4 different contractors, checked references, portfolios, and assessed the design ability of each. Ultimately, I selected Trade Mark Interiors based in Hawthorne, NJ. Owners Paul and Dan and their team were first tasked with fixing our bathrooms. What started out as replacing loose tiles quickly turned into the discovery of mold from incorrectly installed showers. The scope of work transitioned into an entire gut-job with remediation. Although this took more time than we initially thought, had it not been for their thorough exploratory work, we would never have known that mold was infiltrating both bathrooms. The bathrooms turned out great with a noticeable difference in workmanship. The larger, more exciting project was our Kitchen Remodel and Home Bar! Paul met with our designer and offered a variety of materials and styles from which to choose. We wanted something unique and modern, rather than traditional and boring, and Trade Mark exceeded our expectations. The sourcing of such unique materials as wood from a recently dismantled barn in the midwest, to a modern zinc encased resin countertop, really gave Trade Mark an edge over other run-of-the-mill kitchen contractors. Their workmanship and attention to detail was remarkable and it was refreshing to have the same workers in our home day after day (our previous contractor subbed everything out to countless different companies). Throughout the project, Paul and his team were in constant communication through their project management application. This ensured that all concerns and requests were met, right down to the last detail. The photos of our kitchen and bar speak for themselves, but needless to say, we are extremely happy with the finished products. There are so many contractors in Northern Jersey who cut corners to make a quick buck. We found ourselves in that mess with our first contractor. Something was always off and I did not like companies that sent over commissioned salesmen who wanted to be my best friend and then they suddenly don't know me after I sign the contract and pay a deposit. Ron Carlson himself came to the house and the moment he walked up my driveway I had a gut feeling I found my roofing company. The search was over. Ron did not start with all the sales crap and throwing titles and certifications like GAF Master Elite blah blah blah at me that virtually means nothing. He was friendly, polite but no nonsense. He knows his stuff and could back up why I don't need gutter protectors, why I don't need 6 inch gutters, why I don't need useless "gold" warranties pushed by the roofing companies etc. Quotation was presented two days later, no extra 6.8% credit card charge levied, final bill was what I was quoted. Period. The Carlson team installed a new roof, gutters, soffits, leaders, two new attic fans, ridge vent skylights etc. Their team worked diligently, clean and started each day at 7:00 am and finished at 6 pm. Rich came by to make sure all was good and so did Doug (though I did not meet him). Top notch roofers. No gimmicks, no add ons, no big lawyer written contracts to sign and no hassles. Old school - agree to the job, do it and happily pay. A handshake means something with Carlson Brothers. They took 1/3 deposit upfront and did not take the other 2/3 until the job was done and they were gone. In fact, Denise called up two days later and asked if it's ok to go ahead and charge the balance on my credit card. I can't say enough good things about them all. As to price, extremely fair and they don't upsell you on anything. Ok. Enough said. I am pleased to select them out of 22 roofers I got estimates from and yes you need to do your due diligence because you'll find a lot of people tell you to do things you don't need to do. I called the office and made an appointment and Mr. Carlson who showed up on time to provide us with a quote. The next day the workman arrived to perform the work. Everyone was professional and knew exactly what to do. Unfortunately there are many contractors out there that will try and do things that aren't really needed but this wasn't the case with Carlson Bros. This company and it's employees were great! Based on my experience I would definitely recommend them. Don't go looking through the Val pack coupons for a company that needs to do the advertising to get business, instead look for the good reviews of a local contractor. Thanks for everything.

We first met with them and scheduled our job and then had to postpone it for a couple of years after giving them a deposit. Bob returned our deposit even though he didn't have to. When we were once again ready, we didn't hesitate to give them our business. We are extremely happy with the quality of the work and the speed of it. Our bathroom was gutted on May 29 and completed on July 2, 2019. The only thing still to come is the custom shower enclosure. Chris coordinated all the moving parts and was here every day to work and to oversee anything that he didn't do himself (which was not much). He even went the extra mile and tested (and cleaned out!) our drains after installing the sink. This issue had nothing to do with the work he did; it was an existing problem. NJ Remodelers was recommended to us by a friend, and we would gladly recommend them for a kitchen or a bath remodel. We needed help with some of the unusual aspects of the design and Bob fit the bill by giving us lots of options from his years of experience. They are honest, trustworthy, and very communicative at every step of the project. Chris made sure we were satisfied with everything--a trait that I have not seen before with the many contractors I have hired over the years. Every day, Chris was a pleasure to work with due to his cheerful attitude and the fact that he really enjoys his job. He went over everything he had done and was going to do each day. He put up with all my nit-picking without complaint and delivered a beautiful bathroom in a challenging, small space. NJR is generous about passing their contractor's discount along to their customers for tile, fixtures, and anything else that they can buy at a lower price, so the cost is very reasonable and fair. They recommend suppliers who they have relationships with and know are reliable. Chris knows how to keep the project running as smoothly as possible. You won't be sorry if you choose this family business!

Very poor business etiquette. While seemingly nice folks (dad and son), they did not wear masks…read morecoming into our home (of two young children) - NJ Covid rate is at 12%, nor did they remove their shoes (all of our shoes are visibly on racks by the doors), nor wore booties. I even repeated the request as we also just had our master bedroom carpets professionally steam cleaned. They said their boots were clean, and I felt bad as the dad's back was obviously an issue as he used a cane and asked in advance over phone how many stairs there were. Went over a few small quick projects, they said they could do it right away and would get back to me quickly with a quote. I waited, and waited, and five days later I finally reached out to them. Nearly 10 hours later they send me a copy/paste email response that they got a job they bid on and won't be free again until September. It was early November when they came to my house. I can only imagine what kind of service they provide if there were issues with their work on the backend if this is their front end. Highly disappointed in their business etiquette, but perhaps it's a blessing in disguise. Please note that I originally posted a one star rating as I was furious and disappointed in how we were left out in the cold to now have to rush during the holidays (Thanksgiving is in two days) to find a reputable company. The reason for my updating to three stars is simply for the fact that the father had written the attached apology following receipt of my response to them echoing similar disappointment and disapproval in how they mismanaged communication on this.
