Sometimes you get a hankering to go bowling. Sundays seem to be the day this occurs. We stopped out on a Sunday around 2 p.m. and they had open bowling. For three people, three games each and one rental of shoes, it cost about $31.00. The place has that homey Buffalo old school bowling alley feel. It's comforting. The allies were in great condition, because I bowled the best game of my life, a 182. We were given the alley right by the wall, where the door going to the back is located. I purchased a Groupon for $16 and which gave me 3 games. Upon arriving at the bowling alley, we found out that shoes were $4/pair. If we had purchased the games from the alley, they would've been $2.50/game. This being the case, the Groupon was much more expensive than buying the games individually. A perfect classic bowling alley. We've never had an issue getting a lane, they seem to have open bowling quite a bit. If you want to be sure, just call ahead. The place is huge...tons of lanes. The counter staff is always really nice, too, and prices are incredibly reasonable. We've been a few times for New Year's Eve, and they have a great deal on bowling with pizza, etc. They have an early game for families, or midnight games for an older crowd. It is a pretty average bowling spot. I would have rated it 3 stars but, the individuals that worked at the register, whom I also believed owned the place had alot of unnecessary problems. Incredibly rude employees (at least the one older gentleman that works on Sunday's), technology that is stuck in the 70s/80s, lanes reset the pins randomly at least once per game. I never have high standards for bowling alley but this place is big yikes. It's almost like they don't want any new regular customers and are actively trying to go out of business. Cheap bowling on Sunday mornings, but for a dollar more you can go to Classic Lanes which is much much nicer and (somewhat) friendlier. read more

Well it's a divey bowling alley. Little arcade, sweet sticker machine, big enough bar, TONS of lanes, fast (snarky) service. In terms of bowling - our group of 9 had ZERO problems. We're from out of town and needed to kill some time before dinner on Grand Island for my husbands birthday and we ended up here. The place is huge, and super old school. Like others have said, you definitely feel like you've stepped back in time. The ball selection wasnt great-most were far too heavy or weren't labeled with the size and many that I tried had things and grossness shoved into the finger holes, which was super disgusting. The place also smelled like cigarette smoke which wasnt great considering that gives me asthma attacks. We were also a little bit weirded out by the sounds the machines were making when resetting the pins-it was very loud, and too forever, and sounded like it was breaking down every time. I see a few people mention Joe being rude or unaccommodating, that was my experience also. He has his regulars who he takes very good care of but he is nasty to everybody else. Of course you want to keep your regulars happy but you should also want to win over new customers. He made using the Groupon difficult, invented new rules once he saw we were a larger group. If you point out his irrational logic he becomes even more stubborn and unaccommodating and tries to nickel and dime you. I'd most likely not go here again, as there are better options in the area. Plus the food is super greasy and gave me indigestion. read more

If you just want to bowl and don't need the pizzazz then this is a good option for you. We called ahead to reserve two lanes. We paid $7.50 per person for two games and shoes. We had a few hours of good, honest fun. Bonus, they have some good french fries! Ya know, cut from real potatoes. I saw the guy carrying the 50lb sack of potatoes to the kitchen with my own eyes. This place is your typically dingy, musty, old bowling alley, but it does have some character. It does the trick for some entertainment but nothing out of the ordinary by any means. They have a full kitchen and bar which is nice. There was also a pretty decent sized birthday party next to us, so another good accommodation/ A secret for the weak small hander's out there: all the small balls are behind the counter. Hope this helps so you don't spend hours looking for a reasonable sized ball or dislocate your shoulder playing with a ball far too heavy for you (speaking from experience here). When all you want is an open lane and normal bowling experience check out Kenmore Lanes. The neighborhood it's in may not be the best (lock you car!) but get past that and the experience is nicely middle of the road. As far as the actual bowling goes... well I think it's hard to mess that up, the lanes work what more do you need? It doesn't have the crazier animations on the score screen for spares and strikes but I've never been one to care about such. I don't usually check out the bar or the food but when I have I know the bar is well priced for beer and the staff is friendly. The best thing to do is go on a Thursday. They have $1 games from 8pm to 11pm though given the crowd yesterday not a lot of people know this. Be aware that, at least for the dollar games, you have to pay ahead and go ask for more games if you want to keep playing. A minor inconvenience but I can't fault them for making sure people don't walk out without paying. I'm not sure what a normal game price would be, but shoe rentals are $5. They do have midnight bowling on Fridays though I have not checked it out myself. For kids they have a small assortment of video games in the "arcade" and some skill games that give tickets for the handful of cheap plastic prizes available behind the counter. Basically I like Kenmore Lanes, it's where I've always gone since it's closest to me, and they seem to run a good deal of specials and coupons (by the way they have a website at www.kenmorelanes.net). I've been to other alleys around Buffalo, probably Transit is one of the better ones, and I find that Kenmore is a solid choice for casual bowling. read more

I've been to alot of bowling alley's in my day and boy does this one take the cake at being the absolute worst. From the moment we walked in the service was awful. The gentleman at the counter had an extremely poor demeanor and basically told one in our party to "shut up" while asking a vague question. On top of that the service at the bar was slow despite the lack of clientele. And the grand daddy of them all was the rude service from the food area, it took a half hours to get fries and when we asked where they were, we were greeted with a "don't worry we didn't forget about you" despite the wait....and once we started eating the fries we found that they had turned into an amalgamation of cold slop even though we just received them. I am a bowling "purist" if you will, and if you want a good "classic" bowling experience without the synthetic lanes and flashy animations that tell you the circumference of your ball, this is the place to go. Kenmore Lanes is affordable and the staff is always friendly and approachable. The center is by no means modern, but they do a good job keeping the lanes in decent shape and the center functional. They also boast a small arcade and pro shop, along with a bar and moderate snack bar. So if you are looking for a fair priced, good old-fashioned bowling experience go to Kenmore Lanes. read more

My thinking was that NATIONAL BOWLING DAY would create so much buzz that I would have to make a reservation. When I called ahead a few hours earlier, I was told not to worry and just walk in. 8:30pm on a Saturday night on a day invented for the sole purpose to break a record of most # bowlers in a day? If you say so. When I had reached the parking lot, I was already worried. There was only one other car there and as we walked in, all the lanes were blacked out and the place looked closed. It was a weird first few minutes there but they accepted our free game coupon and lit up a lane for us. This place is pretty standard and subpar in comparison to the last bowling alley that I've been to. Those had entertaining animation scoreboards, speedometers, flashing lights, and most important to a casual bowling alley, MUSIC. KL had none of the above but then again, there wasn't anything really terrible about it. The service was good but beyond that, doubt I'd come here again unless I had a huge group fiending to play b/c there surely would be no problem renting out 10 lanes whenever we wanted. read more
