Ron, Rich, Doug and Denise are all top notch! I interviewed 22 roofers (yes 22!) and received estimates from each. Something was always off and I did not like companies that sent over commissioned salesmen who wanted to be my best friend and then they suddenly don't know me after I sign the contract and pay a deposit. Ron Carlson himself came to the house and the moment he walked up my driveway I had a gut feeling I found my roofing company. The search was over. Ron did not start with all the sales crap and throwing titles and certifications like GAF Master Elite blah blah blah at me that virtually means nothing. He was friendly, polite but no nonsense. He knows his stuff and could back up why I don't need gutter protectors, why I don't need 6 inch gutters, why I don't need useless "gold" warranties pushed by the roofing companies etc. Quotation was presented two days later, no extra 6.8% credit card charge levied, final bill was what I was quoted. Period. The Carlson team installed a new roof, gutters, soffits, leaders, two new attic fans, ridge vent skylights etc. Their team worked diligently, clean and started each day at 7:00 am and finished at 6 pm. Rich came by to make sure all was good and so did Doug (though I did not meet him). Top notch roofers. No gimmicks, no add ons, no big lawyer written contracts to sign and no hassles. Old school - agree to the job, do it and happily pay. A handshake means something with Carlson Brothers. They took 1/3 deposit upfront and did not take the other 2/3 until the job was done and they were gone. In fact, Denise called up two days later and asked if it's ok to go ahead and charge the balance on my credit card. I can't say enough good things about them all. As to price, extremely fair and they don't upsell you on anything. Ok. Enough said. I am pleased to select them out of 22 roofers I got estimates from and yes you need to do your due diligence because you'll find a lot of people tell you to do things you don't need to do. This is the second time that I have used this company, and again. what a great experience! I called the office and made an appointment and Mr. Carlson who showed up on time to provide us with a quote. The next day the workman arrived to perform the work. Everyone was professional and knew exactly what to do. Unfortunately there are many contractors out there that will try and do things that aren't really needed but this wasn't the case with Carlson Bros. This company and it's employees were great! Based on my experience I would definitely recommend them. Don't go looking through the Val pack coupons for a company that needs to do the advertising to get business, instead look for the good reviews of a local contractor. We had an area of water leakage in our foyer ceiling usually after heavy rain. Carlson Brothers have been very responsive in looking for this very difficult to find roof leak over the foyer. They came by multiple times and made corrections. Carlson Brothers also looked for the most cost effective solutions even as another reviewer said it was not financially beneficial to them. We thought the problem was resolved as there was no leak for many months. Unfortunately, after the recent rain for two days, the leak is back. Carlson Brothers has already been by but was unable to check due to a rain shower. Yes it is frustrating but I know they have done everything possible to find the leak. My mother in law called a couple days ago to schedule an appointment for someone to come out and inspect our roof considering the whole roof is getting old and needs to be fully replaced. An appointment was scheduled and she came here from PA specifically FOR the appointment. We waited all day for someone to show up. The appointment was scheduled for 1:30. 1:30 came and went. We waited around and gave the benefit of the doubt since I understand sometimes things come up and can make you late. No call. Nothing from this company. Fast forward to this morning, my mother in law calls again to question why no one called or showed up. They gave an excuse that "due to covid blah blah blah..." I didn't realize the "due to covid" excuse means they can't make a phone call to the homeowners telling them they can't make it. She asked for someone to come out today. They agreed. Directly after getting off the phone we had a change of heart. We don't want someone to come that already blew off a previous appointment, so she called back immediately to cancel. When the girl on the phone asked why we simply said "because you didn't show up yesterday and that's unprofessional". She said fine (attitude) and hung up. An hour or so later after having another company here to inspect, our screen door received a intense knock (banging). We were in the living room...our door was open and you could see us in the living room. Why are you banging on our screen door so loud and startling us?! My husband answered and the man mentioned he was from Carlson. My husband replied we cancelled that appointment as soon as we made it. The man said something about he "doesn't look at the schedule book". So basically no one told you at the office the appointment was cancelled, hm. Once he left, my mother in law received a call from the office yelling about why we sent him away. The attitude the woman on the phone had was disgusting. It's the company's fault they didn't show but you have attitude and are disrespectful to the homeowner?! BECAUSE THE APPOINTMENT WAS CANCELLED AFTER NOT SHOWING UP THE PREVIOUS DAY! Their crew worked extra hours to get the roofing job done in one day. Repaired all leak issues and now the roof is watertight. Gutters installed a day later. I hired Carlson Bros. to work on my parent's Cape Cod, based on the work they did on my girlfriend's ranch house. I had a leak from an attic dormer, and there were already two layers of shingles on the house, so I had them reroof everything, plus new gutters and leaders all around. One of the brothers came to the house to write an estimate, and because both Carlson brothers had actually physically worked on my girlfriend's ranch house, I was kind of surprised when neither of the brothers, but a group of Polish - speaking workmen showed up to do the roof on my house. The job was finished in a day, and yeah they cleaned up. (They paid special attention to ripping out any and all copper from the roof!) Great, everything looked fine on the surface, I mean new shingles look good right? Unfortunately a brand new, decent sized leak developed, and the ceiling got pretty damaged. Turns out their crew left an area of my roof completely open, like you could stick your hand inside the house. The brother who came to check it, did a quick repair with a few pieces of aluminum scrap, and silicone. Not a really durable permanent fix, you know? Plus I developed another brand new leak where the garage butts against the main house. Also, wherever aluminum trim had to be removed, it was put back on backwards. I pointed this out to the brother who showed up to do the repair, he said he'd be back, never saw or heard from him again. Eventually as the siding trim came off on its own, I had to get up on the roof and fix it myself, correctly. So did they fix my initial problem? Yeah they did, that area never leaked again. Did they create larger problems that hadn't existed before? Yeah they did that too, and there was a decent amount of damage. After reading other reviews of people with similar experiences, (Here and on Judysbook dot com) I can't recommend this company unless you want headaches down the road, or you have an extremely simple roofing job. read more

I've used the services of Carlson Brother's roofing several times and would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs any kind of roof or rain gutter work. I've found them to be very professional, courteous, reasonable and affordable and have recommended them to my neighbors and family who feel the same way. The first time I used their service was to install a kitchen vent on my roof and also to clear the rust and rust-proof my vents and they did the work exactly as I expected, on my schedule and at an extremely reasonable price. The second time I used them was after Hurricane Sandy which took a lot of shingles off my roof and they came and repaired it without hassle and again at a great price. A while back we found Carlson Brothers on one of these "find/rate a contractor" web sites. One of the owners came promptly for an estimate; the repair was done quickly and competently; they cleaned up after themselves very well, and the owner checked on the work with us at the end. So when a different part of the house needed roofing work this season, we went back to them without checking the reviews. Mistake. The secretary told us they were booked up because of recent storms, and gave us a choice of a 2-day job soon, or a 1-day job further along. We were desperate because rain was coming, so we mistakenly chose the 2-day job. They arrived in the afternoon, splitting the time with another project, finished half the work and cleaned up thoroughly. Then they left without telling us when to expect them the next day. Heavy thunderstorms were coming on day 2, by the afternoon we were calling the office and owner who promised they were "around the corner" or "picking up materials". They finally arrived at 6:10 pm; 90 minutes before the rains were forecast. They did a competent job of finishing the roof and re-hanging the rain gutters, and then left at dusk without further cleanup. Five days later someone came to pick up the trash in their dumpster-in-a-bag, but they never swept the roofing nails, wood, or pieces of tar from the roof, rain gutters, or yard. Over the next week I collected a dozen or more nails from the ground by hand, and Carlson still hadn't sent us an invoice. One family member got a flat tire from a leftover nail. Contacting the office by email, they finally scheduled the end-of-job visit for inspection and payment. When Carlson arrived, he got an earful about the cleanup, expressed surprise, and took the nails with him as evidence. We haven't heard from them since. After the last rain, we found a pile of wood scraps at the end of the rain gutter's downspout from stuff they had left in the rain gutters, and had to pay a gutter company to flush them clean. after having a friend recommend the Carlson Brothers we decided to go with them. they set up an appointment for within 2 weeks and were on time the day of, we were impressed by how fast the roof went up and how little mess there was. We did have a couple of issues (fan not working, roof not sitting right in a couple of place), at first I was not overall happy, but I decided to give 5/5 because of their follow up and customer service. First one brother came to try and repair what was there and had us wait to see how it settled, after it still did not look right another one of the brothers came and really got into the problem and solved it. I don't necessarily expect perfect work, lets be honest we're all human and they are doing many of these jobs a day, but to have follow up and corrections to that work quickly is beyond my expectations. read more

Needed a small section of roof replaced over my garage. Price was fair, guys showed up on time did their job and cleaned up 98% leaving no nails at all (if you've ever had a roof done you know how huge that is). Guys were professional and job looks great. 1 week since they did it and it's been through 2 storms, one rain and one snow, without a drop in the garage. I would definitely recommend them. Update: I needed them to come back and replace 1/2 of the full roof (it was just due and started leaking one day). They exceeded the expectations from the first job. After discovering we had a water problem that had gone undetected for years we called in many roofing contractors. Estimates ranged from $2500 to $4000. After a few 'no shows', we reached out to Carlson. Ron came personally to assess the work and came in with a cost $1675. The estimate detailed the work identically to that of the other contractors. He sent two professional and polite workers who were efficient and done in 1 day (other contractors stated 2 days). Ron came the next day to show digital pictures of the roof, the problem and the work done to correct it. He also gave his personal cell number in case we had any issues. I used them to rip off two old layers of shingles, repair any roof decking issues, and install new shingles and ridge vents. Everything went very smoothly, I had no issues. After vetting a few other roofers, they provided me a fair estimate that wasn't a low ball or high ball. They answered all of my specific questions and were very open about sending me copies of the licenses and insurance policies. Scheduling is a little tough, they're very busy and of course you cannot control the weather. During the installation there was a problem with the ridge vent and waterproofing the chimney. They came back and took care of the problem before final payment was made (or even asked for). I would recommend using Carlson Brothers for anyone with a roofing issue. read more

I had my roof replaced by Carlson Bros in 2004. Now in 2018 I have a leak with water dripping into my living room. I called and was told the workmanship warranty is for only 12 years so I am not covered. I decided to have them come out and give a free estimate for the repair. The appointment was for late Nov. They never showed up so I called back. Yes, they missed the appointment, they are really backed up, and they could call me back in January when things free up. Not an appointment in January, mind you, they would call in January to set up another appointment at that time. They do not seem very committed to their customer (especially previous customers). Denise has always been great with communication and these guys are super honest and reliable. Had 2 ceiling leaks and when I called for roof repairs, they effectively determined both causes and leaks never returned. Sorry to say, I was not even allowed to hire them even though I was very happy with their punctuality and communication for the estimate. I was going to have vent fans installed along with roof repair. When I decided that I'd hold off on the vent fans to a later time and recalculate the estimate minus the fans, I was told by their office that it wasn't worth their time !!! So, they may do great work but, I'll never know. Not unless I make it worth their time. To me, that's unacceptable and not worth my time. read more

I live in a condo so have no personal need for Carlson Brothers. However, if I ever move to a home anywhere north of 195 and need a roofer I will use Carlson Brothers as they were so nice and fair with my mother. She is trying to sell her house. An inspector falsely stated that she had a hole in her roof. One of the Carlson brothers came out, looked at it, affirmed that there were no holes, gave her a video and receipt stating as much, and would not accept payment despite her insistence that he do. Again, if I ever have the need for roofers, I know that I will use Carlson Brothers. I will recommend them whenever I can. read more

Maybe the new Carlson Brothers are good but we just had a replacement roof installed and what we learned was appalling. Carlson had installed new plywood over our entire home for an exorbitant cost and we have just found out it was even the correct size plywood nor was it installed properly with spacing. Our chimney which has been leaking since the original job was also not flashed properly. In fact we were told that the entire job looked like it was done by someone who had no clue about roofing! When the old plywood was removed each and EVERY piece was wavy. It was just an all around bad job and we are thankful that our new roofer knew what he was doing. read more

I hired Carlson and they sent a sub contractor that performed a 2 day job in one day the quality of work was terrible. The roof leaks at the.chimmney and at the septic vents. In fact the septic vent pvc line was snapped and propped up to cover the damage. Anotber leak occurred where they covered a hole in the roof where a workers foot fell tbrough the roof. ALSO, the shingles show a worn path where the workers crossed over and ovet the same path while working. Since i paid $5000 in advance they had no incentive to fix any problem i reported to them. Save your money and roof and call some one else. They advertised in a church bulletin. This company is not to be trusted. They are not a reputable company. I have never written a review before. Like most of the comments below, this company is punctual and polite. Very neat with cleaning up. With that being said good luck if you choose to use this company. Workmanship is hit or miss. I used this company after my father in law had used a few years earlier for his roof and has never had issues. I had my roof installed in several years ago and have experienced several leaks including today. My ceiling is ruined in my kitchen on the 1st floor of my house. The previous roof was well over 20 yrs old and never leaked, I've lost track of how many leaks I've had since getting the roof installed. read more

At this date and time I am very disgusted with them, just called for the third time due to the fact that the shingles are falling off. I had major damage inside when first time roof blew off and had water pouring into home. Fire department had to shut down all the electricity and heat during the storm (believe it was Katrina). Second time several blew off and was told that due to insulation in attic that was the cause. Today when I called the woman who answered the phone said it was due to a ventilation problem. My father had insulation in the attic as long as I can remember and roof never blew off. Have a fan in attic that goes on whenever it gets hot up there and was put in when Central Air was installed, and there is an opening with flaps where air gets in in the front of the house (attic fan) no window. I am tired of worrying everyday about roof coming off. And it wasn't even windy. I DEFINITELY would not recommend this company to anyone. read more
